What committees are Murkowski and Sullivan assigned to in next U.S. Senate session?

28

Incoming Senate Majority Leader John Thune announced the Senate Republican Committee assignments, including committee chairs for the incoming Congress. These assignments are expected to be ratified by the full Senate early in January.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska will chair the Indian Affairs Committee, which she has served on as vice chairwoman. With her seniority in the Senate stretching back to 2003, she retains her membership on the powerful Appropriations Committee. She will also continue to serve on the Energy Committee as well as the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. She comes off of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, however.

Sen. Dan Sullivan of Alaska will continue to serve on the Armed Service Committee, Commerce, Veterans Affairs, and Environment and Public Works committees, all committee positions he now has.

  1. Lisa should be chair of the Trump Derangement Syndrome Committee and Soon-to-be-Cheneyed Committee. She should also be on the Unemployed Ex-Senators Committee.

  2. Hopefully, these appointments for these two pay dividends for Alaskans and Alaska. I definitely recommend a tight alliance with the Trump Administration (and agenda) will be a better play.
    Don’t screw-it up Lisa!!!

  3. Leaving aside the usual invectives and cheap shots, the two Alaska Senators are nicely situated to have substantial influence on legislation that has obvious impact on Alaska.

    • I agree Senator Sullivan and Senator Murkowski have substantial influence on legislation.

Senator Murkowski is and has been very situated to have a huge impact regarding Alaska Natives and the issues that many face such as human sex trafficking, domestic violence, drug trafficking, violations of our Indian Civil Rights constitutional protections such as the right to due process, fraud – using federal tax dollars as “hush money”, and other major criminal sexual harassment crimes Alaska Natives face within Tribal governments and/or Tribal organizations.

VAWA 2022 has MILLIONS of dollars for Tribal governments and/or Tribal organizations. Where does public safety, truth and justice for ALL Alaskans exist in the great State of Alaska?

Congressman Elect Nick Begich III is and will continue to work for Alaskans and to protect Alaska and our resources.

    • Joe,
You expect Lisa to do anything for us?? Forget it already, she is already bought and paid for by the Marxist Left. You know, the same political party you both belong to. Wake up and stop smoking whatever it is that you have been smoking.

        • Justin: save the lecture on sarcasm. It’s not even obvious the original comment was offered as sarcasm.
Even if it was, what’s the point?
In politics one must work with the material or wind up as yet another howling fog, baying at the moon.
Whatever you or anyone thinks of Lisa Murkowski, she’s obviously a political survivor in what has become a very rugged environment. She also has demonstrated an ability get some things accomplished, which isn’t all bad and somewhat remarkable given how toxic contemporary politics has become.

  4. It will be worth 30 minutes of your time listening to Steve Bannon’s AmFest 2024 speech from this weekend. He specifically talks about the senators like Princess Lisa who are intentionally thwarting President Trump’s cabinet nominees…and what they need to hear from us. ‘https://rumble.com/v6138qq-steve-bannon-speech-at-amfest.html?e9s=src_v1_pr

  5. Special Committee on Crimes Against Humanity committed by US “allies” and those who vote to fund these criminal operations… But that second part may disqualify one or two Hard Chargers on the short list… Maybe we can print them a waiver like the Federal Reserve prints the funding… ^^^

  6. Hi Suzanne:

There is an error in the article. Lisa will stay on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, not come off, per Senator Thune’s press release.

Happy Chanukah and Merry Christmas to all MRAK readers who observe.

“She will also continue to serve on the Energy Committee as well as the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. She comes off of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, however.”

  7. Who’s that guy in the picture? I’ve seen him few times over the years but can’t put a name to the face. What’s Lisa going to do without her Uncle Joe sending her millions.

  8. Senator Lisa Murkowski as chair of the Indian Affairs Committee needs to amend VAWA 2022 and replace the word “may” with the word “shall” to ensure that the Attorney General and the U.S. DOI Secretary are required to have a MOU to ensure that all Tribal governments and/or Tribal Organizations in Alaska are working collaboratively, i.e. government-to-government on behalf of all Alaskans and all Alaska resources.

President Trump in his first term of office worked for Alaska Natives. The budget then reflected millions for Alaska Natives. U.S. Assistant DOI Secretary was Tara Sweeney. AG William Barr visited Alaska and gave Alaska an additional $7.5 – $10 million dollars.

Alaska is a mandatory P.L. 280 State with concurrent jurisdictions. Alaskans need to elect a SHERIFF.

Alaskans need to elect an ATTORNEY GENERAL to ensure that he/she is doing his/her job. 1. State is his/her client. 2. His/her first allegiance is to the public interest. 3. He/she must assist the Governor – Article III Section 16 to ensure that the Governor’s responsibility of the laws are faithfully executed.

Our constitutions need protection. Our constitutional rights must be protected.

    Alaska needs judicial reform.

Alaska now has a stronger leadership with our new Elected Congressman Begich. Alaska will be made strong again.

  9. Look at the first 4 names under appropriations. Four swamp creatures that should resign their seats today!
I vote to put Murkowski in charge of the Orange Pajamas committee in GITMO. Put her right next to Obama’s cell.

  10. So glad to not be represented by dumb & dumber! They are why moving & trucking companies are the fastest growing industry in Alaska because everyone is leaving you all are so corrupt!
