Researchers analyzed nine U.S. cities that implemented vaccine mandates during the pandemic and found that those mandates had no real effect on the spread of Covid-19.
Now, those cities’ leaders are not responding to questions about their mandates and the economic impact they had on residents.
Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington D.C. were part of the study conducted through George Mason University’s Mercatus Center.
Those cities announced some form of city-wide vaccine mandate in 2021, leading to economic hardship for local businesses and lost jobs for those who refused to comply.
“Our findings put into question the efficacy of city-level vaccine mandates,” the report said. “Indoor vaccine man-dates caused large disruptions for many individuals and businesses.
New York City, for example, fired 1,430 city workers for failing to comply with its vaccine mandate (Fitzsimmons, 2022). A survey found that over 90% of NYC restaurants reported having customer-related challenges, such as losing customers who objected to the mandate, and 75% having staff-related challenges (New York State Restaurant Association, 2021). Those are just a small fraction of the disruptions caused by the mandates.”
Despite the economic hardship they caused, the study found no noteworthy slow of Covid-19. Researchers said this was in part because residents could simply travel outside city limits to participate in any activities banned in the city.
“We find no evidence that the announcement or implementation of indoor vaccine mandates in the cities listed had any significant effect on vaccine uptake, Covid-19 cases, or Covid-19 deaths, and this is largely consistent for all US cities that implemented the mandate,” the report said.
The Center Square reached out to the mayor’s offices for all nine cities to present the findings and ask if their respective governments made a mistake but received no response.
“I think the more important thing is to find out what was in the minds of the people both at the federal level and at the state and local level who imposed these policies,” said Bob Moffit, an expert at the Heritage Foundation who served as a senior official of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Office of Personnel Management during the Reagan administration.
“Because based on the data, these kind of comprehensive vaccine mandate policies, there is no other way to describe except as a stupid, ham-handed policy,” he added. “The economic consequences were awful.”
Vitor Melo, one of the researchers behind the report, told The Center Square his team was surprised by the results. They expected to find some benefit to the mandates.
“We were all surprised, and I think we were all surprised as we kept going with this how consistent the results were for all the cities,” Melo said.
The researchers hope this report impacts decision-making for these kinds of policies going forward.
“Public health restrictions and regulations were widespread during the COVID-19 pandemic, and so understanding their consequences is essential,” the report said. “The authors find that city-level mandates had smaller effect on vaccine uptake (and consequently on COVID-19 cases and deaths) than nationwide mandates – and thus failed to achieve their intended objectives.”

Think about what people have been told to believe the last few years. No mask, wear a mask, double mask. Take out the middle seat in airplanes and we’ll be safe. Wear your mask to the restaurant, but you can take it off to eat. If you get the shot you won’t get COVID. NONE OF THIS IS TRUE!
We now know that the COVID vaccine does not prevent catching/spreading COVID. There is a 99% survivabilty rate among healthy individuals and those of us who caught COVID before the vaccine came out have as much immunity as the vaccinated. Doctors who questioned mandates were silenced on social media, accounts suspended, and accused of misinformation.
Democrats are the party of mandates, firing first responders, healthcare workers, and discharging military personnel. Dividing the country, vilifying the unvaccinated, and sending COVID patients to retirement homes. Extended school closures causing irreparable harm and shutting down businesses permanently.
According to Kaiser Family Foundation, COVID-19 was on track to be the third leading cause of death in 2022, for the third year in a row. About half of those deaths over the course of the year were among people who had at least their primary series of vaccines. By April 2022, the CDC data showed that about 6 in 10 adults dying of COVID-19 were vaccinated or boosted. Is this accurate data or are they still including people who died with COVID rather than OF COVID in those numbers?
Joe Biden made a speech saying this is a pandemic of the unvaccinated and he understands the anger against them. However, Biden has never had measles, mumps, rubella, small pox, or polio, but he did get COVID after four shots and passed it on to his vaccinated wife. Under his authoritarian leadership we’ve seen nothing less than the actions of a dictator determined to force the unvaccinated out of employment and society. Never forget what has been done to our country, or the world for that matter. No accountability, truth, or apologies from China. Do you think our current federal government would do anything differently if faced with this again? Probably not.

