Watch: ‘Civil War’ movie trailer, which paints picture of a dystopian America splitting in two

A movie that depicts a dark view of America’s future, as it splits apart into tribes of values — conservative vs. liberal — is previewed by a trailer posted on YouTube. The movie itself will be released in the spring, during what is likely to be another deeply contentious presidential election.

In the trailer, viewers learn that the premise is that 19 states have seceded from the union. Those who have seen civil war in other nations know this does not happen without bloodshed.

Director Alex Garland directs the dystopian political thriller with the tagline “All Empires Fail,” set in the near future, a time when factions from Texas and California clash for control of the White House and revolutionaries attempt to infiltrate Washington, D.C., which is a fortress of fortification.

  3. What peaceful means to resolve this ongoing and relentless internal attack on this nation, its citizens, and their Constitutional rights remains? Civil disobedience? Tax revolts?

    The most powerful one involves not relying on whatever it is that we can do, but appealing to a higher authority, and doing all that we can spiritually to fulfill our intended purposes in accordance with his will. An appeal to heaven. Proceed at once. No delay. Persist.

      • I understood it to be the “Texas-California Alliance”. I believe the director ment it that way so that it would not be seen as a “Right-Left thing” but a Citizen-Totalitarian thing..I do love the rose colored glasses on Plemon! He is a very underrated actor.

    • Actually, there are millions of conservatives in California. However, our constitutional republic has features of democracy; one being our election system wherein 50% of the voters plus one can out-vote the other 50%. We then call it “the will of the voters” when, in reality, it’s only the will of 50% of the voters. Then, we call entire regions of our country red or blue; like California and Texas. As a culture, our communication is quite misleading.

    At one point in the interview he says about “demoralized” people:

    “They are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli in a certain pattern [alluding to Pavlov]. You can not change their mind even if you expose them to authentic information.     Does that sound like anyone you might know or who frequently comments here?

    Bezmenov continues describing a “demoralized” person:

    “As I mentioned before, exposure to true information does not matter anymore…A person who was demoralized is unable to assess true information. The facts tell nothing to him. Even if I shower him with information, with authentic proof, with documents, with pictures; even if I take him by force to the Soviet Union and show him [a] concentration camp, he will refuse to believe it, until he [receives] a kick in his fan-bottom. When a military boot crashes his balls then he will understand. But not before that. That’s the [tragedy] of the situation of demoralization.”

    Yep, that sounds like a few people who frequently comment here.

  12. The demonic left celebrates crime, open borders- the end of national sovereignty- the murder of the unborn, high taxes, restrictions on freedom of thought (woke), gun confiscation, and more. These people are uncivilized. Is it any wonder that sane people contemplate separating from these loons?

  13. I suspect this is Hollywood’s way to fear monger uninformed watchers and readers of CNN, CNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, ADN (yes ADN) , WAPO, NYT, ETC. etc. of what conservatives can do to ruin the US. When in fact, , its the extreme left that has already ruined and maimed our country by the myriad of disastrous policies. And that footage of DC buildings–references to J6. Yup–thats the plan.

  14. I don’t believe I’ve ever read a single story on this website that encourages reconciliation. It’s all liberal pitted against conservative all the time. Must Read’s obvious intent is to drive people further and further apart – to build walls instead of bridges. This is a recipe for disaster. Thoughts become words. Words become actions. Actions become dangerous. And it’s obvious that some of the readers (and contributors?) of this site are just hankering for a fight.

      As I have stated on innumerable occasions here, I am NOT a conservative, and have repeatedly taken issue with a number of posters here regarding core ‘conservative’ (sic) issues, such as the unhealthy and one-sided relationship between the governments of Israel and the USA. But even stating all that, is is ABUNDANTLY clear to me, as it is to any halfway-objective observer, that virtually ALL of the political intransigence, arrogance, and coordinated loss of freedom in the USA and around the world in the past decade has been at the hands of the so-called “left”, who are really just a neofeudal globalist cabal along with their ignorant and gullible hangers-on.

      It has been nothing but a stead running retreat of freedom in the USA, and globally, as the globalists have pursued a relentless campaign composed of equal parts social-divide-and-conquer, and health fearmongering, to consolidate their power and control.

      And then, when those who have been pushed to the limits of their patience, and to the limits of their tolerance of injustice, dare to speak up and fight back, you and your globalist masters DARE to speak of “reconciliation” and “compromise”? Sorry, but FU! There can be no lasting or meaningful compromise or reconciliation with fundamental evil, and that is EXACTLY what the anti-human globalist totalitarian agenda represents.

Looking around the world (and in Alaska in particular), I’d say that Americans are by far the freest people on the planet.             It makes me feel better that you are no longer hiding your true beliefs, that you are admitting who you are, and that you are unburdening your soul. Be yourself, not the persona you’ve developed named “Jefferson”. It’s a big step from admitting who you really are to the next step in setting yourself free, don’t play to the crowd just say your piece and be ready to support and defend your beliefs. Turn over a new leaf and start to actually think for yourself while knowing why it is you believe what it is that you believe. I think you can do it and I’m always here to help.

    • Interesting analysis, yet it seems to me that most conservatives simply wish to live their life and let others be. It is mostly the progressive sect, who demand and push for general acceptance of THEIR ideas, most of which are not conducive to a harmonious society. If they do not get unquestioned support, then the system is abused to perverse the laws on the books to make it happen.
      Take freedom of speech, how many times has the liberal set excoriated, doxxed people, for simply speaking their mind, politically correct speech is decided by the few, who take offense to anything challenging their ideas. These days in some places using a wrong pronoun can get you fired.
      Take gender bending for example, most people I know do not care one wit what you do in your bedroom or who you love, but when they come after kids abusing the “privacy” and “discrimination” laws to manipulate the system, you bet there is push-back.
      Take EV vehicle and the climate stuff, any half-way literate person can see, how the climate predictions from the 1970’s to today have not come to pass, yet laws are manipulated to fuel this hysteria. We clearly can not produce enough energy to fuel our lives without oil/gas, but somehow we are to pretend that electricity just shows up in our wall socket by magic and wishful thinking.
      Sadly I am of the opinion that many would be more open to some of these issues if they were presented in a more factual and evenhanded, less dogmatic fashion, commensurate with their actual occurrences instead of the autocratic approach that leaves no room for actual debate.

Anyone with vision knows socialism/communism runs counter to human nature and can only exist under the heavy hand of fascism, totalitarianism and tyranny. As to Democrats, they promise a communist, big-government agenda; and, when elected, they seek to keep their promise (example: collective healthcare). Republicans, on the other hand, promise a free-market, small government agenda; however, when they are elected, they go right along with Democrats’s agenda. Which party is worse?   20. A civil war is unfortunately going to be the only thing that liberals will understand. Plus we’re the ones with all the guns. My concern is that it will be much different than the 1860’s. If we are fighting among ourselves, we would be very vulnerable to China, Russia etc..

  22. I would very much like this country to split into two or more smaller countries. My former countrymen can go and live in a heavily centralized, one party state with all of their “culture” they would like. Long ago they have told us they do not want to share a country with us with all of their personal to institutional canceling. Let’s take them up on their offer.
