Right to work? Inslee mandates vaccine for state workers in Washington state

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee this week announced a requirement for most state workers, and on-site contractors and volunteers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment.

State employees and workers in private health care and long-term care settings have until Oct. 18 to be fully vaccinated.

The requirement applies to state workers, regardless of teleworking status. That means those who work from home must still be vaccinated. It applies to executive cabinet agencies, but the governor encouraged all others such as higher education, local governments, the legislative branch, other statewide elected officials and organizations in the private sector to do the same.

“It is the mission of public servants and those providing health care to serve our fellow Washingtonians. These workers live in every community in our state, working together and with the public every day to deliver services,” Inslee said. “We have a duty to protect them from the virus, they have the right to be protected, and the communities they serve and live in deserve protection as well.”

The governor made the announcement at a press conference on Monday at Kaiser Permanente in Seattle. He was joined by Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, King County Executive Dow Constantine, Kaiser Permanente Washington President Susan Mullaney, Washington State Secretary of Health Dr. Umair Shah, and Seattle-King County Public Health Officer Dr. Jeffrey Duchin.

The announcement comes as Washington is experiencing a severe increase in COVID cases and hospitalizations in every county, due to the Delta variant, with the overwhelming majority of cases and hospitalizations being among unvaccinated Washingtonians.

Gov. Mike Dunleavy of Alaska has stated that there will be no vaccine mandates in the Alaska state workforce.

  1. It is amazing how politicians are so willing to be our appointed doctors making health decisions for us all.
    Even if a person loathes our governor Dunleavy, I would hope comfort could be taken that he doesn’t parade himself out as our statewide doctor advising us on health.
    It wasn’t so long ago we oft heard the screeching of, “It is a woman’s health and that choice should be between her and her doctor!” We don’t hear that so much now.
    Of course, the counterargument will be, “But with Covid, it could affect other people.” Indeed, abortion affects another heartbeat too, now doesn’t it? Not a puppy heartbeat, not a blob heartbeat. Only a human heartbeat…attached to a human, attached to its mother. And abortion affects it every time.

    • Mike better find a source for some cheap ventilators and oxygen delivering devices. Alaska is just a stone’s throw and a few flights from our beloved Alaska airlines from being right there in bed with Washington.

  3. I wonder how many State of Alaska employees in Anchorage supported the small business leaders and community last year when they were protesting the mask mandates and rigid rules for being open? Government workers, wearing their masks at work, working from home, and never missing a paycheck.
    Because of government workers and Native Healthcare workers didn’t help their fellow private business leaders,

  4. Just as last year, people will have to be more together, pushing back on the government. Or else more people will eventually be led to the slaughter.

    I feel like a fatalist. Today, I think people’s hearts are so hard, as past Russian and German people’s hearts were, to allow something as the Holocaust to have occurred, before they realize where their hardened hearts led them.
    Unless people’s hearts are melted and softened we are on our way repeating something as gruesome as a holocaust killing specific peoples for their faith leanings, for their political position, for their what a government calls an undesirable.

  6. I wonder if the vaxxed, when they are laying in their bed at night, think about the fact that they possibly made a big mistake taking the jab as more and more deaths and horrible side effects come to light.
    They can’t possibly believe the government and BigPharma really cares about them – can they?
    Since it is IMPOSSIBLE for anyone to say this gene therapy is safe in the long term – remember many drugs and vaccines have had to be taken off the market because long term side effects revealed themselves – wouldn’t it be the height of irony if all of the vax nazis suffered bad side effects in the coming months and years? What would they do? How often do they ponder that scenario?

  8. We are not anti-vaxxers, but we do believe in our right to choose and to be responsible for our own health and well being. We have well established our immune systems with a healthy lifestyle and are very rarely sick with anything even a headache. We believe in the freedoms established in the Constitution framed by the founders of this great country. Their goal was to protect the citizens of the US from an over reaching government power. Thank you Governor Dunleavy for upholding our freedom.

      • Other vaccines have been in use for many many years, or even decades, they went thru proper testing and vetting. This was rushed out and potential side effects and/or long term effects, are not known and will not be for years, or decades. Only the blind follow faithfully in what the government tells them is the best for them.

    There ya go.. It isn’t doing squat.. Fully vaccinated people are still dying from it.. But not even close to being a killer…. 99% of the population survives it.. Yet some areas are trying to be tyrannical and force people to accept a failed vaccine. Strongly advise those that got the jab take a gander at the ingredient list.. Lipids, hexyldecanoate, poly ethelyne glycol, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, momobasic potassium chloride, sucrose, sodium acetate… Nothing about a covid antibody… Only the Johnson and Johnson says it carries a CoV2 spike protien… Its garbage folks!

Currently we have no deaths and no one in the hospital (not including those with underlying conditions). The scare continues on, and on, and on…The Lambda variant is next and is rumored to be from Peru and vaccine resistant. Glad our southern border is wide open.

    Since it is very apparent we will have a LARGE control group of people that haven’t taken the EUA gene therapy jab – we will get to see what groups have fertility issues, spike protein issues, micro blood clotting, enlarged hearts, brain swelling , and a whole host of auto immune disorders – in the coming months and years.
    What will the Vaxxers say and do when they realize they were lied to, manipulated, coerced, and virtue signaled into getting gene therapy that gives them very serious health issues.
    What am I saying – the government, the MSM, and pop culture would never try to propagandize our society, would they?…

  19. That’s the sad thing, want a look at your future go south. I highly recommend touring Seattle. Start around the stadium area, go around Pioneer Square, head over to Pike Place Market, then end up on Capitol Hill. If you’re the adventurous type, go after dark. Disclaimer; I do not wish ill will or harm to folks so I highly recommend this tour during daylight hours (Seattle PD is understaffed by about 40%).
    Oh, leave all valuables, wallets, purses, etc. in you hotel room.
