UPDATED: VICTIM IDENTIFIED
A body was found inside a vehicle parked in the 500 block of Sitka Street on Thursday morning. Officers with the patrol division responded to a dispatch report and located a dead female inside a grey 2008 Mazda 6, which had been reported stolen from 2000 East 3rd Ave. on Nov. 4, 2019.
The body, which has sustained trauma, was transported to the Medical Examiner to determine cause of death. The identity of the woman was released Saturday evening: Lanycha Zimmer, who has family ties to the Palmer area.
This is the 33rd homicide in Anchorage in 2019, the 34th actual homicide death, and the sixth homicide in the past seven days. The record for homicides in Anchorage was set in 2017 with 37
What gets me is when Anchorage residents talk about “crime in the Valley” like it is even comparable to the horrible violence we see in the city year after year.
I want to know why they have started this sick counting of bodies like it’s New York or something… It is not needed. All they need to do is report the news… Not treat murder like its a reality show… Terrible.
The body counting is to emphasize the excessive violence, not to glorify it.

90% of Alaska’s capital crimes can be directly linked to drugs, alcohol, or drug debt. But we Alaskans seem to just love our drugs and booze.
Alaskan’s must establish a death penalty or the lawlessness will continue!!!
Seems about right. Anchorage has become a hole. I wont land there without being armed.
Such a strange coincidence. Every American city run by Democrats has no shortage of dead bodies.
