Alaska Life Hack: State’s over-the-counter land sales start today

On Wednesday starting at 10 a.m., Alaskans have the opportunity to buy land in the “over-the-counter” sales program from the Alaska Division of Mining, Land and Water.

These plots were previously offered in the annual 2024 Department of Natural Resources land auction, and are now for sale directly on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Residents buying State land creates a special connection to The Last Frontier, and the benefits extend even further since their purchase enables future lands sales for Alaskans,” said DNR Commissioner John Boyle. “DNR staff continue to make desirable land available to Alaskans through these over-the-counter sales, auctions, and with remote staking.”

  1. These programs are a joke. Who wants to buy a tiny parcel of land in a subdivision next to everybody else. The good lots get snagged by insiders and the leftovers are junk.
If Alaska really cared about their citizens they would allow residents to stake of at least 40 acres anywhere on State Land and have the Federal Gov release most of their land to the state.

    • What are you saying. Many of these lots are 4 to 7 acres or larger. On lakes or rivers. I know people that have purchased excellent pieces of property. My family’s cabin is on a remote lake with about 8 cabins within 2 miles , rarely do we see anyone out there when we are there. In fact I do not personally know any of our neighbors other than by name.

  2. They do not support private property rights when the swamplands are sold.because they are basically communist in their values ergo retarded just like their bogus land “sales” program.
