Linda Boyle: A major win for workers who refused to take the Covid shot

I don’t know how many times I have heard people say that something needs to be done for those who lost their jobs for failing to take the experimental jab.

There have been some victories over the year. However, today’s news about New York City workers is a stunning victory.

The New York Supreme Court sided with the plaintiffs, those who lost their jobs for refusing to take the Covid shot.  The court ordered “all New York City employees who were fired for not being vaccinated to be reinstated with back pay.”  The court further stated that if you took the jab, it didn’t stop you from getting or transmitting the disease.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams had doubled down earlier this year and said they would not rehire those fired for not taking the shot. It seems the Supreme Court of New York State doesn’t agree with him.

For about 1,700 employees, that means they can get their jobs back and receive back pay. Many of those employees were police officers and firefighters.

It has always interested me that for financial gain some people were exempted during the Covid years.  That would include Mayor Adams who exempted athletes and performers from the jab mandate in 2022. When Adams announced his decision, he stated, “I’m going to make some tough choices. People are not going to agree with some of them,” Adams said. “I must move this city forward.”

NYC MAYOR OFFICIAL EXEMPTS ATHLETES, PERFORMERS FROM COVID VAX MANDATE

It seems sports and performers are more important than police and firefighters to the mayor. The mayor knows where his bread is buttered. The safety of New Yorkers wasn’t as important, I guess.

And the decision back then to exclude performers and athletes from not having to take the jab doesn’t pass the smell test. Yet that follows a lot of what happened during the Covid years. Decisions did not reflect the science-it is once again a matter of following the money.

  1. This article incorrectly claims that the New York Supreme Court made the reinstatement decision today, October 22. However, this decision was rendered on October 25, 2022. Two years ago.
This claim is also incorrect: “New York City Mayor Eric Adams had doubled down earlier this year and said they would not rehire those fired for not taking the shot.” Adams made that statement over two years ago.

  2. Too bad this will never help healthcare workers, and I’m not talking about high paid nursing staff. I’m talking about plant, housekeeping, food service, laundry stuff etc who are low paid and really had no choice but to comply.

  3. That is awesome. When are workers in Alaska, including Native Health, who were intelligent enough to retain their dignity and health going to be re hired and receive back pay?

Where is Dunleavy and his AG on this issue?

The idea our state does not protect residents from being forced by capricious employers to lose employment and careers or destroy their health is unacceptable.

We lose the best and most intelligent workers and retain the incompetent.

  4. Think on it…We retained the same incompetent governor, legislative body and those who were in charge during the covid sham. All medical persons including the author was all for the shot and lying to the public for the sake of a shot and high hospital costs that were never necessary. There is no such thing as an Alliance for good after the sham pandemic. Pretend, pretend and then pretend is the word. How much more money is the author and the doctors making off the public with “the big meeting” to show and tell. Fauci is done and lets all hope the cases creates a domino effect for trials against medical people and administrators that lied and lied to the public.

  5. The article says, “And the decision back then to exclude performers and athletes from not having to take the jab doesn’t pass the smell test.” This statement literally says the decision required performers and athletes to take the jab along with city employees. Its unlikely that is what she meant; but it’s literally what she said. Reference: 4th grade English class.

  6. This is an issue of liberty of conscience. For some This was like a forced cannibalism that offended the teachings entrained by Godly principles taught from the Holy Scriptures as proscribed choices.
In the US the public servants have not been delegated authority to subdue scriptural authority or the consciences, religious precepts of their equal neighbors.

  7. There is no question that IF you get sick from Covid you are more likely to need hospitalization, ICU, and die than an immunized person. In my profession (medicine) where we are meticulous about protection, and are immunized, we have not had any spikes in deaths with the various new versions of Covid after the first (2020). The most important point is avoid exposure. That means masks, handwashing, and avoiding sick people. One of the side-effects of this has been a dramatic reduction in flu deaths during at least one recent winter. (I think less than 5000, whereas most years are usually 20,000-50,000.)
