KAWASAKI JUMPS AHEAD OF SEN. PETE KELLY
Early voting and questioned ballots counted today by the Division of Elections broke for the Democrats in two closely watched races in Fairbanks.
SENATE SEAT A:
Scott Kawasaki picked up 292 votes to Kelly’s 129 votes. He now has an advantage of 152 votes.
HOUSE DISTRICT 1:
In the House District 1 race, Kathryn Dodge picked up 169 early and questioned ballots to Republican Bart LeBon’s 80 votes.
TOTALS
SENATE: Kawasaki pulled ahead of Kelly by 152 votes.
HOUSE DISTRICT 1: Dodge is ahead of LeBon now by 10 votes for the House District 1 seat being vacated by Kawasaki.
ABSENTEES YET TO BE COUNTED
The number of absentees that have arrived as of Nov. 10, 2018:
217 full count absentee ballots have been logged for District 1.
123 full count absentee ballots have been logged for District 2.
That’s 310 absentee ballots logged in as of Nov. 10, and more will come in this week. Today’s mail has not been processed by the Division of Elections.
If you are a Republican and you do not reach out to Randy Ruderich for Absentee ballot assistance
then you will not do well. He is the master at his craft.
I hate to say it because it may come across as derogatory towards the new guv.
But senator Pete Kelly is a rock star. He has so much more experience and packs pretty much the same holster and uses pretty much the same caliber as Dunleavy.
But in my humble opinion watching these guys in action senator kelly is like governor Dunleavy’s other brother, more versed in how to hold the line on income tax and far more experienced as hes had the benefit of two tours of duty in Juneau
And I’m not writing to denigrate scott k but wtf has happened to the fairbanks we once knew and loved.
Kelly had to take some unpopular stands. So did Dunleavy.
In fact I’ll bet if you compare voting records you’d find a match maybe 95% .
Yet fairbanks somehow.bucks Alaskas state trend and looks to be in the process of jettisoning the senator who probably more than any other Senator, other than perhaps a retired Senator, who showed our current Governor the ropes in Juneau
Shame on you guys.
Senator Kelly was like a fricking Gene Theriault insofar as ethics, morality and work ethic in Juneau. A bit more conservative but a great leader for your constituency.
Shame on you Fairbanks.

Yeah, but Kawasaki let’s the good times roll. And he sends out tons of birthday cards.
He sends out all kinds of bat-crazy cards and letters – often with the wrong salutations to the wrong people in the wrong districts for the wrong things! But hey? Who cares! And spelling? Spelling, schmelling…. No worries! I’ve been wondering the same thing, Robert. What in the hell has happened to Fairbanks?
