Support the work of Must Read Alaska

In 2016, an Alaska domestic violence nonprofit posted an item on social media that classified the slogan “Make America Great Again” as “hate speech,” such as you might hear from the KKK or other white supremacy groups.

Must Read Alaska called out that characterization on these pages. It’s what we do here.

Every day we defend sensible policy and conservative viewpoints from the attacks by the Left.

It’s a lot of work, and the hits from the far left just keep coming. But we’re winning! As this election shows, the mainstream media had the biggest beatdown of all — caught collaborating with leftists one too many times, and the public is fed up. If you’re going to be biased, at least be honest about it — like Must Read Alaska is, telling everyone “we’re conservative here,” at every opportunity.

Many Alaskans — at least 20,000 a day — come by here for news, commentary, and the vibrant forum in the comment section — the best in Alaska. It’s a respite from the woke liberal media that dominates the state, and it has grown more important than ever over the years because of your support and because of the current state of our nation. On our social media accounts, even though the overlords on the dominant “site that shall not be named’ try to keep us down through shadow banning, we’re reaching tens of thousands of Alaskans a day.

Must Read Alaska has exceeded 60 million views, and we have approved over 450,000 comments on stories. The site has endured and fought off brute force attacks — hundreds of thousands of them each year — by bad actors from the Left.

Our fantastic mobile app is used by hundreds of Alaskans — you can download it for free from your phone’s App Store. Just search for Must Read Alaska.

Your help is greatly appreciated in keeping Must Read Alaska alive and well, even as the Left tries to take MRAK down in every way possible. Thank you for supporting this project, dedicated to keeping the media balanced in Alaska.

Here is the link to support Must Read Alaska, if you are so moved to help out.

Thanks to everyone who already has contributed. You make a huge difference!

  1. Thank you for what you do. It’s not been an easy road but thankfully you seem unburdened by what has been, what is, and what could be all in the context of today (yes, I’m going to miss her).

    • I am quite certain there are plenty of guidelines that need to be followed to keep the comment level civil and worth reading considering the target MRAK could become if not controlled in some manner.

    • Cute!
What part of a “moderated comment section” do you not understand?
It takes actual eyeballs to read every comment. My hat is off to Suzanne everyday for making the effort to bring us not only breaking news, but moderate all these posts, letting them go where they lead and keeping it civil. It is a herculean effort and I for one am very grateful.
A shout-out also to Jon Faulkner and his team.

  2. I’m afraid I can’t pay, being on a fixed income. But I will continue to contribute my alternative points of view, thereby engaging your readers in lively discussions which will help to ensure their continuing support.

    • “I’m afraid I can’t pay, being on a fixed income.” “financially independent, moderately wealthy, retired from a successful professional career.” You need to change brands of halo polish.

      • Jay,
He’s just another typical, ordinary, POS, Democrat. Two-faced liar. Hipocrite.
So brainwashed and steeped in nonsense that he does it without thinking, and without a conscience.

  3. And there is another reason that I cannot send money to Must Read Alaska.

Yesterday, you will remember that President Biden made a speech promising a peaceful transfer of power to the new Trump administration. This is his pledge, and it will most certainly happen, as emotionally difficult as it will be for him to do.

Now, we all remember the events of four years ago when Trump refused to concede the election, made patently false claims of election rigging, and incited a violent attack on the Capitol building.

Of course, Must Read Alaska is a partisan website. But the fact that MRAK has not and will never publish an article covering Biden’s speech is disgraceful. Its silence on this newsworthy event illustrates not only the degree of its bias but also how deeply ashamed the MAGA/Republican Party actually is for having carried out these malicious acts.

So much for the Party of Lincoln. Welcome to the Party of Putin.

    • Ha! At least Whidbey speaks his own truth……which is a brainwashed version of his own Marxism. The reason Biden chooses a peaceful transfer of power to Trump is because he is scared to death of Trump. First of all, America has suffered four years of an illegitimate president in Biden. Looking at the numbers of votes coming from Democrats in 2016 and 2024 versus the extra 18 million from 2020 bears out the evidence of election fraud. Trump can help throw Biden into prison if he wants to…….and he may. Democrats are abandoning Biden like rats running back deep into the darkness of the sewers from which they were born.
As for Whidbey, he is just another feckless, miserable Democrat, probably old, crippled, and internally unhealthy, who has a sourness from his own unsuccessful life. Of course, he will not donate to MRAK. He is a tightwad in his personal life and a typical Democrat who takes advantage of every free thing available to him. Not the kind of person you would want as a neighbor for help, unless you had something to give him first. A user. A hater. His miserable life is to be pitied. The irony here, is that MRAK is the only thing he has to look forward to everyday. He should donate to help him clear his conscience, if he even has one.

      • Your Christian love really shines through Crissy. I can’t resist challenging your assertions, however.

