Supreme Court temporarily halts deportation of some Venezuelans identified as gang members

The US Supreme Court on Saturday issued a temporary order halting the deportation of certain Venezuelan nationals identified by the Trump Administration as members of violent gangs, including the terrorist organization Tren de Aragua.

In an unsigned brief, the high court directed that “the government is directed not to remove any member of the putative class of detainees from the United States until further order of this court.” But the court did not say when it would revisit the issue.

The ruling puts a pause on a portion of the administration’s recent immigration enforcement actions carried out under the Enemy Aliens Act, which the administration has cited in its efforts to expedite the removal of individuals deemed threats to national security.

According to officials, more than 50 Venezuelan nationals were scheduled to be deported on the next flight. Five deportation flights have already been conducted as part of this process. The flights have been going to El Salvador, where President Nayib Bukele, is working with the Trump Administration to detain violent criminal illegal foreign nationals.

          I recall a no knock warrant served during the night without a warrant and an immediate execution even though his sidekick Joe Biden opposed it.
          Joe was more worried about upsetting Pakistani government which ultimately put a hold on the cash flow to Biden Inc.

    • “Due process” in its current exaggerated state of legal nonsense should be absolutely expedited – illegal aliens do not have the rights of citizens or legal immigrants. We do not need or want welfare for lawyers taking advantage of the boneheaded decision to let all these migrants into the U.S. without “due process”. While they are waiting for their cases to be heard, lock ’em up in Gitmo or El Salvador.

  2. The Supreme Court is overstepping it’s authority. The Founders believed the Judicial Branch should be the weakest (notice it’s under Article 3 of the Constitution) for good reason.

Now the Trump administration is telling the Supreme Court it wants the authority to remove the Venezuelans detained in Texas under laws other than the controversial Alien Enemies Act while the litigation over their potential deportations continues. The Trump admin is constantly shifting the narrative.

  4. Who is halting it? Trump knows that Andrew Jackson once said, “John Marshall has made his decision, now let him try to enforce it.” All we need to do is read Federalist #78: “The judiciary has neither FORCE nor WILL, merely judgment.” As in, “Thanks for your opinion, but mine is different.” Jackson was morally wrong, but constitutionally correct. Trump MIGHT be wrong on a case-by-case basis, but is constitutionally correct in whatever he decides. And let us remind ourselves that ALL illegal aliens chose to weasel their way inside our borders and have no right to remain here, whether they are terrorists or not.
