Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy today announced the Permanent Fund Dividend Division will begin distribution of the 2020 Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) to eligible Alaskans on July 1, 2020.
The House and Senate passed a bill to pay about $1,000 for this year’s PFD, far from the $3,100 that is required by Alaska law. Normally the payments are made to eligible Alaskans in October.Â
“This has been a difficult situation for everyone – individual Alaskans have been hurt economically, businesses have been hurt economically. We’re going to do all we can to get that going in the right direction,” said Governor Dunleavy. “As a result, we’re going to move up the date for the PFD for Alaskans to July 1st. Usually that goes out in October, but we’re in extraordinary times and we need to make sure the people of Alaska have cash in their hands to help with this economy. I can’t think of a better time to do it than now. We’re starting the process right now so come July 1st, we’re going to be sending out the Permanent Fund checks to all Alaskans that qualify and are eligible.”Â
As of May 20, 2020, the Permanent Fund Dividend Division has received 671,364 PFD applications and 85 percent of applicants’ eligibility has been determined. The Division estimates nearly 600,000 Alaskans will receive payment on July 1. Because not all applicants will be determined by June 19, 2020, Alaskans may receive payments July 23, August 20, or subsequent months thereafter, as the division determines eligibility. The division pays dividends monthly until all eligible Alaskans are paid.

What happened to the 1600 then 1300? I’m am so sick of this Legislation.
This news must really piss off the recall wackos.
Let’s just stop this crap right now.
You going to fool around with our money and not follow the law so close up the PFD . Alaskans get half and the State gets the rest. Then there is no more PFD. They will certainly have to balance budgets then. But it’s 50/50 split. Otherwise this will be an issue every tear unless they stick to the law! B
The state already gets half
Take the PFD (all of it) pay the bills give the rest to the residents, close the fund and use future oil revinue as income then everyone can shut up.
I like that idea!
Thanks Mike. That will help when they shut down fishing this summer. Too bad The house majority vote against it earlier.
B F D.
The Legislature sucks up thousands of dollars per member in per diem even while they are in quarantine and they throw a lousy thousand bucks to the masses! Throw these scumbags out of office!
This is better than nothing and probably all he can do at this time. He can’t unilaterally set the PFD. He has some control over when it can go out. It looks like he is doing about all he can constitutionally to get the PFD to Alaskans. The theft of the PFD rests on the shoulders of Walker, and THIS legislature.
This is better than nothing and it will help. Next let’s let some tourist money up here and as the rest of the world gets back to it, even oil is going to go up. The best thing we can take from this is to remember who was there to help and who used this crisis as another chance to slap us in the face. If we don’t vote out these legislators we deserve all we get.
Remember that Bryce finance chick that said we couldn’t handle an early payout.
What about the back pay ??? Now he doesn’t even bother to mention that issue anymore!!! Too much talk , too much crap, too many promises and now all he can do is 1000 for this year PFD??? Dunleavy you suck you should do better, everyone was affected by pandemic, oh!! But not you guys. Tell us how many months are you behind in payments, I know the answer None. How many times you go to the store and you have to hesitate to prioritize what you need for your family?? I know and we all know the answer None. We’re still waiting for that second stimulus package , you all talk to much , get your act together we have bills to pay .
You need to get a grip and learn a little something about how your State government works. The Governor cannot appropriate money; he doesn’t offer you a thousand or ten thousand bucks. All any Governor can do is try to persuade or force the Legislature to appropriate money. If they won’t, he can’t make them. You’re screeching at the wrong people.
The $1000 is solely on Bryce.
The legislature would love to burn up the permanent fund and kill the dividend. Then they can pass an income tax that they can raise at will.
There is a spending problem; not an income problem.

Goodbye MRAK. Headed out today and won’t be back. Next year’s PFD might be a little bit bigger if the house can be controlled to keep their sticky fingers off of it. When appropriate, I have a story to tell that may rock the foundation of SW Alaska. Stay tuned and keep up the fight. I will miss chewing the fat with you all.
Safe travels. Stay in touch. – sd
Will do.
As Americans we live within are means or one would hope so…. Maybe the government needs lessons. Also, where us all the tax money from marijuana?
