President Joe Biden is under fire for waiving more sanction requirements for Iran even as Iranian-backed militant terrorist groups continue to launch attacks on Israel as well as U.S. and other ships in the Red Sea, hiking costs for Americans.

Several U.S. senators are criticizing Biden, accusing him of an “ongoing strategy of appeasement” to the Iranian regime.

Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., led the letter with a dozen other senators to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Secretary of State Antony Blinken raising concerns about the administration’s decision to issue a waiver last month allowing Iran to access billions of dollars via electricity sold to Iraq.

The senators also point out that other Iranian-backed groups, the Houthis, have significantly disrupted global trade and attacked U.S. service members with their ongoing attacks on ships in the Red Sea. Those attacks have disrupted global supply chains and made goods more expensive for Americans.

Three U.S. troops were killed and more than 30 injured in a drone strike in Jordan earlier this year, likely conducted by Iranian-backed militants.

“It is unfathomable that this is the context in which the administration determined that it was within the national security interest of the United States to waive sanctions on restricted Iranian funds, making them more accessible to the regime,” the letter said. “If we want to actually restore deterrence in the region, those funds should be placed further out of Iran’s reach, not closer.”

The waivers for Iran are not new, but the senators argue given the ongoing bad behavior from Iran, more waivers only encourage the activity.

“The United States should be restricting Iran’s access to currency abroad,” the letter said. “Instead, your administration is expanding it, all while continuing to share limited information on a strategy to restore deterrence in the Middle East with Congress or the American people.”

The conflict in the region began on Oct. 7 when Hamas militants entered Israel and killed more than a thousand Israelis, mostly civilians, often in a brutal manner and involving rape.

Recently, an explosion in Syria destroyed the Iranian consulate there and killed twelve, including two Iranian generals and a leader of Hezbollah, the Iranian backed group conducting attacks on northern Israel.

  1. Waivers? Please. This is encouragement. Biden is helping to keep us in war.

Let’s let Ukraine into NATO and make sure Iran has enough money to continue funding terror. Gotta’ make sure war breaks out everywhere.

  2. Leftists adore muslims and islam. They look to them as mentors. What other group is less tolerant and more oppressive than muslims? The leftists cannot learn from the quickly enough.
    .
Is it any wonder the democrats have no qualms about letting Iran have a nuke? Do they care that it is a country that will use it for petty reasons? Nope. In fact, it is just another step in the path toward a global government where the leftists have total control. In the mind of the idiots running the White House, WWIII is a fabulous idea.

  3. Grandpa Bloodstains doesn’t care. He needs to votes to keep Jill in the White House.

Bloodstains has always had a history of casual racism. In a way it’s almost refreshing for him to go flat out anti semite. Or for Jill to, whichever.

It takes a depraved mind to send money and political cover to the only nation foundationally driven to destroy the nation Bloodstains allegedly runs.

  4. Bowing down to a terroristic government has never worked in the past. Bad Middle East policies by this administration may well cause another war.

  5. It’s time for a talk about Obama’s Rasputin, Valerie Jarret, and her connections to Iran. And about her partner-in-infamy, Susan Rice, whose deep hatred of Israel motivated her to take the lead in Obama’s (and now Biden’s) kowtowing to Iran. And then there’s John Kerry, their frontpiece and bagman…

I wonder how all these people found their way into Obama’s – and now Biden’s – inner circle at the same time.

  6. Biden is so lost in the world of dementia. He does not realize he his funding Terrorism.
Biden funding of terrorism is treason

  7. Is there a country out there that DOESN’T have dirt on Joe ?
They needed the sanctions lifted so they could afford to operate all the equipment he left in Afghanistan. Probably banking his 10% selling spare parts

  8. Under fire from who? Not the mainstream media, not democrats, most of the republicans are fine with what’s going on, no one who could affect policy or start a change seems to give a rip what this doddering fool and his inept cabinet do. Let ‘em burn it all down, just leave us alone while they do it.

  9. Alaska needs to be open for business if the Middle East or investors will deal with governments that are not abusive but are fair and reasonable. Fraser Institute ranks Alaska at the bottom of place to drill and produce oil, and the USA, with only California, is worse than Alaska.

Name one oil and gas investor that bought Alaskan oil and gas leases and made a profit from production in the last 20 years; name one. Can anyone name one company besides the three Big Oil Majors?

Is Alaska known as a Company Town, and are Alaskan regulators known for fairness? Look at the Point Thomson Unit and the Greater Point Thomson Unit Denial by the DNR DOG; what was fair about that denial when many of the leases were approved by the DNR DOG to be in the PTU, and they lost them, and we can’t get in, now they make us pay ” rent” for that they terminated, the Judge had oral arguments on My Birthday April 3, 2024.

I hope we win and get the only planned delineation well drill on both sides of the Point Thomson Unit #17 Well, which has averaged over 8,000 BOPD for almost a decade. The DNR DOG is stopping us. We will see if the Regulators will protect us and compensate us. We need to win so we can drill soon, not the 40 years PTU spent getting one well to produce, the highest average producing well in Alaska for almost eight years. Only Petroleum New is fair to write about it when PTU #17 stops producing 8,000 BOPD because of a leak and other mechanical issues. We want to get our Unit as allowed by the lease contract and the Law; maybe DNR DOG will give us a final decision soon. It’s been years, and they collect rent under DNR Commissioner Fiege’s 2019 regulation that is so Fiege almost as bad as her other mistakes, like Hemi Springs/Guitar Unit, the PTU/ANWR Well Confineceal case that we won in December that supports we should be in the Unit and the PA.

  10. Just more evidence that President Biden and the Democrat party have never supported Israel or Jews.
