  1. Awwwww toO damn bad! If you hadn’t been so eager to accept Grants with strings attached you wouldn’t be in this mess. None of us would, perhaps next time read the UN fine print and that goes for legislators as well. But you brought migrants up here, not refugees, and foisted them off onto the Alaskan cities and the budget is reflecting your duplicity. Next time dont be an UN shill! TRY to act like Americans and put Alaskans first!

  2. The AHFC- Homeless Assistance and Beneficiary from 2011- 2019 can be seen at https://www.omb.alaska.gov/ombfiles/20_budget/Rev/Amend/2020proj45390.pdf

Looks like out of 20 competitors, Catholic Social Services gets the most at $875K…
    .
Somebody’s got to ask: (a) why so many non profits in the homeless industry, and (b) what savings might result and actually be applied toward housing the homeless if several, or even all, these organizations were combined under one executive staff?
    .
Catholic Social Services demand, and apparently get, taxpayers’ money, but let one parochial school try the same tactic, watch out for loud “separation of church and state” avalanches.
    .
Why? Because homelessness is Big Business for non-profit organizations, which as a group are the second largest source of non-government employment behind oil and gas in Alaska.

Catholic Social Services demand, and apparently get, taxpayers’ money, but only a hardened cynic would ask why money should be a problem when one considers the Vatican’s total wealth.

    • SHARE WITH EVERYONE YOU KNOW! Ok, now folks we have seen the numbers and we have to decide how bad we want to change them. Due to the ethical collapse of Gary Knopp, and the resultant binding “on the budget” caucus, we will need a tsunamis of ? to come down on the AK House Of Representatives for anything to happen to change these numbers.

Start tonight or tomorrow morning with:
Texts, emails, phone calls, posts to FB and blogs as to the following:

Make the necessary cuts consistent with the governor’s plan, provide the PDF that was stolen and pass the three constitution amendment legislation.

If this is not done, we continue with unsustainable boom and bust.

  3. 1st Amendment
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The catholic church should not be involved in telling the state of Alaska how to spend its money. Progressives have a problem when Prevo preaches from the pulpit for his cause but not when catholics do it for theirs, all while crying for more and more government money?

  4. There are many who have voiced their desire to give more to charity. It should be no problem meeting Father Francis’ s needs if those who have the resources to do so, do so. The school budget should be audited and the total budget distributed more uniformly based on population.

There are many Alaskans who were injured or had damage to their homes during the earthquake disaster. FEMA has not paid all of the costs for most. Where is the empathy for those who need help to restore their lives??? The stolen PFD monies would go a long ways toward restoration of lives and property.

We The People voted to Repeal SB91, Restore the original formula for the PFD and restore the stolen monies. Listen to those who are still here to foot the bill. Soon there won’t be many private sector workers living permanently in Alaska. We can’t afford to.
