Don Young feeling better, out of hospital

14

Don Young feels better and is not in the hospital, although he had been admitted over the weekend.

He quipped, “The only person unhappy about this is Alyse Galvin,” according to the source.

“There has been much speculation in the media on my current condition, and I want Alaskans to know that their Congressman is alive, feeling better, and on the road to recovery. As you know, last week, I tested positive for COVID-19. Over the weekend, I was admitted to Providence Hospital for treatment and monitoring,” Young said in a statement.

“The team at Providence did an outstanding job, and their commitment to patient care is to be commended. I have been discharged and continue recovering and working from home in Alaska. Very frankly, I had not felt this sick in a very long time, and I am grateful to everyone who has kept me in their thoughts and prayers.

“Unfortunately, a lot of what you may have heard about my condition was based on speculation in the media that did not respect my privacy.

“This is irresponsible, and I do not want any Alaskans to be scared of seeking testing or treatment out of privacy concerns.

“COVID-19 is a serious virus, and its recent surge in our state has made this a critical moment. I encourage all Alaskans to continue following CDC guidelines: practice social distancing; use a mask; avoid crowds whenever possible.

“The economy, in both Alaska and our entire nation, has been devastated by this virus. This is not just a public health emergency, but an economic crisis as well. Today, we received encouraging news that a second COVID-19 vaccine candidate has shown to be successful. This development represents tremendous potential, but we must continue looking out for one another. Fighting the spread of this virus is crucial if we are to recover.

“We cannot hunker down forever, but I sincerely believe that we will be successful in fighting COVID-19, so that we can restore our economic health in the present, and secure a bright future for all Alaskans; our children and grandchildren are depending on us. Stay safe, and may God Bless Alaska and our frontline workers.”

  1. Thanks to Suzanne for the straight scoop and some important information on Don’s condition and his recovery…I have just had two other friends ( in other states) testing positive at our age and were hospitalized Friday and both after receiving some form of treatment have been released this morning to go home as they continue to recover…

    • The straight scoop is “the CDC guidelines” don’t work against the virus. Building up the immune system and getting the medication you need is what’s important. Destroying our way of life over this blown out of proportion event is the plan of the New World Order. “Some form of treatment” is about as specific as you know what !

It’s time for the bullshit to end. Yes, we are certainly glad Don Young has recovered. It doesn’t really say how, does it …

  2. We were told to hunker down so we don’t overrun the icu’s and give time to make a vaccine. The treatment was worse than the cure. Some 90% of people that went on ventilators died. Now with the modified treatments, the survival rate is way up. So we did what they asked, at great cost. Now with the 2 vaccines and a huge improvement in treatment we must move on. Protect the vulnerable. Open the schools. End the lock-downs.
Thank You Don Young. Your words of encouragement for Alaskans was wonderful.

  3. Thank God for the recovery! It’s good to see that this virus is not the death sentence, even for the elderly. The fear-mongers will of course ignore that. It is real, but poverty is real as well. Let it run it’s course. Lest we become a third-world nation. We have survived worse epidemics without modern medicine. If people think that a piece of cloth is so great, then let them wear it to protect them from those who do not. No problem. Stay at home if you feel you are at risk. And don’t stop your distancing in the stores just because you are wearing your inadequate masks. By the way, they still make toilet paper, and it’s not the end of the world should you run out. We are Americans, not sheep. Turn off the T.V. It’s crapp. Put on a record, watch a movie. We live in a beautiful place, take a drive and leave the phone at home. Hearing the same redirect 24-7 is driving people mad. Reflect on what is really important to you. Family, faith, friends, food, heat, shelter. Love one another. We will survive.

  4. Congratulations on your recovery Don! You definitely are at the front lines of this fight because of your age. Very glad to hear of your improvement.

    Nice article S ?

  5. It is becoming obvious that healthcare providers are learning how to treat COVID. The days of pushing folks onto a ventilator ( and likely death ) are over. More & more elderly folks, who are the most vulnerable to a tragic outcome from COVID, are recovering due to better treatment. Now, if we can only admit that mask mandates & lockdowns are useless….

  6. This is a normal recovery that has been happening for almost a year now. 99.9% of people who contract it fully recover. Those that don’t are in very poor health to begin with or have underlying issues, a “straw breaking the camel’s back” scenario. Eat right, exercise, take Vitamin D supplements, get plenty of sleep. I’m 56 with asthma and followed this criterium. I was ill for a half day and immediately went back to work landscaping my yard. Be wise.

    • Surely you don’t believe the words you just wrote? Back in the spring, more people were dying from busted lungs because they were forced to crank up the ventilator so high trying to keep them oxygenated. It was only through the advancement of therapy that you can make such a bold statement now. Perhaps you suffered some sort of memory loss when you were sick.