As for Whidbey, he is just another feckless (sorry, I’m very responsible, moderately wealthy, and successful), miserable (I have a great sense of humor and a sunny dispoaition) Democrat (true, but I was a Republican for most of my life before the GOP went off the deep end), probably old (60s – you be the judge), crippled (fully mobile and active hiker), and internally unhealthy (generally good health but a little overweight), who has a sourness from his own unsuccessful life (financially independent, moderately wealthy, retired from a successful professional career). Of course, he will not donate to MRAK (maybe when Hell freezes over). He is a tightwad in his personal life (I donate to many causes that I believe in, the arts, educational institutions, political parties, and I donate my time to help people with cancer) and a typical Democrat who takes advantage of every free thing available to him (I do take Social Security and Medicare, just as you might, or surely will. I’ve never taken a dime in any kind of welfare). Not the kind of person you would want as a neighbor for help (I watch my neighbors houses, help to repair them, and manage a local utility system for free), unless you had something to give him first. A user (I don’t drink, smoke, or use any illicit drugs and never have). A hater (That’s a little strong, but I do dislike people like Trump who are real jerks). His miserable life is to be pitied (pretty sure you’d be jealous of my position in life if you knew me). The irony here, is that MRAK is the only thing he has to look forward to everyday (Pushing back is a duty, not entertainment. For joy, I look to my friends, travel, my kids, mi grandkids, the arts, helping others, studying and learning new things, and contributing to my community).

So, you see you hate me without even knowing me. That says more about you than it does about me.

“And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Matthew 22:37–39)..

        • I’m a Buddhist. With a great need for the Truth. Why do you cherry pick from the Bible when you continue your own hatred for those you disagree with? That brand of sophistry is self-revealing about you, and you will continue to get called out.

          • OK, so you’ve gone full-on middle-aged divorcee and taken up Buddhism. Cool.
In that case, let’s just summarize by saying that your nastiness is bad Karma.

Oh, and if it’s Truth you’re looking for, you sure won’t find it on Fox, Truth Social, or Newsman.

        • Actually, Whidbey, I believe that you are all those things that you describe yourself to be, within your own self-described merit.

I, for one, do not hate you, but I do pity you, so as to live within such an existence whilst engaging within a fully willfully ignorant existence that allows you to present the undignified lack of individuality versus the hive existence that you so promote, under a governmental control that holds no bounds.

We, those that oppose you, are more similar than you believe, that is, we all of us wish to live our lives within our own lives.

The difference is that you wish all of us to live our own lives under the burden of the overseers of our supposed Government, whereas the rest of us wish to live our lives free from the overseers of our supposed Government.

Show me where I am wrong.

      • OK, so let me speculate about you since you’re all over me. Probably live in the Valley, drive a big pickup. Divorced and bitter about it, but can’t find another man so now hates them. Ex very glad to be gone, probably with a younger chick. Now you like animals instead. Probably a struggling realtor. A bit overweight, too much makeup won’t do the job. Gun owner and lover, too.

    • So, Whidbey, maybe you could help me find a partisan leftist news site where I’m allowed to comment anonymously as a conservative. No,no I’ll wait……. You know as well as I do that not a single one would allow it. The fact that Suzanne has the integrity and honesty to post your comments pretty much refutes everything you have ever said on here.

      • Sorry, but I’m pretty well known in Alaska, and I wouldn’t want anyone with an AR showing up on my doorstep. I’m not stupid. Many Conservatives have proven that this type of behavior is not beyond them.

          • It appears that WTD has several competing personalities, as evidenced by the various avatars in his/her responses.
Maybe Dr. Dan can sort him/her out.
It should further be noted that s/he has an inflated sense of self-importance and is clearly projecting. Most violent behavior in the last few years has come from the left with organized BLM and Antifa riots, anti-Israel protests at universities, threats and protests in front of supreme court judges homes and lest we forget the idiotic vitriol spewed by the deranged ladies of “The View”.

  4. Suzanne Downing is THE best journalist and news reporter ever to live in the 49th State. And,
THE most honest. Thank you, Must Read Alaska, for your courage and for helping get out the Truth.

  5. I mailed off a donation about a week ago, and now I just might send off another. MRAK is an Alaskan oasis in the desert of ‘wide-open-borders’ corporate and woke journalism.

And finally… will the next Congress get a spine and shut off the faucet of taxpayer dollars to National Public Democrats Radio? NPR news is 99.9% pure partisan propaganda and worthless, no matter how brightly the counterfeit coin is polished.

  6. Just sent a nice donation to MRAK, and a thank you to Suzanne, for helping Alaska and America get back on track after being steered by some nasty forces of evil and dishonesty. I encourage every reader and commenter here at MRAK to do the same. Thank you.

    • Everyone here at MRAK needs to give Suzanne a big bonus for everything she does, and everything she did, to inform us of the actual facts and to promote honesty in journalism. MRAK is one of the few remaining media outlets that reports the truth.
Please help support this amazing lady.

  7. We’re in too. Nancy and I love MRAK and we are going to donate directly from Lisa’s inheritance. If Lisa has a problem with that, she can take it up with Suzanne at a later date when we aren’t around.
