A hardline socialist housing forum on Sunday highlighted Anchorage Assemblyman Felix Rivera among its panelists. The conference was called a “Liberation Forum,” and also featured Jasmin Smith, Roger Branson, and others.

The host of the event was the Party for Socialism and Liberation Anchorage, which also supports Palestinian terrorists who have committed war and atrocities on the sovereign nation of Israel.

Rivera has been featured at this group’s events in the past. In September, he spoke at a pro-transgender sports rally hosted by the Party for Socialism and Liberation.

The forum on housing on Sunday was held at the Umoja CoWorking Space, which was a building purchased by taxpayers for Jasmin Smith, with the approval of the Assembly.

It’s the type of project the Anchorage Assembly has funded to build a stronger leftwing community in Anchorage. Nationally, the Party for Socialism and Liberation has recently been focused on support for terrorists.

“Jasmin Smith, the owner of the 3001 Porcupine building, found the building space through connections with community leaders and the Municipality of Anchorage to start the purchasing process. Jasmin presented her vision and purpose for the building to the Anchorage Assembly. Jasmin Smith’s vision was and continues to be to set up a coworking center for the diverse unprivileged community of Mountain View. As the logo states, it collides with business and culture,” her website states.

In short, taxpayers paid for a building that is now the center of activity for the Party for Socialism and Liberation.

  1. The only thing Felix could liberate is an extra-large pizza from his frig — and I get the feeling that he has done a LOT of liberating in that area.

  2. Maybe I’ve just been alive too long… How, in any shape or fashion, does anyone buy into this nonsense? The blindness caused by depravity is astounding.

  3. I worked at the Muni. The Porcupine property is a multiroom, one story building that was owned by the Muni when I was there. It was an old State DOT office bldg that might have been obtained when Mayor Dan was there (not sure when we got it) It is set up like a small grade school w/ a couple of long hallways lined on both sides by small offices and a break room. I remember Sullivan was considering it to “store” the possessions of homeless campers after the ACLU shut Mayor Dan down on cleaning up the massive camps behind our house near the Sullivan Arena. I always though it would make a decent housing solution for the homeless, 4 people to a room, but they would have to install a few showers. We kept it empty, heated & winterized when I was there. It is located in a very industrial area between Commercial Dr & the Glen, away from any housing or stores (perfect location imo) But having our bolshevick’s sell it to America hating liberals like themselves (to train more Leftists) is a much better use for it I suppose.
Had enough yet ANC? Keep voting for the “union” candidates supported by the IBEW.

    • “…….Had enough yet ANC?…….”
Not even close. This ride will go all the way to and through the bottom. As a very old piece of Valley Trash, witnessing the social and cultural destruction of Anchorage has been very entertaining, but one result is the flood of refugees coming out here. The vast majority are desirables, but the more people we get, the more problems come with them. But I won’t have to tolerate any of this much longer. “Where, Oh Death, is your victory? Where, Oh Death, is your sting?……….”

    • Union members get paid to vote. We don’t. They have a much greater incentive to vote for Marxists, than we have to vote for fiscal responsibility.

      • While at the Muni we were let off half a day to vote & paid for the day if we voted.
One supervisor would request the “I voted” sticker the next day
The other two I had didn’t bother to check, they just paid you for the day.

Interestingly Mayor Begich signed off on a deal to allow ALL Muni employees free bus rides.
So it you were a maid at a hotel, making $12/hr you paid for your bus ride, but if you were a well paid, unionized city employee you rode for free.

This is how the Left helps low income “working” people
By arranging things so that well paid public “servants” vote & keep them in power.

      • Naomi his triple chin is not as cute as in the picture.
I witnessed him loitering in Fred’s on Abbot a couple weeks ago and havent had the stomach to return. It bothers me that he occupies public spaces where children frequently get separated from their parent.

  4. What is wrong with people! The host of this event supports Hamas where they have killed babies and raped women. Israel has the right to defend themselves. I didn’t think these types of people would come to Alaska and spread socialism and liberalism and be accepted. Time to wake up people! This should NOT be happening in my hometown!
What’s even more upsetting is the news doesn’t even report on this! Frickin liberals!

