Column: Major swath of country in danger of summer rolling blackouts due to Biden ‘green energy transition’

Not only have gas prices broken records for the past several weeks, a good portion of the country is being told they should expect rolling blackouts, as the nation enters the hot summer months.

The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) officially released its summer report showing almost two-thirds of the country should prepare for a possible blackout.

The reason for these coming blackouts is clear: a mandated transition to “clean” energy. The Wall Street Journal editorial board writes:

“Welcome to the “green energy transition.” We’ve been warning for years that climate policies would make the grid more vulnerable to vacillations in supply and demand. And here we are. Some of the mainstream press are belatedly catching on that blackouts are coming, but they still don’t grasp the real problem: The forced transition to green energy is distorting energy markets and destabilizing the grid.”

One of the chief proponents of forcing a transition to clean energy has been Richard Glick, the chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). In February, he and the other Democrat commissioners at FERC tried to force through a policy that would have made building new natural gas pipelines and infrastructure almost impossible. Thankfully, the leadership of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee blasted the move. Senators Joe Manchin and John Barrasso made clear they wouldn’t stand for it. FERC pulled back the rule, for now.

Glick has been renominated as the chair of FERC. The Journal editorial board continues: “His renomination is a clear and present danger to the U.S. electricity supply. The war in Ukraine and surging energy prices haven’t deterred Democrats from their anti-fossil fuels campaign. Will widespread power outages?”

The Biden administration’s policies are resulting in a hot, dark summer for millions of Americans. With the summer heat just getting started, there is no relief in sight.

  1. We need to break away from this madness and become our own country. The feds could not do anything except use military might which would not fly in todays world.

  2. You “voted” for Biden, America.
Elections have consequences. In this case, bad ones.

  3. Lights out could just be the start of our collective Harvest of Sorrows wrought by the Green Dealers, who BTW sure seem to be much like the Leninist, Stalinist and Maoist of the last century. Smug, smart and they have a righteous cause to boot…
This bunch has a plan they think, trouble is when you begin to screw with the fabric of how a society works there are unintended circumstances. Like life itself, the economy is irreducibly complex, it is the culmination of years of a society finding its way to provide for itself. Big top down central plans rarely go well and making sudden changes will cause major problems. This kind of thing has happened before in Ukraine, Russia and in China, all within the lifetimes of many of us and it caused the death of one hundred million people. But, that could never happen here, right?

  4. The hotter and darker the better. Toss in a tornado or two; maybe an East-Coast powerline downing hurricane. Maybe 3 or 4.

But then a cold snap starting in October with deep-freeze temperatures that have home heating running 24/7. Heating bills that hit home just a few days before the November election. Deep snow nationwide with no fuel available to run the plows.

Then let the people vote how much more misery they want.

Think of it as adult education!

    • “………Then let the people vote how much more misery they want……….”
No problem. Just a bit more aggression with the ballot box stuffing operations, and voila! Approval!

  5. Hey, Alaska’s not on that map, so… guess it’s nice to be on our own isolated grid up here?

  6. Alaska is not on the lower 48 grid. E.V. cars will not run without electricity and they will demand more battery to keep the air conditioning working (temporarily). We Alaskans will take care of our own and will have the energy to do so. Chaos due to depraved thinking can be a healthy awakening to Truth. Let us Alaskans don’t become depraved to “keep up with the lower 48.”

  7. The amazing shortsightedness of the ecowarrior is on full display. People that have known nothing but electricity on demand will demand electricity. If the government regulates away electricity on demand then the people will find a way to fill that demand. Millions of small residential generators running on gas, diesel, or propane will necessarily be far more inefficient than large central generation facilities. I own a generator for my house for emergency use, it’s unfortunate that the government is causing this emergency for millions and millions of Americans. Makes me want to buy stock in American residential generator businesses.

  8. Increased electrical consumption for air conditioning because the weather is getting hotter has nothing to do with any Biden Plan. Good grief he has only been President for 17 months

    • Yes, and look at how incredibly much (purposeful and coordinated) damage that Usurper PotatoHead, excuse me, Usurper PotatoHead’s globalist puppetmasters, have managed to do this nation in a mere 17 months. Trump was no messiah or savior, but this current Oval Office pretender is diabolically, willfully and rapidly destroying this nation, all to further his handler’s evil totalitarian agenda.
