Here is a question: Where did the bear in the Alaska State Troopers’ new recruitment effort come from?

Its image, along with a new slogan – Guardians of the 49th – and a few cars wrapped with distinctive new graphics, is part of a rebranding aimed at luring new recruits. The AST’s motto, “Loyalty, Integrity, Courage” remains, however. The new additions are the product of 18 months of work by troopers and Anchorage-based Yuit Communications – at a cost at least $15,000.
