Repeal Now moves forward to ditch ranked-choice voting, as Bernadette Wilson steps into new role

9

Repeal Now Chairwoman Judy Eledge announced that Bernadette Wilson, who recently launched her campaign for governor of Alaska for the 2026 election, will no longer be involved with the organization’s efforts to repeal ranked-choice voting.

While Wilson continues to support the repeal, her departure from the repeal ballot initiative campaign marks a shift, as she focuses on her gubernatorial run.

“We wish Ms. Wilson luck in her new endeavor,” said Eledge. “Our non-partisan mission to repeal ranked-choice voting remains steadfast, and we’re committed to continuing this work for Alaska voters.”

Repeal Now advocates for eliminating ranked-choice voting in favor of “simple and fair elections.” The organization will continue under the leadership of Eledge and Treasurer Bethany Marcum.

  1. Perhaps she will do what Dunleavy did NOT do. Instead of trying to convince 100,000+ voters to repeal RCV in a rigged voting system, we only need to convince just ONE: the Governor. We read in Art. 3, Sec. 16:

The governor shall be responsible for the faithful execution of the laws. [Begin by declaring the 2020 RCV initiative as INVALID, because it violated the LAW that citizen initiatives be confined to ONE TOPIC]. He may, by appropriate court action or proceeding brought in the name of the State, enforce compliance with any constitutional or legislative mandate, or restrain violation of any constitutional or legislative power, duty, or right by any officer, department, or agency of the State or any of its political subdivisions. [The state supreme court was guilty of declaring the single-topic law “unconstitutional”. It has NO ENFORCEMENT POWERS. Their decisions are NOT “self-enforcing”. This section gives it totally to the Governor. ]. This authority shall not be construed to authorize any action or proceeding against the legislature. [Which means the Governor MIGHT decide to proceed against the judiciary!].

Doesn’t anyone besides me actually read the constitution? Oh yeah, Eastman did.

  2. I may have some details be wrong as it has been awhile since I read it, BUT –
In that big voters handbook, I’m sure I remember 33 pages on RCV & the final / summary page?
THEY NEVER SAID VOTE NO. OUR SIDE did a SHT job of explaining WHAT it was, HOW it worked, & NEVER SAID to vote NO! No one I knew understood it thoroughly until it was too late.
And no one ever said OUTSIDE MONEY PUSHED FOR & FUNDED IT
The opposite side? BIG & BOLD ON THEIR PAGE: VOTE YES! & they lied about why they wanted it!
Mary Peltola NEVER would have gotten in if RCV wasn’t in effect!

  3. I guess you guys just like wasting money. The voters of Alaska like rank choice. Get over it and improve your policies if you want to get elected, cry babies.

    • Alaska voters like RCV like we like Peltola and Murkowski.

We don’t… and RCV is the only way those of similar ilk get elected.

Grab yourself a pointy cap and hang in the corner until you’re better.
