Whether they’re scofflaws or simply magical beings, many members of the House and Senate don’t seem to heed the call of Dr. Anne Zinke, Alaska’s Chief Medical Officer, to create a six-foot space between Alaskans, in order to stop the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.
In the above photo, originally appearing at the Anchorage Daily News, several top Senate lawmakers confer on the Senate floor during the final days of deliberations. At least six and possibly eight lawmakers are crowded into a six-foot circumference.
Meanwhile, in the House, Rep. David Eastman of Wasilla has taken to wearing a protective mask during his time on the House floor, while the six-foot rule in the chambers appears to be merely a suggestion by state’s chief medical officer.
WTF. Senator’s can’t count.
Yes, I saw meetings like this among employees at Carr’s Abbott Loop this week during “Elder Hours.”
Do they think they are immune? Above COVID-19? Why are they not videoconferencing? Proof there may be a serious shortage of common sense in Juneau? And humility….?

I don’t think they can video conference. They need to be on the floor to vote. Just like our legislators in Washington D.C. I have also noticed that they pay no attention to the mandated keep your distance rules. They must all be special!
At least half of those pictured in the 6 foot span are above 65 and all are male, does anyone wonder why the mortality leans heavily towards older males? The worst part is these clowns will soon be traveling throughout the state to get back to their home districts and you can be sure they won’t be practicing social distancing when they get home.

These folks have become so used to be treated with complete deference that they start believing they are special, important, and, in this case, immune from threats that common people face. I have been in and around the Legislature for decades. It is even worse now than some time back. Humility? It is in very short supply in Juneau.
Who knows? Maybe we won’t have to go through the trouble of voting them out.
Six feet apart or six feet under, your choice……..
Pray for “under.” Alaskans have been quarantined by this Legislature for too long.
