Elon Musk says he’ll back DeSantis for president in 2024

The richest person in the world — the man who just bought Twitter — says he’ll back Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for president in 2024, should DeSantis choose to run. Elon Musk, who was once a supporter of President Obama and even voted for Biden, said on Twitter that he can’t support President Biden this time around. He made his remark about supporting DeSantis in a response to a question from a Twitter account.

“As a reminder, I was a significant supporter of the Obama-Biden presidency and (reluctantly) voted for Biden over Trump,” Musk wrote on his Twitter feed Friday. “But freedom of speech is the bedrock of a strong democracy and must take precedence. My preference for the 2024 presidency is someone sensible and centrist. I had hoped that would the case for the Biden administration, but have been disappointed so far.”

Musk added, “But Twitter as a platform must be fair to all.”

Former President Donald Trump announced earlier this month that he will run for president in 2024, to mixed reviews from conservatives.

DeSantis has not yet announced, but his campaign for governor was successful this month, and he goes into his second term with the support of 59.4% of voters, with former Gov. Charlie Crist only getting 40%. The near landslide came after DeSantis has been at the conservative forefront of the culture wars on issues such woke-ism, transgender indoctrination in schools, education, abortion, free markets, and Covid policy.

  1. The Donald will be apoplectic over this. Intolerable to see anyone else getting attention. Like Mr. Musk, I am all in for Ron D. Time for a new generation of leaders.

    • How about “Musk 2024” — that’ll get them all going into a tail-spin, bring it on Elon, let the games commence! ?

      • Too bad Elon is not a natural born US citizen, he was born in South Africa.

He got the start of his fortune from his apartheid favoring emerald mining daddy.

  2. Before you mess with Twitter, please fix your cars that can’t really drive themselves and that self-ignite in our garages. Stick to your knitting, Musk.

    • Now that Elon has switched sides where are the liberals going to come up with witty comments?

Weak sauce Tesla fire comments just are not going to cut it.

Libs are in more trouble than they know.

    • You shoulda thought about that before you killed the Diesel engine; strong, SAFE, fuel efficient, reliable and long lasting. #dingbatliberalsstrikeagain

      • All these Starbucks-loving, oil-hating environmental warriors love to wear synthetic (made from oil) products whilst heading up to Flattop in their Subarus to desecrate the flag pole up there. #theyarepricelesshypocrites

  3. Trump has lost the popular vote twice, by large margins. Trump could not even beat Hillary Clinton- in the popular vote. Losing to a corrupt, demented, mean head of the Biden Crime Family shows the votes are just not there for Trump.

Time for a new generation to take over. We can not afford four more years of the Democrat corruption and incompetence. We now have the highest fuel prices in history; the highest inflation in 40 years; millions of illegal aliens pouring across the border, and high crime levels in major cities in history.

Desantis will garner more votes than Trump in the general election. Desantis does not have the baggage that Trump carries. Desantis actually served his country, while Trump was avoiding service with “bone spurs”. Densantis never backed Hillary Clinton like Trump did (years ago).

Rational conservative will not be backing Trump.

  4. Musk formerly sided with the Democrats but he can’t and won’t hide what he is, a Capitalist. Make a product and sell it for a profit, that’s how this country was built. All the top Demos are Capitalists, they just don’t admit it and since they fund the Democrat machine they all look away.

    • Space Station resupply, astronaut taxi service, satellite launches, global internet coverage. Shall we go on, or is your brain (finally) slowly engaging Lucinda?

We could however, go with your “non-plan” Lucinda, and use the Russians to populate the ISS, at USS taxpayer expense, and resupply it, and also remove all the Ukraine satellite (internet) coverage SpaceX (Musk’s SpaceX) and let the Russians have free reign there too.

Are you a “Russian Commie Lover” Lucinda, or are you a free thinking/living proud lover of this American republic? #rhetoricalquestionbtw

    • Because he knows where the bodies are buried and he also knows where the aliens are. Those two things right there give you some sort of authority. We’d already be on the moon and on Mars if he wasn’t forced to take a back seat to Orion so that NASA doesn’t end up with egg on their face.

  5. I like what DeSantis (eventually) did to counter the mass psychosis of federally-orchestrated, cult-like Covidianism, but his unwavering fealty to a foreign nation (Israel) leaves me questioning his integrity.

    • But your comment I would gather that you don’t believe that the Jews are the chosen people. I don’t know if you’re right or wrong if that’s your belief, but even the Muslims believe that the Exodus happened and there was a guy named Moses. I think that if Iran’s scorched Earth policy towards Israel isn’t stopped, if and when JC and the boys return, they’re going to be pretty pissed when they land if Israel is gone. That’s not going to happen though. Jesus said he’ll come back and stop all that nonsense at a place called Armageddon so really whatever happens happens.

      • Gregory, whether I believe that the Jews are God’s chosen people is utterly irrelevant to the discussion here. My objection to Ron DeSantis has NOTHING to do with the Jews, or any particular people in general. It is a simple fact that he has expressed fealty to a foreign nation, and has even advocated the criminalization of criticism of the ruling regime of that nation. How is this in any way congruent with respect for free speech, and with holding primary if not sole loyalty to one’s own nation?

        • Jeff, maybe he’s just saying that they’ve been given the stinky end of the stick way too often and he’s going to defend them no matter what. I don’t think it means he’s going to not support America, his duty in the military supports that. He kept many Navy seals out of prison by helping plan their missions so that the leftists didn’t throw them in Leavenworth.
