Breaking: Second F-18 Super Hornet was fired on by U.S.S. Gettysburg on Sunday

On Sunday, a second U.S. Navy fighter jet was nearly shot down by a Navy missile cruiser over the Red Sea.

Earlier it was reported that an F/A-18 Super Hornet was shot down by a missile fired from the U.S.S. Gettysburg. Both pilots survived by ejecting.

On Tuesday, it was revealed by a source to Fox News that the second fighter jet took evasive action, after being shot at. The missile from the Gettysburg came within 100 feet of the second American jet, which was not far behind the first jet.

The second incident has not been reported by U.S. Central Command.

The commanding officer of the Gettysburg is from Adak, Alaska. Captain Justin Hodges was assigned command of the ship in 2023. More in this story:

  1. Our military has been woked to death by incompetence of the secretary of defense and the joint was chiefs of staff. They need to answer for this incompetence.

      • Ohhhh WOKE. Get out the dictionary and attempt to learn one new word a month. You can do it, I have faith in you.

    • Yup.
DEI promotions over more deserving white heterosexual, Christian white males.
EVERYONE in the military and big corporations know this is happening.
It doesn’t make us better, smarter, or bigger – the exact opposite exactly.
Trump won – we’re allowed to tell the truth now, right?

      • In reality the office of DEI established in 1994 is a small office within the DOD that only gathers data and makes recommendations it is not a out of control Woke mob and certainly is not to blame for the friendly fire incident.

    • Investigation will result in cover-up. No one will be held “responsible”. Meanwhile, another multi-million dollar asset gets wasted. Two? Really? Were they together or close and fired on at the same time? Is there an enemy sympathizer on board the Gettysburg? I have trouble believing that a U.S. ship was not aware of U.S. military aviation activity in their vicinity. Something smells, and none of the possibilities look or smell good.

    • Yeah Wayne let’s wait for a 2 year congressional investigation and report.
Not enough DEI and climate change will be ruled the culprit.
It’s only been 2 near misses.
Wouldn’t want to be decisive – that would come across as mean – like something Trump would do.

  2. Merry Christmas Susan et al!
When I first read a story of this incident, I read that 2 fighters had been shot down by apparent “friendly fire”; that the pilots were fine, one with minor injuries. Thank God for their safety, and may their families know His peace on this holy night.

  3. There are numerous incidents not being reported of the failures of our weapon systems and personnel deployed overseas.

The Arab tribesmen in Yemen using a handful of missiles have made the Red Sea region too dangerous for our aircraft carriers, and the naval assets left are unable to silence them.

The fact that the 2nd targeted jet was not shot down illustrates the unreliability of the effectiveness of our systems.

One of the Patriot systems deployed in Kiev shot down one of the vaunted, “game changing” F-16s we gifted the regime. Due to the proprietary targeting software, only American servicemen arm and service the Patriot system, can’t blame the Ukrainian conscripts.

Several apartment buildings in Kiev have been hit, killing residents, when using Patriot systems, most likely due to panicked, incompetent and ill trained crews.

Fortunately for the local residents, most, if not all those systems have been destroyed before causing more serious damage and casualties amongst civilians.

A serious assessment of the state of our military and the weapon systems being purchased is critical for the security of our nation.

    • We have a far better chance of ‘getting to the bottom’ of all this with the new Trump administration. They won’t be weighed down with ‘woke’ themes that cannot be disturbed. Since this is a second incident, perhaps there is a cyber weapon being used for our side attacking our own assets? There will be a thorough investigation.

  4. In those F18s, there is a pilot, and second seat is a weapons officer.

Apparently in the first incident, they were refueling. It could have been way worse.

  5. Pure incompetence, that’s all it boils down to. This is reminisce of the Carter days. Command an control functions are always going to be negatively impacted when you worry more about DEI, etc. than the heath, welfare, and warfare training of our troops. Those of us in service during the latter days of the Carter years saw how command functions were negatively (paralzingly) impacted by the required attention to politics of the day rather than the mission.

    • Sooooo,..diversity affected the engagement zone for the boat that shot at the plane?!? Quite the view,..from motor pool…

  6. These are the kinds of things that one would expect from a woke military. When Trump gets into office in a few weeks, wokeness will be in the rearview mirror. Guaranteed!

  7. US and allies have committed sinful acts and destructions all over the world especially in 3rd world countries. Now God is punishing them …..could not longer differentiate between allies and enemies!

  8. Oh yes, of course it was pure incompetence on the part of the ship – couldn’t have been an IFF failure or other procedural screw up on the aircraft side… perish the thought.

There are dozens of ways this could have happened and the investigation will determine which one it was.

These things happen in combat zones. People have to make decisions fast with seconds being the difference in the possibile life or death for the ship.

With the speed, range, and automation levels of weapon systems all increasing it’s going to happen even more often.

  9. Sounds like that the Imperial Squids are desperately trying to create a Gulf of Tonkin false flag to stir up war fervor against Iran.

  10. Maybe there’s more to this story than meets the eye. Like maybe a little bit of deflection from the fact that the USN Aircraft Carrier, Harry S Truman, was forced to flee the Red Sea during this missile/drone attack which, by some analysts’ accounts, was described as fierce.
