While Trump rally draws thousands in Anchorage, in Palmer a gay pride festival is going on at fairgrounds

The culture wars are on display in Southcentral Alaska. In Anchorage, a rally with keynote speaker Donald Trump has attracted thousands to the University of Alaska Anchorage campus. Meanwhile, an Alaska LGBTQ+ organization is holding a gay pride festival at the Alaska Fairgrounds. Organizers say it will be a family-friendly event for people of all ages. Doors open at noon.

This is the third time the Queen’s Guard group has held the festival, and organizers say there may be as many as 6,000 people attending this year. The theme is “prom,” and visitors can expect lots of drag queens on parade throughout the fairgrounds.

Some residents of Palmer object to the event being open for children, and say that the group has a history of grooming children for drag queen lifestyles, but the Alaska Fairgrounds wrote to the complainants that it opens its facilities to all organizations, without regard to the content they provide.

The Queen’s Guard is the same organization that performed in a drag show for children in a public park in Soldotna last month, to the dismay of many parents in the community. That show featured a drag queen twerking to the children in the crowd, see story below.

  8. To each their own. But it is nice to know the groomers are all in one place. Wonder how many are teachers?

    Any “child friendly” drag event is to one degree or another a grooming event. And what is missing in these people they need to validate their activities with children?

    Assuming the country survives, this trans fad will burn itself out. More literally, die off.

  9. What is there to be “Proud” about in being homosexual?
    Are heterosexuals “proud” of their sexuality”? I’ve never seen it, nor would I expect it.
    If being homosexual is an accident of birth, as most of them claim, then there is no more reason for them to be ‘proud’ of their sexuality than there is for me to be proud of having blue eyes.

    Governor please change the hash OIL AND GAS rules and start attracting more oil and gas investors. The people need more leaders to be pro-oil and gas.

    JUST look ENI and Shell WHY ARE THEY DROPPING LEASES, they could stay and drill so can others please just fix the broken oil and gas rules so they will stay and others come to drill for more oil and gas, please act fast.

    • Most of Alaska is held by the federal government. Almost everywhere oil is found is.

      I’m no fan of Dunleavy but there is literally nothing he can do here. If he was unable to stand up to the Anchorage Assembly, he’s way out of his depth with the federal government.

      Even if he was willing and able to send people to the slope, who’s gonna risk the wrath of the tyrant in the White House to move it? Where is it gonna get refined? You want to sell it to China!

  16. Sad. There is a bit of literal ancient history behind the ‘drag queen’ entertainment. Back to the 1500’s. It was connected to theater and the lack of female actors. Later, it was sort of commandeered by the homosexual culture. Still, it was always adult entertainment. Now, it is used for political purpose and agenda. It is about shoving acceptance of debauchery and confusion down the throats of citizens whom really are not interested. It is about confusing children about the gender they were born with. It is about the attempt at removing guilt for sin and dysfunction cultivated in often traumatic and neglectful childhoods, or dysfunctional edgy peer influence imposed upon vulnerable insecure youth. Tragic and disgusting.

    Any parent that takes their child to such an event does not deserve the privilege of parenthood.

    • The medieval shortage of actresses meany men often played both parts but they weren’t parodies and the substitution was a matter of need during a time when actual queers were either beheaded or simply roasted.

      It wasn’t anything like a drag queen event. Think of the Palmer display as being more akin to a Ren Faire event where by and large, they’re bi and large.
