Big endorsement rolls in from Rep. Jim Jordan for Nick Begich for Congress

Rep. Jim Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, endorsed Alaskan Nick Begich today for Congress.

“Nick Begich is a proven conservative, a successful businessman, and a passionate advocate for Alaska’s future. In Congress, Nick will be an America First champion. This race is critical to keeping the House and growing the Republican Majority. Now, more than ever, we need principled conservatives in Congress to take on the radical left’s dangerous ideas,” said Jordan, who serves Ohio in Congress.

Begich, who has the endorsement of the House Republican Majority, is taking on Rep. Mary Peltola, the far-left Democrat who now represents Alaska. His list of endorsements continues apace, and includes Speaker Mike Johnson, Rep. Byron Donalds, Rep. Elise Stefanik, Rep. Steve Scalise, Rep. Scott Perry, and Sen. Mike Lee.

Jordan has been one of Donald Trump’s most outspoken allies. He is a founding member of the House Freedom Caucus, which he chaired from 2015 to 2017. The House Freedom Caucus was an early endorser of Begich when he stepped into the race.

Peltola voted against Jordan for speaker in 2023, and voted instead for New York’s Rep. Hakeem Jeffries. She ended up casting 18 votes for Jeffries, who is the leader of the Democrats in Congress.

Jordan has been a fighter, while serving as chair of the Judiciary Committee, investigating social media companies for censoring conservatives and conservative accounts. Recently, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg sent a letter to Jordan, admitted that the Biden Administration had pressured Facebook and his other properties to censor people who wrote about Covid, if their opinions went against the government party line.

He has been a fighter against the weaponization of the government against everyday Americans.

  1. She has been in government gravy jobs too long. It is time for her to go back to whatever she knows how to do because she definitely has not been effective in Congress.

  2. Jungle Jim Jordan wants to make sure his circus continues to be dysfunctional. When he loses the majority he’ll go back to being a conspiracy theorist of little relevance.

  3. At least Jordan was smart enough to wait until after the primary and after Dahlstrom withdrew to endorse.

  4. Two things hurting Nick: bitter Young and Palin supporters who can get past their own hurt feelings, and moderates who vote based on how “nice” they think someone is. Mary could literally be burning down their home, holding the torch, and if they find her smile to be warmer than Nick’s they are voting for her. There are some so called “conservatives” in this group. The other group just has a hard time letting go of a perceived slight and may very well watch the country burn down to hang on to their hate. This is the unique state that Alaska is. It’s not insurmountable- but it’ll require surrogates attacking Mary, so Nick can appear nice, and it will require the base, that supports Nick, getting vastly more people out to vote than they historically have. The numbers are there among white, blue collar, republican leaning voters- but they don’t vote in nearly the numbers needed. So get out the vote is huge, and however the message can be tempered as to not to offend the middle, is going to be critical. Trump and D&D endorsing won’t hurt, but its help will be negligible next to the other two components.

  5. Is this the same Rep. Jordan who investigates and holds hearings and bloviates yet does nothing? Are we sure his endorsing Begich is a good thing? Begich gets my vote because he’s leagues better than the lightweight we now have representing all Alaskans. Until Jordan starts putting obviously corrupt and law-breaking people in jail, as the Dems have done, count me unimpressed by this endorsement.

      • Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro might disagree with you. But then again we might be splitting hairs on the reasons why. But jail is jail. Democrats use it in the same way they use law-fare. Republicans are afraid to use the lock and key in the same way their “friends across the aisle” do.

        • To repeat, congress cannot put American citizens in jail. That requires a prosecutor or grand jury. Jim Jordan can only identify and expose corruption. It is up to the Justice Department to prosecute. The problem is, as you may know, the Justice Department itself is corrupt and politicized. Corruption in our government runs wide and deep.

  6. Well said Lawrence, I fall into the category of voting for Palin. That is past and all of us who care about Alaska’s future need to vote for Nick.
I attended a forum last go around in 2020, when there were six candidates.
Peltola was easily out classed buy every body else in forum. As Begich easily out performed Peltola when facing the Oil Industry.
Vote Begich, and implore everyone you know to vote Begich.

  7. Poor Begich. It’s probably political suicide to reject an endorsement from a high profile representative.

Then fool’s approval stings. – TS Eliot
