One dead, one injured in small plane crash

Kurt Joseph St. Jean of Homer, owner of a Piper Super Cub that crashed near Mile 154.5 of the Sterling Highway on Friday, was found deceased by Alaska State Troopers responding to the scene after a report of the crash at about 1:12 pm. An adult female passenger was extricated from the plane, which was lodged in a tree, and transported to a nearby hospital, in critical condition. The aircraft number is N1880P.

The National Transportation Safety Board has taken over the investigation into the crash, which was north of Anchor Point.
