Multiple people were apparently injured early Sunday morning after gunfire erupted near the Gaslight Lounge in downtown Anchorage.
3:30 pm update: When officers arrived, they found three victims, one of whom had non-life-threatening injuries, one with life-threatening injuries; and one deceased adult male victim. Medics arrived and transported the victims to the hospital. A fourth victim was later located with non-life-threatening injuries. The Crime Scene Team has responded to process the scene. Suspect still not detained.
According to the Anchorage Police Department, officers responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 2:50 am in the area of 4th Avenue and G Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered several victims at the scene. The extent of their injuries has not yet been released.
As of Sunday morning, no suspects have reported to have been detained. Police say they are actively following up on leads but have not released any suspect description or details about what may have led to the violence.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the shooting — including surveillance footage from nearby businesses or residences — to contact Anchorage Police Dispatch at 3-1-1 (option #1) or (907) 786-8900 (option #0).
The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation, as do any potential connections between those involved. Police said further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
This story will be updated as new information is available.
Police have still not released information about the Friday shooting incident near an active baseball game at Mulcahy Stadium in midtown. The name of the suspect is still unknown, but he was reported to have been bitten by police K9 Kevin and was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Just another fun evening in the wonderful city of Anchorage.
That’s what happens when political leaders go lax on crime breakers.
Compassion is the road taken when traveling to Hell. Compassion is the currency the moral superior’s trade for peace. Compassion becomes Hell. Peace for those who profit from Hell. Thank your public sector unions for Hell on Earth. And yet peaceful in their sky mansions in the hills.
Tru dat
This shooting essentially took place across the street from Anchorage Police Headquarters. Not much of a deterrent was it? But if the vagrants can camp, poop in public and commit thievery uncontested why not a little shooting now and then? Does this not prove the antithesis of the broken window concept? Perhaps the shooter took the free bus back to Fairview?
A “free bus” at 2:50 in the morning? Get real.
The “free bus” comment was tongue in cheek about Mayor LaFrance’s recently started free bus service from Fairview to a midtown grocery store. LaFrance claimed the bus service is necessary because the Fairview Carr’s closed. What she does not acknowledge is that the Fairview Carr’s closed because of thievery and vagrants driving away legitimate customers. LaFrance and her assembly allow the unlawful activities that caused Carr’s to close.
The broken window concept is you prosecute virtuall all offenses to ibclude the “harmless” ones.
Please describe harmless offenses? If offenses are harmless as you suggest, then why are there laws prohibiting those harmless offenses?
We do know the arrested Mulcahy shooter had a warrant out for his arrest in Kotz.
My guess? That person has a bad drinking problem.
I read years ago that NYC (twice i think) built their police training academy in a high crime neighborhood.
Then that neighborhood improved as it became a low crime neighborhood.
We built a new Police headquarters directly across from the Gaslight, but it hasn’t had any impact on the violence at that bar.
In fact it seems worse; now instead of the shootings being behind the bar in the parking lot, the last 2 have been right on 4th in front of police headquarters (the last had bullets breaking the front windows of our police headquarters as they flew across the street from the bar)
It’s an HQ, the cops dont actually work there. Anchorage needs more stations with a traditional chain of command structure like other cities have. Also needs dedicated crime units instead of detectives switching specialities because of manning.
Agree.
I know it’s empty at night & its a dumb location imo.
All the cops still come and go from the Very large APD building on Tudor just like they always have (they have their own gas pump)
If squad cars were coming & going from 4th Ave that might make a difference, but who to say really (Drunks!)
We did have a sub-station in Mt View in the 80’s and one next to the Carrs store in Fairveiw.
Not sure why they abandoned them.
Late-night downtown Anchorage: where good things always happen.
Los Anchoragua, as LaFrance would have it.
Anchorzuela?
I’ve already named ‘Spenardistan’.
Sorry to have to mention this, but the shooting occurred only a few feet away from POLICE HEADQUARTERS. Maybe the police need to think about maintaining a police presence in the area.
The “kinder gentler”police attitude and lax enforcement of laws along with democrats running the show…..incompetence has a price.
They know how to show up after the fact with automatic weapons and combat gear and intimidate the crowd though.
Nothing good happens after midnight out on the town.
“Nothing good happens after midnight”
True statement.
Bill Parcels was (and continues to be) right. The quote was later changed to 2 AM. Cheers –
Anchorage remains dangerous to the average citizen
What is going on in Alaska? The state should be doing well if it allowed oil and gas investors to bring prosperity to Alaska’s residents. Perhaps the leadership will encourage more oil and gas production instead of using a stick and high bonds to pressure oil and gas workers and investors right out of Alaska. Could you pray for improvement and open Alaska up for more Alaskan investors? Drill Baby Drill.
Amen Brother!
Allow? We have had oil and gas leases sitting for almost ten years, no one wants them. They are not worth developing unless oil prices go through the roof and then they can’t afford to develop them!
Nothing good ever happens after midnight in Los Anchorage.
Los Anchorage, or LOST Anchorage…..
More proof that the Anchorage Assembly has turned the city into a toilet.
Yep, time to leave….
Send in the social workers!
Where was the LGBT Assembly when this happened? Why didn’t you protect those people?!
They call it “The Anchorage Bowl” for good reason.
PS: It’s clogged and overflowing with sewage.
Los Anchorage is indeed an appropriate name
Agree, which is why we left the area. New mayor is the pits.
Always be carrying. Don’t be going places you don’t belong.
Heaven help us!
Look at where our assembly members come from. All left coast with left coast idea’s and left coast morals. They hold secret meetings excluding locals. You get what you vote for (or if you don’t vote)
Keeping it classy, Anchorage…
We sold and moved to the valley last year.
Best decision we ever made.
Anchorage has so many issues that are just not working out. And the taxes and assessments to pay for inaction are not worth it.
How about saying “multi casualty”… A little less dramatic and a whole lot more accurate than saying “mass casualty”.
Great question, Joe Lunchbucket. Mass casualty is a term applying to when more than three are injured and is used when, during the heat of the moment, all victims are not thought to be located. In this case, the fourth victim was located later than the first three. It still fits the legally accepted definition. Thanks for your question. – sd

Don’t go stupid places, at stupid times, with stupid people, to do stupid things. – Tom Givens
Going out to drink, then staying out until bar break, then continuing to hang out outside the bar, with a bunch of drunk strangers – breaks all those rules simultaneously.
Go out, have a good time, stay sober, avoid ego fights, and leave before closing and you’ll avoid most of the late night problems if you choose to still go out bar hopping.
From a video posted on Alaska’s News Source, it appears the bar’s security guard saw the trouble starting, took a rifle from his car, and shot the shooter.
We just visited Tombstone AZ and watched the shootout at the OK Corral.
Now this is Anchorage’s version but no one will be paying to watch it.
