Breaking: Gaetz withdraws name for Attorney General

Former Rep. Matt Gaetz has withdrawn from consideration for U.S. Attorney General, he wrote in a social media post on X.

Gaetz said he had “excellent meetings” with senators on Wednesday, but it became “clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition.”

“There is no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle, thus I’ll be withdrawing my name from consideration to serve as Attorney General,” Gaetz wrote.

“Trump’s DOJ must be in place and ready on Day 1. I remain fully committed to see that Donald J. Trump is the most successful President in history. I will forever be honored that President Trump nominated me to lead the Department of Justice and I’m certain he will Save America,” he said.

The firebrand’s nomination was being derailed by unfounded accusations made by the legacy media and women who all of a sudden had history with Gaetz.

    • Actually Greg you have to be a fool to think that. Pictures do lie. It’s very easy for anyone to modify a picture these days. Photo shop has been fully functional for 15 years or more. Try to contain your glee at the misinformation you are being fed? If it’s main stream media reporting it %99 altered story or complete lie. They are evil.

  1. Outstanding!!! I couldn’t believe Trump nominated that guy in the first place. I believe this is a great thing, since he resigned from the house he now has to get backfilled hopefully by a conservative. But I am glad he is gone as he has caused a lot of problems for republicans. Good riddance!

  2. A good result. Mr. Gaetz was a poor choice – little actual legal experience, lousy political mechanics and serious questions about his character. Hopefully the President-elect can find someone good to clean up the Deep State at DOJ and the FBI.

  3. Daddy’s Little Princess was one of the very first to object to Gaetz. I believe she even takes issue with the other nominations. How exactly does this obstructionist // defiant approach help Alaska and Alaskans? Seems like her current posture is more of a detriment // unmitigated risk // liability … driven completely by her unhinged emotions and menstrual anger. At some point, she needs to grow up and get-on-board to repairing the damage done. Or, get out of the way!!!

    • Rob, it’s not menstrual anger–Lisa is old enough that she has gone through (or is still going through) menopause. And how dare a woman object to a misogynist! I’m sure you wanted a grown man who sleeps with 18 year old girls (not women) to lead the Department of Justice.

    • She’s being put in the spotlight. I pray that she is one of the “bureaucrats” that President Trump plans on firing when he gets into office since we have not been able to get rid of her in an honest and legal manner.

  4. The firebrand’s nomination was being derailed by unfounded accusations made by the legacy media and women who all of a sudden had history with Gaetz. He has been under investigation for years for his alleged abuses, the report was scheduled to be released when he resigned quickly. What was in it that he didn’t want known?
