U.S. Sen. Dan Sullivan, Sen. Lisa Murkowski and 29 of their Senate colleagues have sent a bipartisan letter to United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, condemning the inaction of the U.N. regarding Hamas’s widespread sexual violence, including mass rape and mutilation, against women in Israel on Oct. 7.
The senators urged Guterres to open an independent investigation into Hamas’s acts of sexual violence and to hold the U.N. Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women—the organization dedicated to ending gender-based violence—accountable for its failure to immediately and unequivocally condemn Hamas’s atrocities against women.
Joining Senator Sullivan were Senators Jim Risch (R-Idaho), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Jacky Rosen (D-N.M.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Ben Cardin (D-M.D.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.), Katie Britt (R-Ala.), Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), Bob Casey (D-Pa.), John Fetterman (D-Pa.), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Bill Cassidy (R-La.), Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), James Lankford (R-Okla.), Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), and Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.).
“We write to express our profound disappointment with the United Nations’ (UN) response to Hamas’s widespread sexual violence, including rape and mutilation, as a weapon of war against women in Israel on October 7, 2023,” wrote the senators. “A growing body of evidence including the testimonies of survivors, witnesses, and first responders makes clear that as part of Hamas’s terrorist attack that killed 1,200 men, women, and children on October 7, the terrorist organization intentionally used rape and sexual assault as weapons of war.”
“Sexual violence, particularly on this scale and of this level of brutality, must be condemned unequivocally and without qualification, which is why we were shocked that it took UN Women nearly two months to speak out against these atrocities,” the senators’ letter said. “… we urge you to move swiftly to seek the establishment of an independent fact-finding effort through a separate mechanism, tasked with collecting testimonies from survivors and witnesses of Hamas’s sexual violence. An independent investigation is a necessary step to hold perpetrators accountable, support survivors, and provide justice for victims.”

Peltola is not the only vulnerable Democrat taking toxic cash from House ‘Squad’ Hamas-supporters
Where are the other 19 ‘repub’ “senators”? If this were a democrat letter, every single one of them would have, most likely, signed the ‘letter’. Disfunction in the ‘repub’ party is the biggest reason that two party politics, either party, are a joke without unity within said party. Once the ‘tyranny of the majority’ takes over, free rein with their agenda and I think everyone knows what that is by now. There is no ‘second place’ in this race. Winner takes all and it’s not the “repubs”. “Divided we fall” is more than some old saying. America is the prize. We all have lots to lose.
Sure! … Just write another ‘tuff’ letter, memo, and/or public statement.
Exercising swift and severe “CONSEQUENCES” are what’s necessary.
Oh please. If those two racksteering thieves had done their job there wouldn’t be any wars. If they cared about violence against women I wouldn’t be taken cyber hostage and tortured. They’ve no shame.
Huh?? What are you talking about?
How can two US Senators prevent all wars all by themselves?
And what is a “cyber hostage”?
Susie you have some explaining to do…..
You can always count on the UN for one thing: NOTHING
October 7th was more than two months ago. The UN in a show of exactly what they are made of, has been all but silent on this extremely disturbing issue. The UN has tried to stop Israel from exacting justice on the terrorists who believe this kind of brutality is acceptable, the UN has signed off on this kind of brutality, the UN is complicit in these crimes and the support of these. Oh yeah, an Iranian was appointed the chairmanship on the UN Human Rights Council…now it makes sense.
This tells us where the moral
Compass is with our politicians and regular citizens.
Thank the terrible eduction industry for feeding this BS to young minds who can’t even do simple math.
Definitely should be condemned
Yeah, that’ll scare them.
When tyranny is ushered in will the friends of a foreign one percent of one percent leading secretly the agenda against America’s US Constitution be giving our usurpers a “gift”? Freedom of Information all correspondence though they are no doubt in primitive codes right now.
So what does condemnation of the UN’s inaction prove? That Sullivan and Murkowski are good people on the global stage?
.
These two senators are feckless, just like the UN is feckless.
Rape is kind of a U.N. thang, u all. Google it.
