Trolling NAACP warning on Florida travel, Sen. Rick Scott issues one of his own — for Socialists

Sen. Rick Scott of Florida issued his own “formal travel advisory for socialists visiting Florida,” in a statement that advised the state is “openly hostile” to socialists and their enablers.

“The state of Florida devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges faced by Socialists and others who work in the Biden Administration,” wrote Scott in a press release.

His statement came after the NAACP issued a travel advisory for Florida on Saturday describing Florida as a terrorist state and Gov. Ron DeSantis’ stance against racism in schools as “aggressive attempts to erase Black history and to restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in Florida schools.”

The NAACP said that Florida has “become hostile to Black Americans.” The NAACP board of directors chairman Leon W. Russell lives in the Tampa Bay area.

Sen. Scott mocked the NAACP with his own spin: “The state of Florida devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges faced by Socialists and others who work in the Biden Administration.”

Scott continued, “Let me be clear – any attempts to spread the oppression and poverty that Socialism always brings will be rebuffed by the people of Florida. Travelers should be aware that attempts to spread Socialism in north Florida will fail and be met with laughter and mockery.”

Scott was using the language of the NAACP statement and turning it back on the radical organization. Scott said his travel advisory was “in direct response to the Biden Administration attempts to erase capitalism and the system that has brought prosperity to Florida and the entire United States.”

  1. Flat, hot, humid, hurricanes, mosquitos, gators, and The Villages…

Not sure who would want to go there to begin with.

    • Low cost of living
      No income tax
Theme park capital of the world
      Hottest economy in the country
Beaches on 3 of its 4 borders
      Low crime outside of Orlando
      Ongoing job growth
Parents get input in their kids education

Yeah, I can see why you’d avoid it.

        • That’s an option right out of the NYT editorial page.

He has Disney fighting on several fronts spending money they don’t have.

One doesn’t take on the largest corporations in America and win overnight.

    • Really, Whidbey. Hardly any homeless camps or Covidian maskholes, and barely a single sidewalk turd to be seen anywhere.
      How utterly unprogressive.

        • When have you been to Miami?
          Jacksonville, maybe.m

Id be willing to compare homeless camps in Fla against any blue city or state anytime.

    • We have beautiful beaches. Tons of things to do. The northern part of the state is covered in hardwood forests and pine Groves that remind me of Colorado. If you get outside the big cities, you get into the countryside full of horse farms and old plantations. Orange groves. Some pretty unique people. Central Florida is the only part of the state that was never conquered during the war. Don’t get me started on the bald cypress trees on the edges of the ancient waterways home to Giant largemouth bass. Black crappie to catch by the thousands. Just about everyone down here has a boat and is on the water and some fashion. If you’ve never tried fried conch then you haven’t eaten anything. Giant spiny lobsters right outside your door and the freshest seafood available anywhere. Shrimp that actually taste like a shrimp. Fresh Briny oysters. Am I making you hungry yet? Since you’re not aware that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I’m going to suggest that your vision is not 20/20 and that you are borderline blind to not see the beauty the Florida has to offer. But hey that’s okay. Stay up there in your little iceberg. I’ve only been down here 3 years, and I’m discovering new things all the time on the road trips that I take. I recently found a little country store called Pa Pa’s, and they had the best smoked barbecued brisket sandwiches I’ve ever had in my life. They make a great Cuban sandwich as well. Anybody visiting Florida should Google that little country store and if you’re within a hundred miles of it, change course and get there ASAP.

  2. More mockery and ridicule please. A necessary weapon in the 20th century in the war against communism, and still a weapon for us today. Use it.

  3. For the NAACP to troll the way the did, it tells me the left is really scared of DeSantis.

And the current leadership of the NAACP is vapid and brainless.

  4. How funny a ‘terrorist group’ calling a state that upholds our construction, rule of law and freedom for all, a terrorist state. Hilarious! Good job Senator Scott!

  5. Reminds me of the ad in the Fairbanks Daily News MIner, 80’s or 90’s, where the Masked Man held a gun to the head of a Wolf, informing tourist to come to AK or … “The Wolf Gets Shot!”
    It was classic Alaskana humor!!!

  6. The GOP is populated by nutjobs looking for problems that don’t exist. The only question is what degree of whining will take place when they lose the next Presidential election.

  7. I know a black man from Tampa/ St Pete, Fla.
He is working at Seven Glaciers for the summer. …… He loves Florida.
Especially the fact that Fla didn’t shut down for Covid & put him out of work.
