Most registered voters, 59%, support a federal ban on transgender procedures such as puberty blockers and gender reassignment surgeries for minors, a new national poll found.

According to the poll, although both sexes favored a federal ban on transgender procedures for minors, men were more likely to favor it, with 63% in favor compared to 56% for women.

Among the ethnicities polled, “others” favored a ban the most at 63% compared to 61% for whites. Of black registered voters polled, 46% favored a ban, while 32% were opposed and 22% were not sure.

Among age demographics, the categories most in favor of a federal ban were 45-54 and 54-65, both of which polled at 61%, while 18-34 were the least in favor, albeit still at a 52% majority of them still supporting banning the procedures for minors.

Although voters with and without college degrees both favored a federal ban by more than 50%, those without degrees favored it more at 61%, while 55% of voters with a college degree supported a ban.

Voters with children supported a ban more than those without, at 61% to 52% respectively.

Geographically, rural voters favored a ban more than suburban or urban voters, at 64% compared to 57% and 58% respectively.

Regionally, the Northeast was least supportive of a federal ban, with 51% in favor. The South was the most supportive at 61%, while the Midwest favored it at 60%. Voters in the West favored a ban by 59%.

Transgender procedures on minors are now banned in 25 states, including states such as Ohio which, according to data from the nonprofit Do No Harm, was one of the top in the nation for procedures and procedures per capita. According to Do No Harm’s data, released last week, at least 13,994 transgender procedures were performed on minors across the U.S. between 2019-2023, The Center Square reported.

Do No Harm is a nonprofit group of physicians and other medical professionals that gets its name from the Hippocratic oath: “First, do no harm.” According to its website, Do No Harm is “fighting to curtail the unscientific and individually harmful practice of so-called ‘gender affirming care'” for children.

In an email to The Center Square, David Byler with Noble Predictive Insights, wrote that “on many issues surrounding trans rights and students or youth, the GOP has public opinion on their side. There’s a reason that, when you look at GOP ads, they are constantly hammering this and other related issues. And some prominent Democrats are pushing out moderate, rather than left, messages.”

He added that “Republicans know that trans issues are a strong social issue for them – and after getting hit hard on abortion so many times since Dobbs, they want to make sure they’re pushing back and finding social issues that work for them.”

  1. It should be more than banned. So called medical treatment and procedures of this kind performed on minors should be classified as felony sexual abuse.

  2. Wow… 59% is still an astonishing “LOW”percentage against the transitioning of children!!!! Society’s morality has taken a nosedive!

  3. I can’t believe any sane competent adult would want to change their child’s physical sex. I believe that this is child abuse of the worst kind. And adult can make that decision about themselves but not others. Also the taxpayers should not be responsible for your mentally insane decisions.

  4. Ban? No. While I can’t think of any, there may be the rare genuine need. In those 1in 10 million cases, physicians should be able to perform the procedure.

But the vetting process should be absolutely brutal.

There are also some cases where puberty blockers can be helpful. I know of a case where an 8 year old friend of one of my kids was developing significant breast mass. She was put on a minor puberty blocker to slow the process down.

Except in those 1 in 10 million cases, children should not be mutilated to suit the trend of the hour. Or because a liberal woman wanted a girl and got a boy.

These kids need help, support, and mental health care. Not mutilation.

    • Not long ago, they found these kids with these medical situations was CAUSED by eating food(beef, chicken and pork and other foods) that had growth harmones in the food the animals were given. That’s one of the reasons why ORGANIC became so popular. Today they feed alot of misc stuff to grow larger animals before butering/processing…Also alot of non meat items grown are given ferilizer and misc?? to help the growth of vegetables and whatever else is grown.

    • Come on MA you are smarter than that! This is the same lame argument that is used for abortions. There is a significant and clear difference between wanting your child to pretend to be a different sex and a real medical issue. While the former is clearly parents making a statement by subjecting their child to experimental, irreversible procedures/medications the latter is a defined medical diagnosis with factual diagnostic findings. The drugs are use as a treatment just like a cancer drug or a D&C for a fetal demise in utero.
It is disingenuous to a high degree to conflate the two and lump them together. To perform irreversible cosmetic surgery/drug therapy on a young person, who can not even fathom their future, due to their lack of life experience and reasoning, is unconscionable and abusive.

  5. There is a special class of people who support mutilation of young people’s genitals. It’s a subclass of pedophiles. These are the adults who have an extreme interest in the sex lives of children. The laws against this should be harsh.

  6. No such thing as a “trans kid.” it’s child abuse by adults in 100% of cases. Munchausen by proxy sometimes, sex abuse sometimes, it’s always the adults.

  7. I cannot believe there would/could ever be a need for legislation banning transgender procedures on children. I cannot believe there are actually parents and doctors that would allow such a thing.
    .
But, here we are. And it is a sad place for us as a society to be.

  8. The author failed to note the problematics of the methodology. Specifically, the respondents were self-selected or were contacted using cellphone texting. Respondents who signed up for the “opt-in online panel” are paid to take surveys after they answer an ad on social media. Respondents who participated by cellphone texting had to pay data rates to participate. Both of these facts negate the author’s claims about “registered voters.” Only a true random sample, in which every single registered voter has an equal chance at being selected would yield valid results that are then generalizable to “registered voters.” Such a sample is nearly impossible these days.

  9. Lessee, nearly 14,000 “procedures” performed on minors nationwide 2019 – 2023? Once the lawyers get themselves involved, I predict ownership of at least that many hospitals and clinics will change as the new Dr Moreau adherents get their day in court before juries of their peers. Cheers –

  10. If you want to control adults ,you must first separate them from what they love most and would say or do almost anything for and , that’s their children.

We are allowing this separation to happen, by allowing radical ideologies in schools, through the social media we allow our children and ourselves to watch, to voting in communists onto our school boards and assembly’s, to who are kids are hanging out with day to day.
We are giving them control of the narratives and our children.
You’ve got people that have the morality of Adélie penguins teaching our children about how behave as adults, and convincing our children to butcher themselves at a young age and if the parents don’t understand then they don’t love or understand you.
Separate them from their children first.
