Peltola and her chief of staff join major law practice as Alaska and federal experts

Holland & Hart LLP announced today what many in political circles had been talking about for the past week: Former Alaska Rep. Mary Peltola and her chief of staff Anton McParland joined the firm, which is primarily a law firm but also provides political and business consulting and has other non-attorneys on staff.

Peltola was named senior director of Alaska affairs, based in Anchorage. McParland will be senior director of federal affairs, based both in Washington, DC and in Anchorage.

Meanwhile, a progressive polling firm has been testing the waters in Alaska to see if Peltola is a viable candidate for representative or governor. The company doing the poll is likely Data for Progress. The national Democratic Party has targeted Alaska’s congressional seat with the aim of flipping it back to Democrat.

The steady job at Holland & Hart may indicate that Peltola is stepping away from being in office for the time being. The pay is likely better and the hours will be less grueling than serving in Congress.

“Mary and Anton are great additions to our growing bipartisan team,” said Andrew Wheeler, partner and head of the firm’s Federal Affairs team. “They each bring experience working behind the scenes to cultivate stakeholder relationships and build coalitions among parties with shared interests to achieve approvals and outcomes.”

Jon Katchen, administrative partner of the Anchorage office, said, “Mary brings a unique understanding of Alaska’s distinct economic drivers and cultural landscapes that will benefit our local and regional clients. Anton has a deep understanding of congressional dynamics and an ability to craft and negotiate workable solutions based on legislators’ political and policy priorities.”

  1. OH boy round 2 with the idiot peltola & people will vote for this numbskull too, that is what is the most frightening thing!

  2. Obviously this “law” office is not bipartisan. 90% of the blood sucking lawyers are corrupt democrats. Hiring a DEI person like Peltola who did nothing for our state, people or republic proves that to be a fact.

  3. Mary is incredibly LAZY. That, we already know. She’s better off working with a Native tribe. Maybe arranging potlatches or organizing dance troupes. But politics? No. Never again.

    • Several years ago, Mary went crying to the owner of a particular company because she needed a regular income. She claimed to be broke. The owner reluctantly gave her a job and she got a regular paycheck. But Mary did not show up to even act like she was doing some work. Eventually the owner of the company told her that if she wanted to continue to get paid, she would need to put in time at the office doing “something”. So she started to show up but not on a regular basis.

For Mary, everything is all about her and what she wants. Alaska is much better off without her.

      • Peltola is not a lawyer. What could she do to benefit a law office? No clerical skills. No research skills. Maybe show up for a couple days a month to flirt with a young male attorney? Beware, guys. The black widow is looking for husband number five.

    • Perhaps those traits will work to our advantage as a no net threat. Afterall, lazy enemies can’t cause much harm if they aren’t motivated and disciplined.

  4. If Peltola joining this law firm means she failed the poll about being a Rigged Choice Voting viable election candidate then I am okay with that. Also hope conservative Alaskans have a better choice than Dahlstrom.

  5. “Unique and deep understanding” of Alaska and Congress X2!
Holy Halibut, it’s time for a reality check. A circus joke at best.

  6. “…and the hours will be less grueling than serving in Congress”. Mary Peltola actually served in Congress? I did not know that.

  7. “Mary brings a unique understanding of Alaska’s distinct economic drivers and cultural landscapes that will benefit our local and regional clients.” Really? You can’t make this sh*t up!
She exhibits an observable lack of intelligence tempered only by her sheer ignorance that is so profound (and I am not trying to be mean here) that I genuinely feel sorry for her. It’s truly astounding, even for an alleged “politician”. Bless her heart.

  8. Wow. I wonder what will go on the invoice to document the “Unique and deep understanding” that the client receives.

  9. For a minute there I thought the headline was going to read , ” Mary Peltola joins Washington, DC law firm as a marriage counseling subject matter expert”!

  10. I glad that”no show Mary” has gone to work for them, this more people that see her incompetence, lack of work ethic and”truth impairment” the more marginalized she will be and become someone else’s problem, not ours

  11. Mary is nothing but a box checker and she was brought in to be Deb Haaland’s mini me. The Dems just want a puppet and haven’t given up on this one.

  12. Well, that a lot of cash for a losing non starter who had so few committee assignments….and the tag-a-long…I have no words.
