Breaking: Mayor pulls all board nominees from Assembly agenda

24
Assembly members Chris Constant and Forrest Dunbar listened to the concerns of hockey coaches last week after taking a break during an Assembly meeting due to the noise of the protesters.

This story has been updated: Mayor Dave Bronson on Monday has suddenly pulled all of his boards and commissions nominees from the Anchorage Assembly agenda.

They will not appear on Tuesday night’s meeting for confirmation.

They include:

  • Dr. Sean Degler, Health and Human Service Commission
  • Andria Dolan, Anchorage Women’s Commission
  • Bernadette Bradley, Bidding Review Board
  • Traci Willett, 49th State Angel Fund
  • Randy Suite, Budget Advisory Commission
  • Keith Manternach, Military and Veterans Affairs
  • Brian Flynn, Board of Building Regulations Examiners and Appeals
  • Keith Manternach, Public Safety Advisory Commission

The Mayor’s Office has evidently realized that the liberal Assembly has declared war on his administration, which is seven weeks old, and that his nominees are all going to suffer harsh treatment, as did Sami Graham last week during an Assembly work session. Another nominee, Dave Morgan, withdrew after it was evident the Assembly would not confirm him to direct the Anchorage Health Department.

This is a developing story. Check back for details.

  1. This Assembly (except Allard) they have such a poor sorry attitude. Ooooooo! Their predjudice is making them miss out on life!

    • Agree. They are stunted by their own blinding hatred that produces nonsensical and illogical behavior.

  2. Couldn’t agree with you. During the hearing Allards metaphor of the two cops and fire fighters were incoherent and did not relate to the experience needed for the director role.

  3. Marxist. Their way or no way. No respect, no decorum, no compromise. And now we see why everything is now mandated on the people. A government of tyrants and to hell with the people. What’s going on in this Country is truly evil.

  4. “The Mayor’s Office has evidently realized that the liberal Assembly has declared war on his administration, which is seven weeks old, and that his nominees are all going to suffer harsh treatment”

Can someone provide the statistics of how many appointees/nominees of Mayor Bronson’s have been declined by the Assembly vs. how many were accepted? From all I know, it was the health guy and potentially the librarian, and all others have been accepted. Maybe I’m missing something, but seeing how many got approved will show if this really is a “war on his administration.”

  5. Do we need more good people to apply for these boards? Why is Keith Manternach applying for two of them? How should we let the mayor and his staff know of our availability service on Muni boards?

  6. The Ron Thompson building department nomination keeps getting bumped as well.
All for the better, he’s a complete conflict of interest having just signed over his construction permitting business to his children as soon as he was appointed head of the construction permitting department (pending confirmation).
An extremely bad choice for our community that ultimately makes Anchorage a lot less safe for all of us.

  7. Mayor Bronson, just appoint your nominees and to h— with the Municipal Assembly’s approval!
The Assembly regularly refuses to follow any semblance of established rules, or the law, so why should you?

  8. I don’t believe this assembly was voted in by the will of the people. Mail in fraud and union members voting directly for their paychecks contributed to this sham.

  9. Rather than do what’s best for Anchorage they are putting up road blocks, they are all Democrats, what does that say.

  10. Just make them all in an “acting status” in some title that isn’t “Director”. Then they won’t need confirmation. These clowns on the assembly are such babies. One thing is for sure: we are coming after each of them – one by one at the BALLOT BOX. Forrest’s loss is first. Meg comes next. I’ve never seen anything like this. What a joke.

  11. Recall the tyrants. Stop mail in ballots unless requested by absentee voters. Full forensic audit every state including Alaska of Nov. 2020. Let’s prove there was no voter fraud!

  12. Just start closing departments. Strip this thing down to the bare bones for the whole term and show people they can live without 90% of the burden attached to the yoke around the tax payers neck.

    • I agree. Let’s see how many city departments can be pared down of wasteful spending, perks, and workers who have nothing to do but right emails to the assembly and complain about having a new boss who might impose some values.

  13. “………The Mayor’s Office has evidently realized that the liberal Assembly has declared war on his administration……..”
This appears to be very hazardous when attempted on a fighter pilot. It looks like the pilot likes to fight. The liberals look like they’ve bitten the tail of a tiger. Let’s see how long they can hold on………..
