Where the American Rescue Plan will be spent in Alaska

19

According to the White House, the American Rescue Plan will provide Alaska with:

  • $1.45 billion in state fiscal relief
  • $250 million in local fiscal relief
  • More than $370 million in relief for K-12 schools
  • Economic impact payments of up to $1,400 per person (above the $600 per person provided in December) for more than 430,000 adults and 193,000 children. This is 84% of all adults in the state and 85% of all children in the state
  • Additional relief of up to $1,600 per child through the Child Tax Credit to the families of 167,000 children
  • Additional relief of up to nearly $1,000 through the Earned Income Tax Credit to 41,000 childless workers
  • Marketplace health insurance premiums $2,300 lower per month for a 60-year old couple earning $75,000 per year

  1. At what cost to the NATION?
    What strings are attached?
    What power to dictate to us did we have to give them?
    How much will this affect the inflation rates that will destroy our dollar value?
    How much of our taxes do the TAKE?
    When will they raise TAXES to pay for all this?
    DO WE HAVE TO TAKE IT?

  2. I’m not sure why schools need any more money. It didn’t cost them anymore because of covid. It actually made Bank on it. Canceled sports seasons and other activities reduce utility bills. People in The villages should make Bank on the covert relief with the child tax credit and the $1,400 for adult. Not a whole lot of people in The villages lost their jobs. School districts that I’m aware of kept classified staff on the payroll as well as teachers but that was all budgeted anyway so there is no unexpected expenses there. Basically it’s like a illness PFD for Alaskan villages.

  3. So do we really save our economy by printing out money from nothing and handing it out like bottles of water?
    We didn’t need a crisis in prior years to run a $1,000,000,000 U.S. deficit every year. So what’s another $4,000,000,000 anyway? And next we will see another $2,000,000,000 budget buster “infrastructure bill” no doubt loaded with more pork.

    All this at the expense of who? Middle class taxpayers? Upper income taxpayers? Corporations? Future generations? Will the bubble ever burst?

  4. Why on Earth would they be giving $370 million bucks to schools when they have largely been shut down for months? It is insanity!

    • I’m not sure what it can be used for but many schools out in the bush are in need of being rebuilt. They are very dated and it’s taking a lot of resources just to keep them up. I don’t know if they can spend the money on those or not but that would be one way I could see the schools needing it. They don’t need any extra money to pay the bills because that’s already been funded and let’s go districts have already established their fiscal budget it probably has something to do with the nea and other lobbyists and the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Everybody’s going to get a new computer, and some new buses and they’ll hire on some support staff that they don’t really need but they think the low test scores will justify hiring. Teachers will get a raise superintendents will get a raise even the school board members might get a raise from what they’re already getting paid. Even local advisory boards get paid just to come to the meetings now you can there’s a lot of pork that’s for sure.

  5. 1.45 billion for fiscal spending to the state is absurd.
    Our legislators have a way of throw ing money to the wind.
    Maybe they can buy fast ferries back for original price.
    It’s not BEYOND them.

    • Whilst all here complain about deficits and national debt, I’m absolutely certain everyone who has commented
      has or will plan to give back to Uncle Sam:

      That $1400 stimulus payment;
      Those monthly per child payments
      (up to $1600 a year total) that start July 1st, and;
      Those $2300/ lower health care premiums ( that make your health care — in other words — almost FREE)

  6. No the bubble will not burst. They can’t allow that to happen. They will keep printing money as long as they have to. What difference does it make it’s not like it’s ever going to be paid back. Those days are long gone. This is the master plan that will eventually lead to the New world order. Didn’t you read The playbook?

  7. Well, dear commenters, please then be sure to return your $1400 Economic Impact payments when they arrive. Put your money where your mouths are.

    And feel free to do the same with your PFDs when they drop as well, since the State can’t afford those anymore either.

    The folks commenting on this website are nothing but serial complainers. Everything is bad, bad, bad, except for God and guns. Even free money…

    Geez.
