Gov. Mike Dunleavy has appointed Seth Church, a business entrepreneur from Fairbanks, to the University of Alaska Board of Regents. The appointment was announced
Thursday and is effective immediately.

Church launched his first business venture at the age of 17, and has spent the past two decades as a business owner, specializing in construction and real estate.

Church served on several influential committees and advisory boards, including as a member of the Alaska Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee, the Coalition for Juvenile Justice, and the Marine Transportation Advisory Board.

“The University of Alaska plays an essential role in equipping Alaskans with the skills they need to meet workforce demands. As a business owner, Seth brings a perspective to the Board of Regents that will ensure the University of Alaska is effectively preparing students for productive careers,” Dunleavy said.

Last month, Dunleavy appointed Tuckerman Babcock to another vacancy on the Board of Regents. Both appointments must be approved by the Legislature when it reconvenes next year.
