Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport is known as a cargo flight hub, one of the busiest in the world. This week, a new start-up air cargo based in Mexico received approval to begin serving in the U.S. and will be seen by plane-spotters coming and going from Anchorage.

Awesome Cargo joins about 47 air carriers — 27 domestic and 18 international — that come through Anchorage, with about 44 cargo destinations served.

Anchorage ranks third in the world for cargo transit through its airport and in 2023 Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport surpassed Shanghai Pudong Airport. About 3.461 million tons of cargo flies in and out of Anchorage annually.

  1. Harris visited the Mexican president recently right? Then, a small Ohio town got slammed with 50,000 unknowns. Hmmmm. I am wagering that the cargo they will be bringing to Alaska is in human skin sacks.

  2. And I was thinking the very same prior to reading the comment section. Sheeeeeeee, not that we are of great minds, but consistent in content.

  3. Oh yes! Human cargo will come in bulk. The fine citizens of Alaska will be forced to house, clothe, feed, and entertain them. Look at Aurora, CO and Ohio, its coming our way!

  4. One gets the eerie sense that in a year or two we will hear, that “surprise surprise!”……tens of $millions of drugs are coming into the U.S. via Anchorage airport….

  5. Mary Peltola was just saying we need to import more foreigners to Alaska because we need more workers. It’s coming and if you think Anchorage is bad now………..

  6. Yukon Cornelius, Peltola said Alaskans did not want to work. I call hockey pucks on that! The jobs just aren’t there.

  7. Some intelligent people commenting on here. It doesn’t say they are delivering cargo here, just that they are landing here, like thousands of flights every year, re-fueling and moving on again.

  8. Really? I’ve spent decades in law enforcement, local, federal and foreign. This will result in increased serious crime in Ak. As if we don’t have enough now.

  9. Really? Why don’t you explain how the 8000 flights a month from over 18 international carriers has increased the crime rate in Alaska. Illegals are going to be pouring out of the wheel wells with their pockets full of fentanyl.

  10. protect our dogs and cats!!! ban Chinese restaurants and latino dishwashers

reactivate Sullivan to patrol the fences at the airport

who can make any sense for allowing this to happen???
