Allen West issues warning to Texas GOP voters that could have been written for Alaskans

In a fiery open letter issued Monday morning, Dallas, Texas GOP Chairman Allen West warned that internal divisions and voter apathy are paving the way for Democrats to flip the Lone Star State.

Titled, “Texas is being flipped,” West’s message is less a concession of defeat and more a call to arms, warning conservatives that failure to act decisively now could bring about the political transformation of Texas — one he likens to what happened in once-reliable red states like Colorado.

He could have written the missive for Alaska.

West began by recounting Republican successes in the 2024 election, where Donald Trump expanded his margin of victory in Texas to 15 points and Senator Ted Cruz won reelection by nearly 10 percent. Republican dominance in the Texas legislature was clear, with an 88-62 majority in the State House.

“It was not too long ago, in November 2024, that we celebrated a resounding political victory here in Texas. Donald Trump increased his margin of victory from 2020 from 6 percent to 15 percent. We also saw 12 of 14 border counties in Texas go for Trump. In the so-called “hotly contested” Texas Senate race, Ted Cruz cruised to victory by nearly 10 percent. Texas had a solid red majority in the State Senate and State House. All seemed well. It was such a drastic defeat for Democrats in Texas that their State Party Chairman resigned,” he wrote.

But that’s where West says the story took a turn.

“Then something happened,” he wrote, pointing to a coalition of 36 Republican House members who broke ranks to elect a Speaker with Democratic support — a move West condemns as a betrayal of party unity and grassroots voters.

“With a clear 88-62 majority in the Texas State House, 36 Republicans broke camp and joined with 49 Democrats to select the Texas Speaker of the House. Somehow, there are so-called Republicans who prance around boasting how many Texas generations they are and wearing cowboy hats saying those elected Republicans who broke their own caucus rules should not be held accountable. Well, if there was any evidence of a Pavlovian experiment, that is a prime example. We all know that if you reward bad behavior — or worse, excuse it — you will get more bad behavior. So now we have a Texas State House, with a majority of 88 Republicans passing unconscionable legislation, such as HB 366, criminalizing political memes. Here we are just days before the calendar deadline that will kill most bills, and our Republican Party of Texas legislative priorities are at risk of dying,” he wrote.

This is exactly what happened in the Alaska Legislature — a handful of Republicans now empower the Democrats and put them in charge. They call it a bipartisan coalition, but it’s run by Democrats in a state that voted 54% for Donald Trump.

West also pointed to the recent municipal election results in North Texas, where Democrats saw gains in cities like Plano, Mansfield, and Dallas. He described Republican turnout as “abysmal,” blaming a mixture of apathy and misaligned priorities among GOP officials. In a particularly pointed passage, he called out wealthy Republicans who donated to Democratic city council incumbents while continuing to host out-of-state GOP figures — behavior he likened to “burning down your own house while helping others to build theirs.”

His letter touches on a range of cultural and political grievances, including immigration enforcement, the presence of Islamic communities, and alleged efforts to implement Sharia law, themes often invoked in West’s brand of combative conservatism. He painted a picture of creeping leftist influence that is, in his view, aided and abetted by establishment Republicans unwilling to fight back.

“Texas should not have leftist election administrators who undermine the integrity of our electoral system,” West declared. “Texas should not have Democrat elected officials who feel so emboldened that they are accused of physically and verbally assaulting Republican election officials.”

Looking ahead to the 2026 midterms, West warned that the Democratic Party is banking on continued Republican infighting and disengagement. He urged constitutional conservatives to reject “distortions of reality” and take back control of the political narrative.

Drawing on the teachings of Sun Tzu, West concluded with a martial appeal: “The skilled combat leader recognizes the battlefield before the battle is even fought … The question is, how many of you have that prescient vision and are willing to make a stand and fight here in Texas?”

  1. “Republican Party of Texas legislative priorities are at risk of dying“

What are the Alaska Republican Party legislative priorities?

  2. Alaska Legislature in a nutshell:

    Republicans – let’s compromise
Democrats – yes, let’s do things our way.

    • More like:

      Start of Session Round 1:
Democrats – let’s do things our way.
Republicans – let’s do things our way

      Round 2
Democrats – let’s do things our way.
      Republicans – let’s compromise

      Round 3
Democrats – let’s do things our way.
Republicans – let’s do things your way but we won’t like it and tell our constituents there was nothing we could do about it

  3. Alaska is the last west coast state standing and the Dems are going after it hard. This next governor race will determine if Alaska goes the way of WA and OR. Texas is slowly being chipped away at and hopefully the voters will keep it a red state.

