McCarthyism takes hold in the U.S. Capitol

The Children of the Corn running amok in the U.S. House did something this week that makes Joseph McCarthy look like PeeWee Herman.

McCarthy, in the Cold War era, pioneered Red Scare inquisitions when he brought up charges of communism against employees of the U.S. government and other institutions. He held hearings. People lost jobs. Later, he was vilified for his tactics and now, “McCarthyism” is a pejorative.

In the case of McCarthy’s inquiries, there actually was some proof that communist spies had infiltrated the federal government, although it is not conclusive. The Verona decrypts and records provide some bread crumbs that historians have followed for years, but some material has gone missing, and the speculation endures.

Bringing up QAnon charges against GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia wasn’t one of those, “Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party of the USA?”

That would be child’s play.

This was much more insidious, because few in America even know what QAnon is. QAnon theories are widespread and amorphous. QAnon is, in many respects, a fabrication of the news media surrogates of the Left.

But the danger is that what just happened to Rep. Greene can now happen to any of us in America, if Congress decides that something we said or believe or retweeted is a tenet of the new boogieman, “QAnon.” Many people using social media may have unwittingly retweeted or repeated some phrase or meme that links now, or in the future may link to QAnon.

A new form of political witch-hunting has taken hold in the nation’s capital. Some 230 members of the House were motivated to remove Greene from the Education and Budget Committees for her statements from the past, and that number included 11 Republicans.

As Greene stood to defend herself, she felt compelled to go back and explain her political journey from concerned citizen using social media, to candidate, and how she does not believe in QAnon theory any longer and hasn’t for a very long time.

“I was allowed to believe things that weren’t true and I would ask questions about them and talk about them, and that is absolutely what I regret,” Greene said.

She should not have had to say even that much. Many of us have held beliefs at one time or another that we later learned were false, in whole or in part.

Not one member of Congress can say what QAnon theory is, as it is shapeshifting based on wildfire rumors passed around the internet. There is no headquarters for QAnon. There’s no sign-up sheet or oath. Trying to determine what QAnon is is like pushing on a rope.

“I never once said during my entire campaign, QAnon. I never once said any of the things that I am being accused of today during my campaign. I never said any of these things since I have been elected for Congress,” Greene continued, wearing a face mask with the words “FREE SPEECH” printed on the front.

It mattered not. No one would come to her defense. She was left to her own defense for the tribunal that has set . The House stripped her of her committees and thus has made a martyr of her. This cannot end well for them.

Later, Greene wrote that she was grateful for the Democrat “morons” and 11 Republicans who sanctioned her, because since Republicans are in the minority anyway, thus she would have been wasting her time in committee. Now, she has a bigger public platform.

If only lawmakers had stopped to think about Newton’s Third Law: The force exerted by object 1 upon object 2 is equal in magnitude and opposite in direction to the force exerted by object 2 upon object 1. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Republicans and Democrats might want to reflect on just how bad this looks for both parties in DC, and how Greene may rise to become a force much more powerful, and one they cannot control if she becomes the symbol for the fight against the swamp of the statists.

  1. All Constitutional Rights must be restored Nationwide including the 1st Amendment Freedom of Speech!

  2. Conservatives and whites are the new target for discrimination. It’s sickening, but not surprising, from the Dems. The people who brought us the KKK, Jim Crow and opposed the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

    • It’s bigger than that. It’s anyone that speaks up. The left hates conservative minorities more than anyone.

  3. Since they are legislating “thought” and we are now punished for even thinking, they might as well seal the deal and microchip us all. My Grandparents and thousands, if not millions of others came to this great country to escape this kind of thing, and just be free. Free to work hard, raise a family, and essentially be left alone to prosper. Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness has been sucked away by these clowns.
    .
Anyone that voted for these destructive communists should rethink their position. In a matter of weeks, a President who clearly does not have the cognitive function to be our leader and is led by the poison pen of the super leftists has destroyed the economic future of thousands of Alaskans that will take generations to recover- if ever.

  4. “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.” Perhaps not yet, but the progressive are trying hard.

  5. Well Suzanne all I can say is WWG1WGA. Kidding of course but it is a nice theme for all those deplorables, Where we go one, We go all. Interestingly enough some analysts believe Q to be a establishment psyop, very possible. Congress completely unhinged and out of touch, left and right and Alaska’s congressional delegation.

