Jenny Di Grappa, a liberal who filed to run against Felix Rivera in District 4 for the Anchorage Assembly, pulled out of the race this week. Although she missed the withdrawal deadline, the Anchorage Municipal Clerk has crossed her name off the list, and she won’t appear on the April 4 ballot, and won’t take votes away from Rivera.

Remaining in the race is liberal standard-bearer Rivera, who drives for DoorDash and is trying for his third and final term on the Assembly, and conservative Travis Szanto, a builder and principle of Skyworks LLC, who is known for his innovative treehouses.

Di Grappa withdrew on Feb. 1. By leaving the race, she strengthens Rivera, who has served on the Assembly since 2017, after having been a member of the staff of former Mayor Ethan Berkowitz.

  1. Had Dustin Darden pulled out of the District 3, West Anchorage race after the withdrawal deadline, they wouldn’t have removed his name from the ballot, because it’s all about winning for the ‘woke’ left — violating whatever rules necessary. Will Anchorage residents hold them accountable, or escape their responsibility through sports, Netflix, porn…?

  2. Dear prospective Conservative brave willing future public servants: May we please receive a forensic, professional accounting of the percentage of assembly expenses itemized for the last three years separated by year? Also, what percentage of the year’s annualized “budget” does the department of the assembly consume? With any notes which become apparent through review but cannot be anticipated at this time. How much of their “work” was within the scope of expressed legal, Constitutional authority. Please locate and identify for the taxpayers what percentage of operation activity in the last three years was expressly assigned to this body and how much was developed by themselves much as the equity agency is now doing. How many work sessions and meetings numerically occurred while management and represented employees were vying to complete the same task. How much remuneration per person was gained by each assembly person by year by any checking account and report made available of these municipal corporations. ALL corporations have literal owners. Please specify exactly whom the owners are whether they be local or foreign entities who demand revenue from properties and businesses. MORE LATER.

  3. Good thing for Leigh Sloan that she’s running against a Karen. I bet she actually wins that race for that reason.

  4. One more thing? When will bound copies of The Anchorage Charter be available to the public. It is currently completely unavailable to the interested public. Do not say the volume is available on line. It is not. THere is a market for the bound volume here in Anchorage and should not be invested in a printing shop in order to obtain in a usable bound volume by the financiers if they would like to it to their private library. If more widely distributed the quality of servant behavior would more closely align with the authorizing enactment. Also a current organization chart should be whipped out within an hours time and available for sale as well as a comparable one for 2018 for comparison and comment. These are merely reasonable business requests by reasonable taxpayers.

  5. Miss the deadline and your name gets pulled from the ballot? Why is there even a deadline? Rules, Schmules. If this was a conservative candidate their name would have remained. Is there any recourse against this BS?

  6. Maybe Barbara should be elected, instead of appointed by the Assembly.

The state of Alaska wouldn’t let Buzz *Kelley* drop out after the deadline, whom many mistakenly voted for, thinking he was *Kelly* Tshibaka, which helped Lisa Murkowski win.

    • Vote for Kelly shot themselves in the foot. That tey couldn’t see that coming was a juvenile political error on her part. What wouldn’t she use her last name? Oh, it sound weid and foreign for her base.
