Flip: Murkowski now supports a Trump nominee

44

On the same day that Sen. Lisa Murkowski said she would not commit to voting to confirm any of President Donald Trump’s nominees for his cabinet because she was “learning,” she said she supports former North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum for secretary of the Department of the Interior.

During an Energy and Natural Resources committee hearing to consider his nomination, Murkowski and Burgum discussed Alaska’s energy and mineral potential and the need for the Department to dramatically improve its approach in the state.

“I don’t want the Department of the Interior to be a landlord—I want them to be a partner,” Murkowski said. “Hearing the Governor say that he views Alaska as ‘one of the biggest assets this country has’ is a breath of fresh air after the last four years. I look forward to working with Governor Burgum to unleash the energy and resource opportunities that Alaska possesses.”

In December, Murkowski was effusive about Burgum and Energy Secretary nominee Chris Wright, but last week, when asked by a reporter, she said she was not committing to any nominee because it was too early in the process.

  1. Lisa ma’am please come back to your oath duties of for & by we the people. Your on the wrong juice is all ma’am render to GOD what is GODS integrity to your oath means everything to all. Must read you flat out rock it.

  2. “is a breath of fresh air after the last four years.”?
What was wrong with the last 4 years? What about the Biden policies that you 100% supported for the last 4 years do you now dislike?
Seems like all the libs/dems/progs are changing suits so they can better blend in to the current national frame of mind. It’s a ruse. They are still the same slugs they have always been.

  3. With Trump the President saying people should go to jail for abusing their power, maybe, Lefty Lisa doesn’t want to follow in Liz Cheney’s footsteps after all. Maybe Lisa will be walking around with a MAGA hat on her confused head.

  4. If we all work together we can make sure she’ll be packing her bags the next time a new President announces his cabinet.

  5. “I don’t want the Department of the Interior to be a landlord—I want them to be a partner,” Murkowski said.

Then why did you vote to confirm Deb Haaland?

    • She sure does and her name is Diane Feinstein. Murkowski is owned by Feinstein. I got the pictures to prove it. After Jan 6th 2021, (election confirmation) Feinstein had Murkowski pinned up against a wall telling her what to do with her finger in Lisa’s face. Oh, and Eric Coomer was standing right there listening to their conversation. You’all remember Eric Coomer of Dominion Voting? I’ll be happy to send copies of those pictures if you like. So she has approved “A” nominee? That implies only one. Trump isn’t going to “Jail” anyone who hasn’t committed a crime. Do Tell Lisa…

  6. Lisa is doing what Lisa likes: attention. By being “wishy washy” she gets attention. Lots of attention. Which means she probably gets more “donations.” I like people to tell me their views up front. We know them anyway Lisa: just say it and quit begging for attention!

  7. Even a scowling RINO salmon just pulled from the net can sense which way the political winds are blowing, apparently.

Your principles-free political opportunism show itself once again, Princess Lisa of Nepotism.

    • And she looks just like one, also!

I swear, if I should one day ever see a photo of Princess Lisa of Nepotism that does NOT show her scowling or looking like a strident harpy, and I will faint from shock.

  8. Lisa,
    It’s not all about you.
Time to wake up, smell the coffee and leave the dark side before you wind up in the same deep dark quandary Liz Cheney lives in.

  9. Love to read the comments when oil hits 40 a barrel. Always had the crowd wanting to run Ted out of office. To my Mat Su friends, enjoy the Federal funds that expanded the highway from Mat Su Regional to Houston plus road improvements to Settler’s Bay and pay for a sheriff’s office.

    • No Cheechako, Alaska does not have counties, Sheriff’s Offices or Deputies. The Alaska State Troopers provide law enforcement services for areas outside cities.

  10. As a ranking member of the Resources Committee it is appropriate to comment on this nominee. More mud stays with MRAK with this type of reporting, Murkowski has cast iron shorts

  11. Murkowski got her marching orders from AIPAC, who have donated nearly half a million bucks to her. Burgum is a pro Israel Zionist who supports war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu AKA Benjamin Mileikowsky.

  12. Hurry up and confirm, Lisa. Vern wants to get started on his Mexican vacation. You’re burning daylight little queen.

    • Yeah. The real parties are down in Cabo. Lisa let’s me wear sandals, shorts, and opened cotton shirts. Good spirits all day. ……and night. And best of all, the little senioritas are friendly.

  13. A breath of fresh air? Joe gave you millions to pay people not to work! You patted yourself on the back for the hard work of dishing out all this money. What a fake.

  14. Is it possible that Lisa is reading the tea leaves and figuring out that, if she does not do the right thing and confirm Trump’s nominations, that she will soon get the Cheney treatment? That said, I have zero confidence that she at this point can choke down her TDS and make the right choices, not matter how good they might be for public polic.

  15. It has long appeared to me that Lisa is pretending to think carefully about decisions, while putting her moistened finger to the wind. She has made the wrong decisions over and over again.

  16. Many years ago when Scott McAdams of Sitka was running against Senator Murkowski her staff or campaign staff uncovered a court case that McAdams filed but NEVER did “man up” to. Alaskans need our elected representatives to be for the people and protect our constitutions and constitutional rights Alaska needs JUDICIAL REFORM!

Senator Murkowski is Chair of the Committee on Indian Affairs. President Biden wrote me a letter April 2024 in reply to my letters to him 2022 but never corrected what is burdensome to many Alaskans. U.S. Secretary DOI Haaland never replied. Congresswomen Peltola never replied. NOW THEREFORE, Senator Murkowski is in an excellent position to work for Alaskans and protect our constitutional rights and our Alaska Constitutional Inherent Rights – Article I Sec. 1. Alaska is rich with many resources and we-the-people need to have the rewards of those resources. Our governments are to protect us, not work against us and against our rich resources here in Alaska.

Our Permanent Fund Corporation Board needs to work for the people of Alaska. Board members need to follow the Corporation Bylawys and Alaska Statute. All Board members need to do a conflict of interest check to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. Attorney General Taylor doesn’t need an outside law firm to explain the law to him. The State is AG Taylor’s client and his first allegiance is to the public interest. The State of Alaska doesn’t need to spend $50,000-$450,000 on outside counsel and then not forthwith the report in whole or in part to we-the-people. We-the-people need transparency in all governments.

Alaskans need a FULL PFD check for 2025. Alaska needs JUDICIAL REFORM.

Happy Inauguration Day! Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

  17. Alaska is just a dream place for most, and will only become more so as the oligarchy settles in. Murkowski can wait and see if she wishes; it’s an independent thinker’s prerogative, the sign of an American

  18. Senator Murkowski didn’t seem to do much ‘learning’ about Biden’s cabinet picks. She voted for them all. She grudgingly says she will vote for Trump’s Interior Secretary after much deliberation. Her pathological TDS is showing even though she tries to make herself to be a Solomon in her deliberations. (3 times, Lisa? Really?). But no matter, there are enough republicans voting for Trump’s nominees that Lisa’s vote doesn’t matter.

By the way, her non appearance at the inauguration is a slap in the face for Alaskans. Her job is to represent her state at momentous events like an inauguration. Her pathological TDS seems to trump everything. It’s not all about you, all the time, Lisa!

  19. She pretends to be “learning” and focus on “good public policy” (which is Lisa-speak for “I’m going to do what I want but make it look like my TDS is legit”) while everyone knows full well what she is going to do. Or not do in the case of most Trump nominees. Just saw that she voted NO for Hegseth. Just like the rest of her Harvard-educated deep state friends. But at least she was “learning.” She needs to be Cheneyed. The sooner the better.
