Fairbanks North Star Borough Assemblyman Aaron Lojewski may be term-limited off of the Assembly, but he’s not done with public service in the borough. He filed a letter of intent on Tuesday to run for mayor, the first to sign up for a seat that comes open in October of 2024.

Lojewski leaves Assembly Seat H after the Oct. 3 election is certified. He has served since being first elected in 2017.

Lojewski owns Fairbanks Aurora Tours, which specializes in sharing Alaska’s Aurora Borealis with visitors for viewing and photography in the Fairbanks area through van tours. He was previously a licensed real estate agent who has a master’s degree in resource and applied economics from University of Alaska Fairbanks, where he also earned a bachelor’s degree in finance. He served as a volunteer board member of Interior Gas Utility and is an Eagle Scout.

Current Mayor Bryce Ward is in his second term and is term-limited, having been sworn in in 2018.

  1. Democrats are hoping to field Grier Hopkins in this FNSB mayor’s race. Hopkins lost his seat in the Alaska State House in 2022. Hopkins is the brother-in-law of the radical political operative, Scott Kendall. His dad is Luke Hopkins, former mayor and a Left-wing environmentalist who nearly started a civil war in Fairbanks over wood stove usage during the cold winter months of 2009-2015. And Hopkin’s uncle is another Left-winger and former legislator, David Guttenberg. To say the Hopkins tribe are political animals is an understatement.
    .
Aaron Lojewski is his own man. Conservative, well-educated, small businessman, and a rational thinker who is not under control by a group of money-hungry Democrats. We’ll be working hard to put Lojewski into the mayor’s office; while doing everything possible to keep another Hopkins from gaining political office in Alaska.

  2. Lojewski is a clever guy, running for mayor while he still sits as the presiding officer on the Assembly. His lead in watering down the insane climatology schemes of the Democrats will put a target on his back by the gullible believers. But Grier Hopkins for mayor? Give me a break. All he has for creds is his daddy’s last name, and a lot of residents couldn’t stand him. As for being little twirp Scott Kendall’s brother, that probably does more harm than good, as Kendall is another despised activist. At least everyone now knows the connection between them.

  3. Met Lojewski when he was a student at UAF. Very bright and understands the nuances of both policy and economics. He is deserving of your support. Aron towers head and shoulders above the extended Hopkins clan.

  4. Aaron Lojewski……beware! You will be running against Scott Kendall, the little bro-in-law. Without Kendall running election fraud, election racketeering, union-organized ballot harvesting, and his dad and mom organizing the wacko left, Grier is nothing more than a babbling nut.
Good luck, Aaron and let us know where to send our checks.

  5. Lojewski shouldn’t expect any favorable coverage from the Fairbanks Daily Newsminer. That little Democrat rag is all in for Grier Hopkins, even though Hopkins proved to be a loser in last year’s House race. But in the end it may not matter. The Newsminer is losing more customers and advertising business. The Saturday edition is folding and inserts are thinner. Another sign of the times.

    • LOL. the newsminer is nothing more than a 503c3 rag. While it cannot legally endorse or support even a candidate for dogcatcher, its “journalists” and “editors” will – surely as the sun rises and sets – slant its miniscule amount of “news coverage” to support the set of usual leftist politicians and social misfits …..
