By BOB BIRD
“Life begins at conception! Legal protection for the unborn, from Conception until natural death’ Democrats are the party of death! Only a madman would vote Democrat!”
We have heard this for a long time, and from many apparent pro-lifers, who are seemingly just fine with IVF, beginning with Donald Trump and JD Vance. These might include untold numbers of married couples who march against surgical abortion, even while they themselves contracept with low estrogen pills, which sometimes functions as a micro-abortion drug.
Many, upon learning that contraception not only diminishes the value of the preborn, but aborts them, have writhed in angst and sorrow on what they thought was merely preventing conception — only to discover that it often creates the destruction of a conceived human being made “in the image and likeness of God” — one of their own children.
Then we have the dishonest American Medical Association, that bastion of medical gravitas, which has redefined “conception” to mean “implantation”. This was done several decades ago in order to assuage the emotions of pro-life mothers who used Low E pills, distributed by Planned Parenthood as a “safer” alternative to regular pills, and also IUDs — intra-uterine devices — that used copper wires to create a hostile environment for conceived children, attempting to implant themselves in their mother’s womb.
All this was promoted in the 1950s and 60s by Planned P as a way to supposedly strengthen families: fewer children would mean quality children. And women would be free to enter the workforce! And leave their children to day care facilities. Something that Marxists had being doing for decades.
Satire: And, as we all know, divorce rates have dropped, children have become more secure, women are more revered than ever before, and men continue to have an equal hand in the guidance of the children.
Yet the news is currently good: The Trump Administration is dropping its support for federal funding of IVF. Aside from the fact that the idea of federal funding for IVF is utterly unconstitutional, it is also evil. It makes a mockery of the claim that, “Life begins at conception.” It mocks God, the Lord and giver of life, while pretending to be on His side. It gives fodder to the culture of death that accuses pro-lifers that they are selective about their own supposed beliefs.
It is not unreasonable to assume that this exposed inconsistency is a result of prayer on the part of prolifers, who love both Trump and the unborn, and wish for him to come into line with Divine Will. We all knew that Donald Trump was a flawed human being. He has a lot of company, along with the rest of us. How he and JD Vance learn the truth is irrelevant. The bottom line is, we all have gone that route — and repented.
Let us pray that Trump and Vance see this as a benign correction from God, and admit it. We will not win this fight unless and until we admit that contraception cheapens human life, that it sets the table for massive human extermination, and that we need to humble ourselves before God as we endeavor to bring our government — and nation — to the Truth, despite the failure of both Protestant and Catholic preaching.
The Catholic Church has not changed its teaching, but has abdicated preaching this truth among most of its bishops and priests. Now, evangelicals are awakening to how they have been deceived, and recognized that 100 years ago, their teaching mirrored what the official Catholic teaching has never wavered from. It is time that a new evangelization arises, that will unite Christan denominations:
Not only is surgical and chemical abortion wrong, but also … micro-abortion! Sleepers: awake! Preach the unpopular truth, which Christ never hesitated. Lose some, but gain even more.
And save your own souls in the process!

Bob Bird; Senator Ted Stevens was pro-choice, did you ever vote for him?
Ted Stevens was a classic Alaska RINO, in the vein of Rob Yundt and Jubilee Underwood
I thought everyone knew I ran against him as a Republican in 1990, constantly reminding Alaskans that Stevens was pro-abortion. And again in 2008. I debated him on live TV on this issue. I have also written more recent columns explaining that he tried to make Roe v. Wade a federal statute, an issue Democrats did not get around to until Biden/Harris. This will answer your question.
Pro-choice is not pro-abortion, but thanks for your reply.
Sure buddy. You hold that thought.
“Pro-choice” is such a broad euphemism. I’ll have the house salad, what will you choose? No, that term “pro-choice” describes an absolutely horrific event. After all, what’s being aborted, cut short, stopped dead in its tracks? Yes, it is a human life stopped before the end God would choose, kind of like a homicide.
Your religion is unproven.
What gets me is, so called pro-lifers that would not hesitate to throw a gunny sack of puppies over the bridge.
I have no idea what the author just said. What is he talking about? IVF is equivalent to abortion? What?
Mr Bird, I completely agree with you (and the teachings of the Catholic church, for what it is worth) about abortion and IVF. That being said, the hard stance against IVF bears a bit more explanation.
