A 16-year-old male succumbed to gunshot wounds in Anchorage on Tuesday night.

At 8:37 p.m. police responded to the 400 block of Price Street, where they found the boy with gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was transported and declared dead at a nearby hospital. Police do not release the names of juvenile victims.

The APD Crime Scene Team responded to process the scene and closed Thompson Avenue at Price Street, later reopening the intersection, which is in the Mountainview neighborhood.

Earlier on Tuesday, Anchorage Police responded to a report at 6:52 a.m. of an adult male shooting a firearm in the parking lot of the 5700-block of Rocky Mountain Court.

Upon arrival, officers found another adult male near 6th and Boniface by San Juan Circle with at least one gunshot wound to the upper body.

Anchorage Fire Department medics responded to the scene in the Russian Jack neighborhood and provided life-saving measures; however, the victim was declared deceased at the scene. The man’s identity will be released once next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed, police said.

  1. Addled Acres, formally know as Mountain View again lives up to its expectations. So so sad for the 16 year old and his family. I miss Hula Hands but will not go there any more at night.

    • Don’t go anywhere at night. Walgreens on Tudor has thugs that roam the store to steal. The staff kicks them out only to have them turn around and come back in. Staff there says it’s a nightly occurrence. Mayor LaFrance and her Assembly have created this city! We get what we vote for: homeless and thugs everywhere!

  2. Unfortunately, it’s probably going to get worse with this leftist assembly and mayor. Seems like all leftist democrat cities are plagued by crime

      • Actually Greg the left has created this nightmare intentionally. Liberal judges need I say more. Most attorneys are left wing as are most judges. 0 accountability 0 enforcement of the law.

          • It’s more than poor parenting. You have no fathers in so many homes and women struggling to work and take care of kids. Babies are born and dumped in daycare cribs for the first year of their lives with very little human contact. They grow up with no empathy or caring for others. Even kids with two parents run wild while both parents work to buy all the latest fad junk items that only end up in rented storage units. “The more you own, the more it owns you”. People may not like to hear this, but family and traditional roles are very important in providing the best outcomes in life. However, even the best homes with the best parents can produce a child who may end up on the wrong side of the law.

      • New York City was horrendous. Mayor Giuliani bought it back by enforcing the the laws. Graffiti, jaywalking, etc. the same needs to be done here.

  3. Only two shooting deaths on Tuesday this week?

I guess that isn’t such a big number considering Anchorage is such a huge city….

The death toll will become the usual topic on the third page of ADN if it has enough other good news to keep families feeling safe.

  4. On any given day you can find half a dozen APD cars along the Glenn looking like vultures for their next meal. Imagine the impact on crime if they did actual police work like patrolling neighborhoods like Mountain View. All these shootings are a direct result of misallocating scarce police resources just to make a few dollars from hapless Valley commuters.

  5. All Anchorage ever needed to do is enforce the freakin laws that are already on the books. This applies to homelessness, drugs, and all manner of violent and property crimes. We are living out the “broken window theory” in real time here. It requires a willingness and ability to enforce the law, from the cops to the DA, to the judges. Until we demand enforcement of the law at all levels, this problem only gets worse.
