According to the Blood Bank of Alaska, only 2% of Alaskans donate blood annually, while a staggering 1 in 3 Alaskans will need a blood donation in their lifetime. As part of its commitment to the communities it serves, Nuvision Credit Union is teaming up with the Blood Bank of Alaska for the 4th Annual Asher Banks Memorial Blood Drive to help provide lifesaving blood to patients in need across Alaska.
The blood drive will take place on Friday October 9th, 2026, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm at the Nuvision Alaska Financial Center in Anchorage, located at 440 East 36th Avenue in Anchorage. The Blood Bank of Alaska bloodmobile will be stationed in the main parking lot.
The blood drive was established in 2020 to support the Anchorage community, and was dedicated in 2023 to honor the memory of Asher Banks, a little 3-year-old boy who battled leukemia with extraordinary courage. His journey has inspired countless individuals and highlighted the importance of blood donations to local communities.
Today, the annual blood drive continues to honor Asher’s legacy, while raising awareness of the critical need for blood donations throughout Alaska. Last year, blood donated from the drive provided enough blood to help as many as 150 Alaskans in need.
Asher’s grandmother, Amy Tullos, Nuvision’s Vice President of Branches, has dedicated herself to turning her family’s loss into meaningful action and encouraging others to donate.

Asher never stopped fighting, and through this blood drive, his legacy continues to bring hope to others facing the same journey. Those outside Anchorage are encouraged to participate in the Memorial Blood Drive by donating at a participating Blood Bank of Alaska regional center October 2-9. Donors should call their nearest regional center to schedule an appointment, mention the Asher Banks Memorial Blood Drive, and bring a Nuvision Donor Slip to their appointment.

How to donate in Anchorage:
- Register through the Nuvision website
- Sign up for a specific time slot through the Blood Bank of Alaska. This option is for the Anchorage blood drive on 10/9/2026 only. Individuals will need to create a Blood Bank of Alaska account to choose their time slot.
- Call the Anchorage Blood Bank Regional Center at 907-222-5630, and mention donating to the Asher Banks Blood Drive
- Individuals can also walk-in during the Nuvision on-site blood drive, and make an appointment, but there may be a wait time.