You may recall, Trumps OLS, his pushing approval of an experimental mRNA treatment that was an utter failure and apparently has damaging side effects as well.
When will we hold these clowns to accountability?
Probably never. Too much money was made by the “right people”. History will judge this poorly, but that does those of us who lived through it no good.
The next step will in dealing with this needs to be lawsuits by people who were forced to get the shot or be fired, or were fired for refusing. Congress gave the drug companies a bulletproof vest. Not the individual companies and municipalities.

Trump started Warp Speed to stop the globalists plan for over 10 year lockdowns. You should read the book by Klaus Schwab entitled COVID 19 . The vaccine may not be effective against Covid but it is effective against the Globalists plan. Imagine how many people would’ve died from Suicide , Drug Abuse , Child Abuse , Sexual Abuse , Depression if no vaccine had been developed quickly during a 10 year lockdown.

Every one was making homemade masks and bragging about the daughters mask making prowess. My personal favorite was the folded, stapled paper towel with rubber band ear bands and tied behind the head until the Chinese masks arrived by boat. Also the homeade cowl masks made out tee shirts were a nice touch for the guys. The bandanas tied behind the head that fell down around the neck were very appealing in a western, cowboy way while saving lives. Per se.
Virtually EVERYTHING, and every official reaction, to the Wuhan Virus, along with the ensuing officially-orchestrated Covidian hysteria, was nonfactual, unscientific, ineffective, unsafe, and/or a lie. It was simply a radical control agenda masquerading as public health policy.

Data early on showed that hospitalizations for Covid went UP after the introduction of the “vaccines”. That should have been a read flag regarding the efficacy of the shots. Historically infection rates and hospitalizations reduce after the introduction of a real vaccine. If that were not true, we would continue to see high levels of the general childhood disease, even with the widespread immunization programs in place. Yet mumps measles and rubella only make an unwelcome appearance, when they find an unvaccinated population. Covid continued unabated regardless of the level of vaccination in a particular population.
I recently heard an analysis that suggested Covid was an example in risk assessment and aversion. Most individuals assessed the risk and continue with their lives, while others panicked and demand total risk-free environments using the government to strife for that state and liberties be damned….you can guess who was who.
It didn’t take a study, it just took a little critical thinking to realize we had been had and it has greatly contributed to the complete dismantling of our society. Anyone that looks at 2019 and today is aware that we are being ruled, we are NOT in charge of our government. The bureaucrats have taken over completely.
So science got it wrong and lots of people tried telling them that and we were fired, censored and ridiculed. That’s why we need to not believe the world is ending because the climate changes. Agin the science does not want to hear any reasons why the world will continue without knee jerking because of weather. It’s all about scare tactics and money because without all the money to look at it they would have to go get a real job. Science is not a sure thing. if so all of Al Gores predictions would have come true and the earth would be hot as mars.

Don’t fault our political leaders. They were giving the public HOPE. That is their job. Now just accept the Chinese walking pneumonia into your life. It’s their gift to you. A handmade gift at that.
I can’t tell if you are serious with your second sentence. Our political leaders did not give out hope, they preached fear and division, and were very successful.
Also it was so it was so alarming to know that singing in choirs was taking lives at a likely higher rate.
A family member had bad side effects from the one – shot Johnson & Johnson. We are still stressed about that. I hope she has adequate medical care during this stressful winter.

It makes me wonder how the natural catastrophic disaster will be described alongside the blurbs in the history books a century from now explaining the ‘Spanish flu’, typhoid and cholera epidemics, ebola scare in the USA, H1N1 flu or swine flu that affected a wide swath of Americans, discovery of polio vaccine and us schoolchildren in the 1960s, and perhaps the story of the race to Nome and subsequent winners of the Iditarod.

And if you are trying to imply that the Wuhan Virus (as opposed to the Covidian campaign of officially-sponsored and organized terrorism against the population of the world) reflected an actual viral epidemic of proportions even remotely approaching the Spanish Flu or polio, well, don’t make me laugh.

I was constantly dumbfounded by the lack of common sense in the decisions that were made. Even people with a medical background threw everything they knew about viruses, how the work and how humans respond, out the window. This virus is novel, like it came from outer space or something. So much BS.