  4. Left the local Republican party apparatus several years past. I changed my party registration to “No Party Affiliation” I really can’t clarify the reason.
Perhaps due to preconceived local party apparatus outcomes, Need of more Indians when the organization is over loaded with Chiefs, inability to contribute funds to the extent desired, or maybe thinking that my time better spent on other needs, or the lateness of meetings. Too, age could be a contribute, the end result is what it is.
    cheers, Johnson-Ketchikan

  5. The terrible voter turnout in Anchorage created a deep blue mess in Anchorage. The other thing is the lack of leadership and loyalty in the Alaskan GOP is destroying our state. Alaskan’s can trust the Republicans to act like Republicans. Maybe time for a new party.

    • “…….Maybe time for a new party………”
It isn’t the party platform. It’s the people running the party. The party has the power to control its candidates. It simply doesn’t use it for fear of losing elections. Partial control apparently beats losing altogether. So a “new party” won’t help. It would simply split anti-Democrat votes.
Humanity is a mess. There is no way to fix it. You navigate your best path through the mess and try to keep your shoes clean.

    • Why, Andrew, should we trust what we’re told about voter turnout by the same unelected folks who work for the Assembly and count the votes for their Assembly member bosses running for re-election?
      .
How do we know enough ballots weren’t “rejected” or “misplaced” to make voter turnout look bad?
      .
Vote-tabulation gear running on proprietary software, someone sticking a thumb drive in it while it’s running, self-appointed amateur handwriting “experts” rejecting voters’ signatures based on who-knows-what, mail-in ballots “lost” before they get to where they’re supposed to be …these things couldn’t possibly affect voter turnout numbers or election results, no?
      .
Bottom line: Way the system’s set up and operated, how can voters verify the accuracy of what they’re told about voter turnout?

  6. The people of Alaska have been being dumbed down before Walker and still getting dumber. They don’t care or do not pay attention. We are to diverse with all the people sent here (which was done on purpose). Basically chasing the good ones out. Don’t know the answer. Hope someone does and do it fast as we are dying.

  7. Alaska Republicans need to honestly examine why, with a 2-1 advantage over democrats, they continually get outmaneuvered. The party as a whole performed worse that President Trump and all the baggage he brings. This should cause some deep introspection. It seems to me that many Republican candidates and their PR people want to emphasize purity tests on social issues that will have zero chances of changing while ignoring governance that could make a difference in the state like budgets, development and defining the role of government itself. These purity tests and hollering will get the rabid base excited but will turn off undeclared voters or even those who disagree slightly with the party. The Dems seem to have this figured out. They don’t waste money on primaries and they concentrate their efforts on races they can win rather than pretend they are going to contest them all. There are lessons to be learned but Republicans instead will be too busy demonizing anyone who happens to display independent thought. If the results are not there you can either do more of what you have been doing or change what you are doing. Doubtful Republicans learn.

  8. Alaska Republicans are like Cathy Giessel – no spine when it comes to standing up to the (D)ems. In fact, on most days she agrees wholeheartedly with them and even advances their legislation. Oh, and she, too, has no balls.

  9. Twelfth paragraph says it all: “Texas should not have leftist election administrators who undermine the integrity of our electoral system,”
    .
Figure out how to fix that problem in Alaska, we have a chance.
    .
Fail to fix that problem …well that’s not an option, is it?

  10. Our “elections” are completely corrupt and getting worse. No serious person thinks the machines and mail are the way for legitimate elections.

      • They knew that if they cheated to beat Trump it was going to be obvious and they were likely to get caught, he had too much support to believably rig it, so they concentrated on the local races, and that’s why now they are looking to take the whole PFD. We MUST have honest elections, and that means minimal mail in and early voting. ALL mail in ballots must be requested and the person requesting needs to PROVE they are a resident, CITIZEN, and the one voting the ballot when it is returned. ALL EARLY AND MAIL IN BALLOTS SHOULD BE COUNTED BEFORE THE ELECTION DAY RESULTS ARE KNOWN. No ballot received after election day should be counted. We need more and smaller precincts so there are NO hour long lines to vote! WE MUST make our elections honest and believable! The constitution says “election day”, not election month or weeks, EVERYONE should have to show a PHOTO ID and prove they are a CITIZEN!

  11. It’s happened before in Alaska. Think back to the mid- 80’s when the Alaska House was run by a coalition of hardened Democrats and young Republican legislators. Al Adams, Democrat from Kotzebue, enticed a group of upstart Republicans to join him, with promises and expectations of power sharing in Committees. The young Republicans, mostly RINOs and otherwise foolish political youngsters, fell into the trappings of some pretty slick Democrats. The bait: perception of power and influence. Those years made the young Republicans look inexperienced and somewhat stupid.

    • Oliver, I like your observation above. It appears that something very similar is happening at present. One must merely look at two young fellows recently elected from the Mat-Su, Jesse Sumner and Rob Yundt. How is it that the G.O.P. could allow both of these promising freshmen to go so far astray? Where is the leadership in the Party and the mentoring and education for these newbie representatives?
How is it that we can produce an NBIII and yet fail so miserably closer to home?
