President Joe Biden signed an executive order Wednesday to help cover travel expenses for women seeking an abortion.
In a meeting with the administration’s newly formed Task Force on Reproductive Healthcare Access Wednesday, Biden signed the order which directed the Health and Human Services Department to consider using funds, including Medicaid, to support women traveling out of state for abortion services.
“Today’s Executive Order builds on the first Executive Order that I signed last month to safeguard access to health care – including abortion care – that was ripped away,” Biden said on Twitter. “I told you I wouldn’t back down. That hasn’t changed.”
The order also directed the department to ensure healthcare providers comply with federal non-discrimination laws when offering such services and ordered it to collect data to measure the impact of the ruling on maternal health.
Critics quickly pushed back on the order.
“Our country is in a recession, Americans can’t afford gas or groceries, and yet all Joe Biden cares about is pushing his radical and unpopular late-term abortion agenda,” said Ronna McDaniel, Republican National Committee Chairwoman. “Republicans will continue to fight for commonsense pro-life protections and the pocketbook issues that families care about.”
Critics also argued that the executive order violates the Hyde Amendment, legislation prohibiting any federal funds from being used on abortion, except when a mother’s life is at risk.
“Is no one else concerned that Biden’s priority is to ensure children are dead instead of fed?” Students for Life said in a statement after the order was announced. “Where is the executive order on baby formula?”
The executive order comes a day after voters in Kansas voted to stop an amendment to the state constitution allowing further abortion restrictions in the state.
“I don’t think the Supreme Court or for that matter Congressional Republicans – who for decades have pushed their extremist agenda – have a clue about the power of American women,” Biden said on Twitter. “Last night in Kansas they found out.”
Gotta kill them babies. This is borderline fetishtistic. Does foreplay for these people include “get me pregnant so I can kill a baby?” Do they discuss the procedure as some twisted dirty talk during sex?
Fed gonna help pay my travel expenses for non life terminating medical care? Somehow I doubt it. Yet another double standard by the left.
Gotta wonder what happens when a guy who swears he’s a pregnant girl demands a federally funded abortion trip?
Sometimes I think the Muslims are right and we have become too decadent to continue to exist. Maybe that’s why so many on the hard left are pro ISIS. They preform preemptive abortions via bombing.
There you have it Biden down with Covid but still able to rescue those who want to continue the killing of the unborn….
Trying to buy votes when his own party wants him gone.
Biden falsely calls it “health care.” Killing babies is not health care, and violates doctors’ oath to “do no harm.”
Taxpayers forced to pay women’s travel expenses to kill their babies, and then go shopping or vacationing, paid by us!
Pure evil!
Kill babies is and has always been the Democrat way. I have never been abe to figure why not take birth control pills and stop killing our babies, Why don’t you consider stop being promiscuous. TAKE PRECAUTIONS!!
Just women? Seems kind of sexist, elitist, segregationist to me. Which is to say typical of democrats.
I haven’t had a vasectomy yet, can I get paid to travel to the lower 48 to get one? It’s the same principle, kill ‘em before they hatch. I’m going to need paid time off to heal also, and grief counseling.
I think it can take up to six weeks to recover fully from a vasectomy. I am pretty sure I can do that on Miami beach.
I’m thinking Cancun.
Executive orders only apply on federal land. This will just go get squashed in the Supreme Court, taxation without representation ring a bell?
Where in the world did you ever hear that? That’s not how executive orders work. Didn’t you hear the executive order that Harry Truman gave that placed all the steel mills under Federal control? Those were privately owned companies. Then there’s the executive order put out by FDR about the country morning when a president dies and flags being lowered to half staff. That goes for every flagpole in the nation not just those on top of federal buildings. Go outside and look from horizon to horizon in the United States. That’s the jurisdiction of a presidential executive action. The only thing that can stop it is the term that it applies to or if it is determined be unconstitutional.
Not exactly true.
.
An executive order applies to Federal Agencies. What this EO does is tell the Executive Branch Departments/Agencies to spend tax payer dollars on abortion travel. That expenditure can happen anywhere. This order does not apply to private or public companies.
.
As to the comment about taxation, I agree 100%. Using my taxpayer dollars to fund an elective/convenience procedure is unacceptable.
Yes it applies to federal agencies but the trickle down makes it apply to everyone. What federal agency was all the steel mills under Truman? But I agree with you, I don’t want my tax dollars paying for someone to fly to Hawaii to get an abortion. Most insurance companies and health insurance is heavily subsidized by the federal government so they can pretty much write the book The Way they want to.
I’m pregnant, no I’m pregnant, no I’m pregnant…………………… (say all ye fake-females who want a free flight)
Let those “fake females” with fake “fantom pregnancies” step forward and show the “Brandonites” up for the morons they are.Come forward people, free flights, free hotel rooms and free meals await.
“…I signed last month to safeguard access to health care – including abortion care…”
Since when has abortion been health care? How does abortion for convenience constitute healthcare in any way? A healthy mother carrying a healthy child to term is the very definition of healthy. Stopping that process for convenience is the opposite of caring for ones health.
.
“…have a clue about the power of American women,” ” Biden better look in a mirror. There are plenty of women that are anti-abortion. It is not all Republican males.
.
Finally, what justification does the Federal Government have for funding elective medical procedures? Abortion for convenience is an elective, non-medically necessary procedure. It is no different than cosmetic surgery. But, now Medicaid is being told to find a way to fund this elective procedure. Can’t wait to send them the bill for my liposuction. And, since they will pay for travel, I am heading to Costa Rica for some dental implants on the taxpayer’s dime. I am thinking three to five weeks for the process.
That means WE the taxpayers pay to enable something we abhor.
Kind of turns taxation into slavery, doesn’t it?
Imagine being a person of faith, whether Catholic, Mormon, Baptist, Muslim, Hindu, Jew, Methodist, etc. and being told that YOUR tax dollars will be taken to fund murder of the unborn.
Americans now have a moral choice to make. Pay money to the IRS where your money will fund murder and violate your core convictions.
Or, don’t pay the IRS anything.
Americans now have to decide what is more important- their faith, or funding murder.
For many, the moral choice is easy: defund the federal government. The alternative may be civil war.
FJB
M,
Don’t forget the IRS is currently very well armed with $700,000.00 of ammo purchased between march and June of this year according to Congressman Gatz
After biDen disarms us do you really want to buck the Worthless faulking IRS?
IRS and USPS both have SWAT teams, FACT, WTF.
Those IRS peeps aren’t very good shots. They aren’t disarming anyone.
