Despite Biden’s call for unity, his website still says ‘We need to stop Trump before it’s too late’

President Joe Biden read lines on a teleprompter on Sunday, imploring Americans to cool the political rhetoric. But on his own campaign website, he is still calling for people to “stop Trump before it’s too late.” And he is raising campaign money by using that slogan.

His surrogates are using the same inflammatory language.

Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez called Trump a “fascist” on Monday. Her comment came in response to Jake Tapper pointing out that staffers in the White House are resigned to the fact that there will be another Trump presidency.

“If you’re a ‘senior Democrat’ that feels this way, you should absolutely retire and make space for true leadership that refuses to resign themselves to fascism. This kind of leadership is functionally useless to the American people. Retire,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote.

Matt Walsh, author and podcaster, said the unity being called for by Biden and Donald Trump isn’t realistic.

“There are calls for unity, but unity is not possible. The forces that at a minimum set the stage for Trump’s assassination — the same ones that have been trying to destroy him, and you, for years — are still at work. The only unity is in their defeat. The only way out is through,” he said.

      • To all those thinking that January 6th was such a big deal, talk to people in all the States with the BLM riots. Like comparing apples to oranges. Now those are riots!! I haven’t seen any police escorts helping those rioters burning down public buildings, cars, and causing mass destruction. But did see Capitol police helping “rioters of Jan 6th” walk through the Capital. The truth of the January 6th fallacy has been posted many times with actual pictures, so about time to put it to bed.

      • You say violence occurred after Trump spoke.
        Coincidence proves nothing.
        .
Please, Greg. Point to the words that Trump spoke that led directly to the events at the Capital? Do not use the ones in the headline, use the actual text from his speech.

  1. It’s with a heavy heart I say that we must ban AR-15s to stop Republicans from trying to kill Donald Trump.

  2. Biden gave pretty good remarks from the WH about the attempted assassination. Believe it or not, I agree with him. The political rhetoric, and cross aisle animosity needs to get turned down.
    .
I just want to see him show us all how.

  3. Ah, “…before it’s too late.” Joe, Joe, it’s late, very late; retirement is coming much too late for you. But you can get as much rest as you want and need in retirement. And to AOC, please, consider taking a lengthy leave of absence.

Sheesh, I can hardly wait for Election Day to arrive.

  4. Lots of sissies on here complaining about “political rhetoric and animosity needing to get turned down.” What precisely does that even mean? In reality, its perfectly fine for communist-Dems to blurt their desires to “stop Trump before its too late” ….as long as they don’t suggest doing any harm to anyone. Trump does the same to them…. as he should. If we recalibrate, who would be the language czar to regulate our speech? Who will develop the list of words and phrases that would be forbidden. The devil is in the details and bureaucrats would love to regulate you more if you’re stupid enough to insist upon it. This is herd mentality expressed to a high level. The only reason for that assassination attempt was because we have lowered our expectations of younger generations. We are also too permissive regarding mind-altering street drugs.

    • I know. I just checked his campaign website, and found…
“What we’re up against now is one of the most extreme MAGA tickets possible. Donate to reelect Joe Biden AND Kamala Harris!”

“Donald Trump is a dangerous threat to our democracy. He tried to overturn the 2020 presidential election after he lost, encouraging an angry mob to attack the Capitol on January 6, where they violently assaulted police officers and attempted to prevent the peaceful transfer of power. He calls those who attacked the Capitol “patriots” and “hostages.” If elected to a second term, he has promised to pardon the January 6 insurrectionists. Now he is running to regain power, punish his enemies, and silence his opponents. After being criminally convicted by a jury of his peers, he is attacking the American judicial system, claiming there will be a “bloodbath” if he loses and promising to be a dictator on “day one”—even calling for the “termination” of the Constitution.”

“Donald Trump is running to rig the economy for himself and his ultra-wealthy friends, while the middle class suffers. During his four years in office, the United States lost nearly 3 million jobs—the worst job record of any president in modern American history—and he rigged the economy for the wealthy and big corporations at the expense of Main Street businesses. The billionaires funding Trump’s campaign know that if he is elected to a second term, he will give them more tax breaks while he cuts Social Security and Medicare and seeks to “terminate” the Affordable Care Act. ”

“Donald Trump will increase health care costs and take away health care protections for nearly every American. He was one vote away from repealing the Affordable Care Act in his first term and said he will “terminate” the law if reelected. If Trump gets his way, more than 100 million Americans with pre-existing conditions could be denied coverage or charged thousands of dollars more for health insurance coverage, and a middle-class family could pay over $13,000 more on their annual premium. And, he will gut Medicare and repeal limits on drug costs to enrich his friends in Big Pharma.”

“Donald Trump “proudly” overturned Roe and brags about unleashing extreme abortion bans across the country that are putting women’s lives at risk and threatening doctors with jail time. He has called these state abortion bans “a beautiful thing to watch” and said that women who have an abortion should be punished. If elected, Trump will ban abortion nationwide, and he refuses to support nationwide protection for IVF. His close allies’ Project 2025 proposal includes plans to attack reproductive health care in all 50 states without the help of Congress—including banning abortion, restricting access to birth control, and prosecuting and jailing women and doctors for sending or receiving abortion medication in the mail.”

“We need to stop Trump before it is too late.”

      .
Oh… yes. Obviously he toned it down.

  5. Seems worth asking… does Biden’s call for unity mean his entire campaign to date is a lie?

  6. Sure hate mongering is bad. However, it falls under protected speech which makes our republic the best in the history of the world. It’s why everyone in the world wants to migrate here. Be very careful about asking to have our free speech restricted in any manner beyond actual threats or incitation of violence.

  7. “Trump must be stopped” has a different meaning than Trump must be beat. You beat someone with voting. Stopping them insinuates “by any means possible”.

  8. Biden’s words have never stood the test of integrity. To give them credibility is not a demonstration of optimism, but an insane act of gullibility. He lies because he is a pathological liar; America should know that by now.
