USA TODAY and Statista name the Alaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC) the #3 in their list “America’s Top Vocational Schools.” This year’s recognition is the second consecutive year AVTEC has made it on the list.
Postsecondary institutions providing vocational training are ranked based on indicators such as graduation rate, graduate salary, years to pay off net price, diversity, and social mobility. AVTEC’s ranking reflects its commitment to providing cost-effective, hands-on training that prepares Alaskans with the technical skills and professional experience needed to meet workforce demands throughout the state.
“Being recognized as one of America’s Top Vocational Schools for the second consecutive year reflects the dedication of our instructors, staff, industry partners, and students,” said Dr. Cory Ortiz, AVTEC Director. “At AVTEC, our mission is to prepare Alaskans with the technical skills, professional habits, and hands-on experience employers need. This recognition reinforces that when education is closely aligned with workforce demand, students, employers, and Alaska all benefit.”
“AVTEC graduates are in high demand,” said Catherine Muñoz, Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development. “Alaskan employers recognize the strength and value of our programs. When our students walk across the stage to receive their certifications, most have already secured employment.”
AVTEC is an accredited postsecondary vocational training center operated by the State of Alaska as a Division of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Located in Seward, Alaska, AVTEC provides Alaskans from across the state with hands-on, career-ready training to meet the workforce needs of today and tomorrow.
