The Alaska Republican Party, meeting in Juneau for its quarterly business conference, elected Fairbanks political activist Cheryl Markwood as the party’s new vice chair.
Markwood replaces Zackary Gottshall, who resigned at the end of 2024 after serving only since April. Markwood, a real estate broker, is one of the coordinators of the Interior Republicans’ Friday luncheons held in Fairbanks. She has been a member of the Greater Fairbanks Board of REALTORS and the Alaska Real Estate Commission.
I’m shocked, there’s actually a Alaskan GOP?
If you see what’s happening in Juneau you wouldn’t think so.
Good pick. She’s a workhorse for conservatives and Republicans.
Maybe she can convince our elected Republican representatives to band together rather than going over to the dark side.
Totally agree, an ineffective, laughable Alaska GOP that gives the rinos a free pass. And ignored socalled conservative Alaskan senators Hughes, Vance, and Shower targetting of Rep David Eastman in the Alaskan House. Even dunleavy was in on the takedown. Disgraceful, they targetted a conservative while ignoring all the rinos they could instead target.
For many years Cheryl Markwood has put a lot of effort into organizing the weekly GOP lunches and many other events and fundraisers. That is great!
However – she has also gone out of her way to support truly terrible RINO politicians like former state Rep. Bart LeBon and former Sen. Click Bishop. They have done very little to support our governor’s mission to cut spending. Bart nearly cried at the townhall when UAF had budget cuts proposed.
Going forward we need more MAGA -Alaska in the interior. Not pushover, middle of the road types that caucus with democrats.
Thank you Cheryl and good luck!