So many couples who want to have children, but struggle with fertility, see IVF as their *best* option — not knowing that the vast majority of the embryos that are created by synthetic means are discarded just like surgically aborted children. Without understanding and agreeing with that critical information, the hard stance against IVF comes across as heartless and bewildering to couples who deeply desire to bring life into the world.
How can we take a step back and fully explain the horrors of IVF in a way that helps lovingly bring understanding to our brothers and sisters who simply want biological children by whatever means possible? I would love to read your thoughts on this.
Thank you for weighing in on this important and often misunderstood matter.
Bob bird, did you ever have the idea that 72 vaccination schedule which was made the notm may have been a scheme to decrease the reproduction rate in the millennial and gen z ? You are a fraud acting out against ivf and the opportunities it represents to parents who need the help to conceive. SD, this is a completely offensive garbage article you published.
So then what do you think happens to all the fetuses created but not implanted? Why do you think they implant so many and off strategically abort a few if too many implant?
Ironic that you invoke God in your article. God (or nature by way of another definition) is the biggest abortionist of them all. About 50% of all pregnancies result in miscarriages. I’m assuming this doesn’t bother the author in the least.
Here’s a thought; why don’t you mind your own friggin business? Don’t like abortion? Simple. Don’t get one. Problem solved!
Please site the source of your statistics of miscarriage rate.
God is the giver of life; He may take it at His discretion.
What a weird, freakish take.
Aw, more chirping, eh, Big Bob–and from the top of the roost!
Bob, as a guy on this subject I don’t put much thought into what you have to say.
Because men can’t have a say in not wanting children killed?
You are what’s known as a Nutjob Mr Bird, or to put it more factually American Taliban.
How many angels can dance on the head of a pin? How many sex traffickers are pro-life?
Pro-lifers aren’t-pro-life, they’re pro birth. Once a child is born, they’re on their own and that same crowd could care less what happens to them.
Were you dropped on your head as an infant?
Read the Alaska Constitution, the Constitution does not allow the government to interfere with with health decisions between an individual and their doctor
Christianity is like Trump – the source of many problems. Forcing biblical definitions and restrictions on natural processes can be an attack on reason.
Manny Mukken, you confound me with you dazzling brilliance. Since when are IVF, surgical and chemical abortions, artificial contraception, and euthanasia considered “natural processes”?
Recommended reading from the National Catholic Bioethics Center (a tremendous resource!):
This fleshes out Bird’s positions more clearly and points out that there’s a growing body of scientific inquiry and actual treatments available for various causes of infertility that most people never hear about due to the popularity (and industry) of IVF.
Interesting perspective. As an aside Mr Bird, as you promote your opinions as biblical truth; I suggest you try actually reading scripture and you’ll find your salutation “And save your own souls in the process!” to be a slap in the face of the message of salvation through Christ. It is by faith alone that we are saved, not by works. But that’s not the message of Catholicism is it? Please stop spreading false doctrine.
“For just as the body without spirit is dead, so also is faith without works dead.” -James 2:26
Works are the palpable, demonstrable expression of true faith. Faith is asserted when it is accompanied by action, works. Works are the proof that faith is animated and not mere lifeless assent. Jesus: Peter do you love me? Peter: Yes, Lord you know that I love you. Jesus: Then feed my sheep. A yes to the Lord must be followed with action – good works, works demonstrating faith in Him.
Know that Catholics do not subscribe to Sola Scriptura “the Bible alone” as many Protestants do. There are other sources of divine revelation, divine truth, in addition to the Bible. Recall that the Church predates the Bible, declaring its sacred books. The Church instituted the Bible not the other way around. Church Tradition and Scripture are the sources of Divine Revelation – not scripture alone. There are those that would say that YOU are spreading a false or incomplete doctrine my friend.
Works are a result and demonstration of our faith. But I’ll trust in my full surrender of self and my faith in Jesus Christ and that faith alone (lest I boast). I’m a wreck and of little value other than what God has planned for me. You don’t need God’s grace? Just keep trying on your own and rely on “other sources”. That sure sounds like boasting. Grace to you.
Freedom you attribute words to me that I cleary did not say. I did not deny the indispensable need for God’s grace but I DID say the natural response to receiving God’s grace IS good works. We must respond and obey by feeding His sheep. Wherein is the boast?
And there are ADDITIONAL sources of Divine Revelation other than sacred scripture as previously stated. An exceedingly large slice of Christendom, dare I say the vast and ancient majority, do not subscribe to Sola Scriptura “the Bible alone”. God to this day continues to reveal Himself through His Church. Tradition and Scripture are the two lungs of revelation.