    • The media is bought and paid for. Straight propaganda. And now,,, back to Jackie with another, another and another look at the weather.

  5. Where was Senator Elvi Gray Jackson??
This meeting was right down her alley. She could of drawn from her proven anti -American, pro Socialist or even full blown pro-communist “expert” list for time burners at Senate Committee hearings.

    Can Anchorage get any crazier?

  6. I am a baby boomer. My father and many other fathers in my family fought in WW2. It was a war essentially between good and evil. The western countries , including the USA, liberated the Jews from the holocaust and it was followed by the Nuremberg trials. We stood for freedom, liberty and justice.
It is horrifying to see so many now gunning for terrorists and rallying for the end of Israel. The holocaust was the one of the most despicable horrors ever in modern history. It was just approx. 60 years ago. The assault and murder of the Jews at the hands of Hamas is entirely ignored while rallying for Palestinians–who by the way are just tools of Hamas. What has happened? How did we get here?
Felix Rivera should watch the movie the “Holocaust”. How about “Saving Private Ryan?”And by the way, where the hell is Steven Spielberg? Can Hollywood please stand up for a change and call out this BS?! God help us.

    • The catty Felix is interested in radicalism, aberrant sexuality and food. He cares nothing for traditional American and Alaskan values. But his district keeps voting him in… I guess.

        • You know who they are, they only say things that implicitly or tangentially show their true colors…since they are cowards they won’t outright state their antisemitism the way that some moronic elected officials will. At least these American hating antisemites are open and honest about their hatred.

          • Steve, your paranoia and disingenousness about the whole “anti-semitism” issue is really off the charts, and increasingly unhinged and divorced from all reality. You display the wildly exaggerated and off-base persecution and victimization complex of the worst ‘woke’ radical leftist.

          • Jeff, have you ever heard the saying about throwing a rock into a pack of dogs and how you know which one you hit?

          • Jeff,
Indeed I have, I practice them on a daily and an hourly basis…you wouldn’t recognize what that looks like though, I seriously doubt you even understand the meaning of those words given your track record with what words mean.

The saying about the throwing a rock into a pack of dogs is that you know which one you hit because it yelps first.

  7. Absolutely none of this is surprising. Absent some motivation on the Right, Rivera and his fellow travelers will take and convert ALL of local government programs and policies to the purposes of the Left. (The Anchorage School District kinda has the same feel, doesn’t it?). They no longer make any effort to disguise their intentions. The “fundamental transformation” envisioned by Barack Obama continues.

  8. Sadly enough it apears that Hamas is supported not only by Iran but has been supported by the Israelis themselves. It’s a mess. I suspect that God is the only one who can help with this train wreck.

    • Doesn’t matter if 100% of the voters show up. Or 180% of them.
It is the ridiculous mail in system, and zero transparency in the counting that is going to ensure the leftists remain in office.

  9. There is nothing JEWISH about the ISRAELI GOVERNMENT’s treatment of Palestinians. Condemning the ISRAELI GOVERNMENT is not ANTI-SEMITIC and supporting PALESTINIANS is not supporting HAMAS.

    • Every so often, some people go out of their way to show the world who and what they are.

      Let’s take Ray here.

Ray has shown us he is ignorant of history, culture, politics, and current events. And seemingly proud of it.

Ray, one can safely assume, is a public school graduate.

          • Go ahead Greg and make it quick, I am interested to see what you think was correct and what was not.
As for Lori throwing out the “abuse” snare is really a pathetic way to attempt to end the debate about the real topic. It seems to be employed to excuse the antisemitic rant Raymond posted.
MA is posting his impressions as he sees it. Jumping to conclusions about Raymond’s education is a leap as he may also be a college indoctrinated person.
It should also be noted that “Raymond” did not respond to any of the other postings defending his points in a more coherent manner, proving MA point.