  6. Greene gave an excellent unscripted speech on the floor – first she very humbly apologized to the left and right for her ridiculous social media postings from three years ago; she then strongly articulated views that should 110% resonate with any American espousing the values of human life, liberty and freedom. Second she identified the hypocrisy of the left – how the left has ignored anti-semitic comments by house members, called for violence against 50% of the county by house members and so forth. Third her constituents were aware of her social media posts from 2018 and were obviously ok moving beyond these posts and putting her in office. That the Republicans in Congress have not strongly stood up to support her is egregious. That the will of a voting district can be arbitrarily overturned is totalitarian. That we – the American voter – must watch this play out with zero ability to intervene is a democratic crisis.

  7. This multi headed dragon is nesting in DC, soon its offspring will spread their wings to rule over us. Many will make their abode hidden in the arms of evil.

  8. “QAnon is, in many respects, a fabrication of the news media surrogates of the Left.”

I wish this was the case, but the reality is these Q followers are wack jobs.

Look at their online presence & one can only wonder the agency or foreign actors behind this latest conspiracy driven populous movement in America?

    • People believe because they want to believe with bias of interpretation of evidence toward what they desire. The more desperate the times, the greater the belief and hope for more and more fantastical conspiracy theories. Politicians know and use this bias to inflame passions and to manipulate the populace toward the desired goal, no matter the consequences. I’ve heard of QAnon but shuffled into the same category as ‘Russian Collusion’, not worthy of wasting either time or brain cells in a deeper look. And here I am being kind, as opposed to the idea that this conspiracy theory is actually fomented by those within the government to dishearten and manipulate people. If so, they need to be rooted out and most severely punished.

    • You are correct here Steve IMO. Green’s “I was allowed to believe things that weren’t true…” speaks volumes (also IMO). Anyone “allowed to believe” that bit about lasers starting CA fires is clearly a “wack job.”

      • Anyone who believes in multiple (or infinite) genders, and that dirty, reused, non-surgical masks do anything meaningful to prevent disease transmission, is most definitely a “whack job” as well.

        • I see you like to build your own “strawman” that allows you to attack your own idea of a “whack job” Jefferson. Did you have a few others in your list-say anyone believing Don Trump lost his election? Heheh!
We know who the “whack jobs” are on here and tough noogies to you.

          • Jefferson, in case you hadn’t noticed I have pointed out your asinine ideas as a public service to anyone listening on here. Of course you don’t agree but you are biased. Heheh! Tough noogies there Jefferson.

  9. It’s just a show of force. The communists just sent the message that they can take out any Republican member(s) they want to.

  10. Steve, maybe you can tell me why there is STILL an online presence? Shouldn’t the Tech Giants have removed all platforms and left over bits and pieces of these wack jobs? Sounds like these characters are far worse than our former President. Just sayin’

  11. Guess who won’t be getting invited for tea and crumpets.
To not get invited to any of their silly reindeer games means you are doing something right.

  12. So the commies can now openly talk about pushing us further into socialism and One world order, but someone such as Greene can be denounced simply over free speech and thought. I wouldn’t have apologized for Jack.
Q….. I’m still trying to figure this one out. It is quite interesting though, like a rabbit hole.

    • Here is Larry Tye on McCarthy: “But then McCarthy put in his crosshairs an enemy too big to bully, the mighty US Army, the most stouthearted and sacrosanct institution in America, and which had just waged a lethal war on the Korean Peninsula against Communists.”
After than McCarthy just slipped into his alcoholism until his death. He was right about nothing IMO.

  13. Suzanne, if memory serves, after the fall of the Soviets much was revealed about Soviet activity within the U.S. Government during the ’30s to the early ’50s. Turns out Old Joe was pretty much spot on?

  14. Thomas Jefferson wrote that “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”

  15. She should have said I’m grateful for the democrats and 11 republican morons instead. And, she shouldn’t have to apologize for searching and researching and trying to find out truth. This is what we should all do. Go check it out, right?! Isn’t that what the media IS SUPPOSED TO DO? And what about those congressman, I’ll bet none of them went to see exactly who or what Qanon is and instead just believe what anyone told them. It was Pappadopolous (sp?) when he was being set up by a supposed friend who was recording their conversation said, ““Do you know how many Members of Congress I’ve met that know jack … about anything? Except what their advisors tell them? … They can barely put a sentence together. … I’m talking about Members of Congress dude” Sadly, he is right and we are stupid for putting them there…

  16. Latest news is that the yahoo who sat in Pence’s chair on Jan 6 has been arrested and is a devout fascist. “A trawl of Secor’s Twitter account showed he described fascism as “epic,” the documents said.”
I suspect his incarceration will also be “epic.” Heheh!
