Kyle Hopkins, a reporter for the Anchorage Daily News, broke the news on X: The newsroom at the Anchorage Daily News has voted to unionize.
“@nlrbgov counted our ballots today via Zoom after receiving a few mail-in ballots. This makes the ADN the only unionized newsroom in Alaska. Thank you for your support!” Hopkins wrote. He did not reveal what the vote tally was.
Haha. Reports are going the way of the buggy whip. We know that ADN has less readers than MRAK! The reporters just signed their death warrant!
And the paper continues to fall….
So(?) what can we expect from this action moving forward:
– Name change to … “The Union Rag” (???)
– Truth, Integrity, High Standards, Journalistic Ethics (???)
– Back to a daily publication (???)
– When should we expect the “Dogs’ to go on strike (???)
– Are subscription rates going to be reduced.
How exactly does this benefit the readership (???)
Unionization of the Anchorage Daily News by its reporters will only hasten its ultimate demise. They see unions as added ‘protection’. They fail to see that ‘alternative media’ is on the rise. It’s expensive and often narrative driven. Readers are dropping their subscriptions and seeking more trusted news sources. Must Read Alaska and Alaska Watchman are two examples. So, good luck reporters. Better put your life preservers on report to your abandon ship station.
There goes the ADN…….down the crapper. The Binkley families are NOT union people. Never have been, never will be. From two days a week, to no days a week. You idiot union organizers just killed off Alaska’s largest paper. Congratulations.
And good riddance. Now go to a blog like Dermot Cole does up in Fairbanks. Of course, he runs his outfit on donations, and a big chunk of that goes to the whiskey fund. Liquid donations.
🤣
Dermot writes his most colorful essays after a few big pours. Nasty stuff, but funny to read.
Dust off those resume’s boys and girls. You’ve stuck a fork in your own neck.
Great news. Renaming it ADF.
1 page Anchorage Daily Flyer.
I am waiting for the daily one sided very small misinformation daily rag goes away.
Notice that the workers labeled as “reporters “
Because they have not a single “ journalist “ on staff.
If you have a iPhone you to can be a reporter. 🤪
That rag newspaper could unionize itself out of business and we’d all be better off for it.
You already are a union of stuck on stupid clowns take a minute to read your crap all flat out sold out shameless stuff. Must read is my news source the anchorage times is missed
ADN has reporters? I would never have known if not reading it here.
ADN was the first to published about all the criminal cases being dismissed. I find it sad that Anchorage has no daily newspaper. Guess I will be looking for obituary notices on yahoo news.
John Lund, Must Read Alaska was the first to publish that story, by many days. – sd
Wow, congrats Suzanne! Can you please share a link to your story breaking the news of hundreds of DV and DUI cases being dismissed by the city for speedy trial violations?

ahh, one of those.
Kyle, are you part of the Hopkins crime family up in Fairbanks? Scott Kendall can’t fess up to the truth, but presumably, your creds are a bit stronger(?) than Kendall’s.
Suzanne, I stand corrected. I found the release of suspected criminals to be back on the streets appalling. I did appreciate ADN making it a headline story. But credit to you in letting folks know earlier. Thanks
Voted for and solidified the demise of their employer. It’s been a long time coming. Pretty sure the Binkleys
will be dropping the ADN like a hot potato.
Now they can organize the river boat discovery ! The teamsters will be there tomorrow !
I would suggest they all find a new job. Alaskans in general hate the ADN and want it gone.. it’s a miserable excuse for a news paper.
They can all join together and unionize the folks standing in the unemployment line waiting for their free checks after they get their pink slips from Big Binkley.
This is GREAT news!!! We can start the process of ending this worthless rag’s operations in Alaska.
This “newspaper” and I am using that term loosely, NEEDS to be ended.
Time to put this rag down for the count. Hopefully this will be the final straw.
I have not been able to trust the reporting from these reporters for over 10 years.
This paper should have died under Alice, but the new owners thought their politics could be served from the pulpit of the ADN. Just look at their lobbying last legislative cycle to keep print public notices alive.
Even when they reduced print to 2 days a week.
ADN is a joke of a paper. Praise Jesus we have Susan and friends.
Even Jeff Landfield does more in depth, non-partisan reporting then the ADN.
Good riddance to tainted reporting.
Lately ADN has just been cutting and pasting press releases without actually asking relevant questions, because most have no real experience or education in what to ask, when they aren’t reprinting whatever AP outside puts out, or unquestioningly tagging on ProPublica’s biased narrative coattails. No loss to actual journalism.
Maybe the Binkleys should listen to Richie Torres, Senator. D-NY. He said Trump won because the majority of Americans were sick of “ivory-towered nonsense”. Sick of progressive idiocy. You know, like the dung that is published in the ADN. Unions are a secondary problem to the main problem of ADN’s… pushing an ideology that most people are sick of.