          • It’s almost embarrassing how badly Greg wants my attention and approval.

Counter one of his “points”, he goes into overdrive with 4th grade style arguments and insults. But people gotta go with what works, I suppose.

To his “point” regarding how often I’m right, you can’t count that high.

I’d say it was a good try, but it wasn’t.

    • there are no “innocent victims” in this conflict.
The question is what side is the aggressor, and is the response appropriate or an escalation? Is hamas’ invasion and terrorist acts warranted because of what Israel did? Not by any reasonable standard. Will Israel’s response to this terrorist attack be warranted? Will it be restrained and limited (to the extent possible) to strictly military targets? (HINT: Yes is the correct answer.)
      .
If you are basing your assessment of Israel on news media coverage, you have well below half the story. More like 1/8th of it.
Of course, if you actually had more than 50% of the story, your comment would not have been written.

    • Huh?
“There is nothing JEWISH about the ISRAELI GOVERNMENT’s treatment of Palestinians.”
Please explain Raymond. Are you saying that Israelis in their government are NOT Jews? If that were correct then what are the Palestinians complaining about, since it would logically follow that they are Arab brethrens?
It should be pointed out that Palestinians were offered land for their own state multiple times, yet rejected it every time. Instead they demand Israel to be wiped off the map. To that purpose, Palestinian rockets, suicide bombers etc were deployed to create havoc in Israel for many decades. While not every Palestinian is Hamas, they are a sympathetic populace and the pool from which Hamas recruits from. Palestinians are routinely seen chanting “Death to Israel” and recent protests in Australia had Palestinian supporters scream “Gas the Jews”. If that isn’t antisemitic, your definition needs work. Hiding behind “it’s the government” is a cop-out when Israeli civilians are raped, murdered and kidnapped.

  10. Socialism is so great, people risk their lives fleeing it.
    .
When the Berlin wall fell, what direction did the people run? Toward or away from socialism?
    .
Oh… I know… that was not real socialism. Neither was every other failed attempt at it. But, I am sure, Anchorage will get it right.

  11. socialism = communism. You live in a collective apartment and work a collective job. Everyone has the same low standard of living except, of course, the elitists who run the show for you and protect you from yourself.

      • Yes ….. too many secular hippies in Israel now, many of them were dancing at an all night rave by the Gaza border & paid a price.
The old war ready Jews are being replaced by liberal leftist & Hamas knows this is a weakness

  12. Most of the time I do not agree with Bill Maher, but he made an especially apt point, since Felix and gang are so enamored with “land acknowledgement”.

“Maher noted that if you did a “land acknowledgment” in Israel — as some Americans do to acknowledge Native American land in the U.S. — then you’d be forced to admit that Jews controlled the land long before Muslims.”

    • Being honest isn’t a strength of the left. It’s more about virtue signaling and shows of penance, just look at the wailing and gnashing of teeth regarding the murderous terrorists who killed innocent unarmed Israeli women, children, and elderly…they have been celebrating them for the last week, the leftists and those who side with them continue to do so even in this comment section.

    • Jews were in Israel approx 1,800 years before Muhammad invented his religion in 600 AD
      It is very well documented.
How does the world let the PLO say Israel is “their” land?

Also the 2 most sacred places for Islam are Mecca & Medina in Saudi Arabia
Why have do these parasites insist Jerusalem, the land of Judaism & Christianity, is sacred to them?
They claim Muhammad flew on a horse from Jerusalem to Heaven, so they built a Mosque there
It’s called “the Dome of the Rock” and is the center piece of every photo of the old city.

This bunch were trouble ever since they were established in 600 AD.
600 hundred years after Christ and 1.800 years after Moses.

The Muslims know all this & consider Abraham, Moses & Jesus as sent from God
If only we would “submit” to their will

    • Excellent point which verifies history BUT when it comes to coexistence on the Earth today someone/everyone is going to have to live with others in closer proximity without killing beheading raping or there is always the nuclear holocaust route in which no one survives….. but they will still have their land.
