The public previously spoke regarding the 3% sales tax at the regular assembly meeting on December 2, 2026.

Tomorrow, AFP Alaska will gather at 5pm for sign waving. Free signs and t-shirts will be available for participants. At 6pm, AFP Alaska will provide participants with pizza and refreshments before heading into the Assembly Chambers to testify at 7pm against the new sales tax.

According to the AFP Alaska’s website, AFP Alaska’s top priority is saying “no!” to new taxes. They also champion a state spending cap, expanded healthcare options, financial stability, and educational choice.

  1. Too late! Our ‘gold digger’ mayor now is after a cool $12 million- and all from the unfortunate property owners here in Anchorage. Boy- she never quits! Where is ANY discussion on how to lower our city’s costs by our mayor?

  2. Just think what could have been for Anchorage if the lazy stay at home people got off their asses and voted. She wouldn’t have been mayor.

  3. What makes anyone think they can speak at the assembly meeting?
We nolonger have free speech in Anchorahe, that POS Chrissy Constantly complaining put and end to who is “allowed” to speak at HIS assembly meetings. Under his power grabs, he has given himself, the assembly, power over the city, the mayor, the citizens and has control of our voting/ballots.
Face it, anchorage went total commie under him. Yo7 got what you voted for, a commie city run by AWFLs and their ilk.

    • What we voted for?
How would I know what I actually voted for? Ever since the muni went 100% mail in voting, I have zero confidence my vote was actually counted. And, how do I know any of the other mailed in ballots were actually filled in by the voters? Remove accountability, and the election process loses any and all voter confidence.

  4. This article is a day late. The mayor has given up on the dead in the water sales tax and now is seeking to scam voters for a “one time” levy for schools.

  5. And, yet… the roads are not adequately plowed days after the snow ended. But, at least we can all sleep well at night knowing our tax dollars are being spent ensuring the vagrants are warm, comfortable, and well fed in a Mark Begich owned hotel. Thank god for LaFrance.

    • If the vagrant thrashes Mr. Begich’s hotel room, are we taxpayers on the hook to remodel/repair/up-grade the room?

      • Absolutely. In fact, Begich wants that to happen. The Aviator hotel downtown is a perfect example of the business model. It was a dump, until Begich rented it out to the homeless industrial complex. Now, it is one of the nicest places in town. All thanks to your tax dollars.

  6. NO on the tax she proposed as Sales tax and No on any other tax she wants to create…….Yes for an audit by the federal government from Covid Pandemic money up to today. Audit the federal monies on any other program to the city and the state. DOJ needs to get with it in Anchorage. DOJ and FBI and ICE needs yo get with it ion the State of Alaska. The state and city needs an audit of all federal monies used.
