Nick Begich is on Democrats’ newly released campaign target list

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has released its latest target list of Republican incumbents in the US House of Representatives who will be marked for attack. Alaska Congressman Nick Begich, a Republican, is on the list.

“Today, we’re unveiling our offensive target list for 2026. Democrats are poised to retake the House — and defeating these vulnerable House Republicans will be key to doing that,” the DCCC said in its notice.

The unveiling of the list follows the March announcement of the “DCCC’s 2026 Frontliners,” 26 incumbent House Democrats seeking re-election in competitive districts.

Along with Tuesday announcement, the DCCC launched nominee fund pages to raise the funds for the eventual Democratic nominee. In Alaska, there is no announced Democrat nominee to take on Begich, who bounced Mary Peltola out of office after her first term. Democrats have not indicated that Peltola will try for that seat.

The DCCC is the same group that put Peltola on its “at risk” list in 2023, and then spent millions of dollars to try to save her, to no avail.

In 2026, the center-left Cook Political Report puts Begich in the “driver’s seat” for keeping the seat, as of February, 2025. But that’s without knowing who the possible contender might be.

Recent polls indicate that the Democratic National Party’s approval rating has reached historic lows. An NBC News poll conducted from March 7-11 found that only 27% of registered voters view the Democratic Party favorably, marking the lowest rating in NBC News polling since 1990.

  1. Funny 27% democrats willing to vote that’s saying a lot about who they have to choose from! Nicks got it in the bag he’s doing a awesome job and withhold on himself side he will not be defeated!

  2. Beings that NB3 has been working his butt off for Alaska and Alaskans, clearly a remarkable difference from Mary, it’ll be a ‘very’ tall order to knock him off.

  3. I always vote Republican, but what I need to see in order to do more than just vote is real, signed into law progress on gun rights. In Congress right now are bills for national reciprocity (meaning Alaskans would have constitutional carry in all states, not only 28 other states), repeal of NFA, repeal of the Gun Control Act of 1968, abolishing ATF, removal of sound suppressors from firearms definitions in law, and many other laws. Trump will sign any of these brought to him. Any elected Alaskan not signing on to and honestly promoting these bills won’t see me among their donors even if I cannot vote for their opponents.

Congressman Begich and Senator Sullivan tout support for Alaska resource development, Alaska energy, a gas line, fiscal restraint, and securing US borders. Who doesn’t? Even Democrats say all that. Pushing back against gun control can be done in Congress right now, and Trump will sign it. Biden and Sullivan need to put some actual scores up on the board. Cheerleading rhetoric is fine but Alaska Republicans need to see something honestly happen by November of next year.

  4. Because Peltola did such a great job. Keep up the good work, Nick. In a couple short months, you’ve already done more for Alaska and Alaskans than what’s-her-name. If you’re catching flak, you must be over the target. Good thing that (D)ems don’t shoot straight.

    • FYI … Some of the best prospects to unseat Lisa in 2028 could be:
… Kelly Tshibaka (probably the best prospect)
      … NB3 (could be a possibility – maybe?)
… Dan Sullivan (if he won, then the next “R” Govenor could appoint another suitable candidate to backfill Sulley’s seat, risky play! Maybe Joe Miller?)
… Mike Dunleavy (aka: Big Mike)
      … Joe Miller
      … Buzz Kelley
      … Jim Jansen (CEO Lynden)
… Kevin Clarkson (former AK Attorney General)
… Jonathan Rubini (co-founder JL Properties)
Based on Lisa’s clear infection of TDS, she’s gotta-go on or before 2028.

  5. I believe the democrats think they can win the state and turn it blue. Since Alaska doesn’t have a active republican party and the elections proved that voting republican is meaningless. The republican leadership is living in a dream world, they have completely failed the Alaskan people.

      • By allowing Murkowski to parasitically run as an “R” she should be disavowed by the Republican Party and they’ll not receive any funding from me till they get rid of such trash. Also, I believe it was liars with an “R” behind their name who, once in office, decided to jump in bed with the Dems in Juneau. That’s why

  6. Mary was the consummate ineffective House representative for Alaska. democrats benefited by having ‘their’ representative be a totally reliable vote machine.

Nick Begich on the other hand is smart and tirelessly pushes issues that benefit Alaskans. Nick has truly lived up to the promises of his campaign. Go Nick!
