The Republican district in Eagle River, home community for Republican Nick Begich, voted unanimously to endorse Begich for Congress on Wednesday. The group debated but did not give the same endorsement for any of the other three Republicans running.
This makes the seventh Republican district committee in Alaska to endorse Begich. In addition, six of the seven Republican women’s clubs and both of the Alaska Young Republican clubs have endorsed Begich, along with the House Freedom Caucus and other leading conservatives.
Eagle River is considered a conservative fortress. It is overwhelmingly Republican and in 2020, about 60% of the voters chose Donald Trump in the general election.
District 23 joins these districts in endorsing Begich: 6, 8, 26, 29, 34, and 36.
Only 36 of the 40 House districts have organized Republican committees. But this makes nearly 20% of all of the organized districts having endorsed Begich and no other congressional candidate.
District 23 also endorsed Republican Jared Goecker over incumbent Republican Sen. Kelly Merrick, who has the support of many Democrats and labor unions, but does not enjoy support from activists in the party.
Previously, the district had endorsed Alaska House Rep. Jamie Allard, who is being challenged by a Democrat.
Yes! How can this be any more clear? Alaska wants Nick.
I live in Eagle River. I voted for Palin last time but will be voting for Begich this time around. Best of luck!
Voted early
Nick and Jared all the way
Kelly is No Republican
The national people are spending millions to keep Nick Begich from representing us. They did the same thing last time. This guy is a danger to business as usual. All is money is coming from people. The PACs want someone else. Makes it an easy decision for me. He will put us first.
DC and the governor don’t want nick they want nancy. she is there “yes man”
she’s a RINO.
just took a survey from her, nothing but lies about nick.
It is obvious Ranked Choice Voting eviscerated the Republican party in Alaska but the elitist establishment operatives are not relenting. They chose Dahlstrom as their establishment RINO to foist upon the grass-roots Republicans who actually want Begich. Ironically, the Ranked Choice Voting that we all hate may be the very thing that gives the GOP back to true conservative Alaskans.
I just left the election office to vote in person with ID and followed the ballot to the counting machine.
According to ballot instruction it said mark one candidate only.
I wasnt sure what to expect but was relieved to see “make one choice” pick for congress.
I participated in a telephone poll survey earlier this week and they asked me how I would rank the candidates and I said I would only be marking one because I didnt believe in rigged choice. (that wasnt what she wanted to hear as I could tell she was a Peltola minion)
I just realized Rigged choice doesnt apply to the open primary but only the general in November.
Hard to keep up with Kendalls wet dream 🙂
A little slow in the uptake Andy. It’s been over two years since this was obvious if you were paying attention.
Sure Joe, I admit i sometimes forget the new process of counting the same vote multiple rounds and reapplying your vote to a different candidate that “ranks” higher each round and potentially the outcome is a winner with the least amount of votes in round one versus the old way of one voter marking one candidate and it is done and over with.
I may be slow but it still stinks badly of corruption.
The candidate with the least amount of votes in round one is dropped and can’t be the eventual winner. There are arguments against RCV but this isn’t one of them.
Going into a ranked choice ballot election in our corrupted state with likely the most inflated voter registration rolls in the country, (there will be volumes of ballots that can be actually “voted” as needed to achieve the “correct” results), should cause the Republican Party to have limited their congressional candidate to 1 person. There never is a concentrated goal of cleaning up the voter rolls under any state Governor’s administration as none of them are actually conservative and the system only decays slower under Republicans. Whatever damage the Democrats do becomes the new standard, and at best anemic rear guard actions occur. There is no way I could vote for Dahlstrom, she is a recycled state worker, party apparatchik. Our family is voting for Begich. With no illusions, another liberal family dynasty which is all Alaska is able to produce. The same situation for my lifetime, voting for the less liberal candidate, knowing absolutely nothing will improve in Washington (or Juneau), but somewhat delaying the inevitable downward spiral of our nation.
Some peoples kids who just can’t take change enough of the same old who had their chance booooo. Nancy Dahlstrom has been groomed for this, call her get jaw dropped at her then cast your vote for her. MAGA is at hand all. Lisa IMAGINE when you are on your last breath on earth & you see JESUS remember he had a rigged trial also ma’am rigged to all involved in rank choice voting IMAGINE what JESUS will say shame shame shame
We’re voting for Nick tomorrow, conservatives need to wake up and give RINO’s like dahlstrom the boot!
I live in Eagle River and my entire family is voting for Nick.
We need safety, security and Nancy epitomizes the leadership we need for our biggest weakness and risk in Alaska.
There are plenty of representatives and advocates for responsible energy development-she is the SOLE candidate in this election that is focused, a champion, with a resume who supports her commitment to safety of all of us as Alaskans.
Every other candidate is bought and paid for by some sort of development or another.
I am more concerned about personal safety and reducing rape and violence in Alaska.
Get on board.
Vote for Nancy!!!
Beg your pardon! Nancy came on as the last of the Mohicans because Dunleavy couldn’t attract anyone to run with him. He is a made over Democrat running in the Republican scene doing a lot of damage making himself look good with Dahlstrom and vice versa. She had a job that could have made a difference in the corrections system but flubbed it as usual. Prisoners being murdered and committing suicide with drugs running in and out while Nancy sat on her butt doing nothing. AWRC under Judy committed to endorsing her in that race and this one. It would mean that Judy gets free trips, contracts and money she doesn’t have to work for and Nancy gets on the ticket for a job that has never been well represented in this state. Nancy is a failure at former jobs and the one she now has with the Division of Elections. She can’t do this job and wants a change to a job she’ll be unable to do as well. Why do you or anyone for that matter want another dip stick in Congress? We have three elected with that personae already. AWRC has representatives who vote the way they choose. Not the way the AWRC Chair states they should. Nancy Dahlstrom is definitely not a good choice for the job at hand, State of Alaska Congressman.
I totally agree with DK. Dahlstrom has ruined her reputation; although, it sounds like she was already starting to ruin it before she was selected as lt gov.
She’s a loser. She will not beat Peltola but if she did you can expect nothing from her. She is almost 70 years old.
